Well I see the flow as going diagonal with the text, I even made sure to orient all the objects with that in mind.

The glows, the scanlines, her arm and the way she is leaning.... so I matched the Text up with that~
Like I said, I think the orientation of the text is pretty darn close to following the flow, which I do agree is a bit diagonal, especially around her arm on the left side. But it seems a bit more horizontal on the right side around her hair. IMO the text could be slightly rotated like 5-10 degrees clockwise, yet I think what bothers me more than the orientation is the size and position. But even then it's not bad or anything, it's an awesome sig.

The first sig is very good Coffee-san.
I also like the effect used on the right side of the second sig :D (I used that effect in the past :) it adds some weight to the sig)

The voting for the twin sig contest is complete, and the winning pair is Farfalla and nanaDmari! :confetti

Such a simple concept and yet so truly unique, "M" stands out from the rest of the pack. Not only is this the only submission in this theme to create a playing card, but I think this might be the first playing card to ever be submitted in the history of this contest! (I know that it is at least the first card I remember seeing since I took over the contest.) It looks like it could be printed and used as an actual playing card. The proportions match the standard with the suit and even the font. It reminds me of an old deck with which I used to play with my parents. The effects on the background give it a very classic feel, especially the parchment-esque background and faded edges.

The card idea works ingeniously well the theme, using two lovely female characters in what appears to be either peaceful prayer or serene slumber. Atypical of real playing card mirror characters, the two here are juxtaposed artfully in the colors of their outfits, skin, and (just slightly) hair. This breaking from card tradition causes the image to stand out and become interesting. I have a theory on the reason behind the coloring of the two girls and the name of the card. My guess is that the two artists exchanged some personal information, such as photos and names, based the two characters on themselves, and called the card "M" based on some commonality in their two names. I really, really hope that this is correct, as it would make me love this piece so much more for the real connection it would have to the artists.

That brings me to what I consider the most essential part of this image: the collaborative aspect. This is an elegant fusion of Farfalla's nuanced and often feminine style with nanaDmari's unique gift for creating quality original art for this contest. When I saw this submission, I didn't think either "Oh, this is clearly Farfalla's artwork at play" or "What an obvious nanaDmari work" but instead could pick out several instances in which I could truthfully see where each of you contributed. Furthermore, there are aspects to this piece that I cannot clearly attribute to either of you like the idea to do a playing card. Two separate forces coming together to accomplish something greater than themselves as individuals is the definition of synergy, which is both a fundamental aspect to the special sibling dynamic of twins and also the very thing that I most hoped would be accomplished through a collaboration like this. To quote an 1980s American pop hit, two of hearts, two hearts that beat as one!

You two are both such wonderful artists, and the proof is in the putting. To this observer, it seems like a real melding of the minds happened here, much like the fabled telepathy of twins, to create this genius work. I hope this experience has brought the two of you closer as both artists and friends, developing a beautiful bond of sisterhood that will, with luck, last long after this competition!

Congratulations, you soul sisters! ;)
:confetti

Please be sure to congratulate our two co-winners on their lovely collaboration. :tem

We still have one more week for the soul contest. There are currently two strong contenders, and they are looking for some more challengers. Do you have the fighting spirit? :)

Congrats Oh Nana and nanaD!

@ tsuki - how comes we can't see the no. of votes for each submission, etc. Why is it still hidden? and more importantly why did the thread vanish of all a sudden?

The thread is back, it was just hidden while, Tsuki was setting up things. You can see the votes there.

Grats lala and nana~

The votes in the voting thread should be visible now. I'm not sure how that happened. It was probably an error I made when creating the thread. (The buttons for keeping the results permanently hidden and showing the results after the poll closes are right next to each other, and I more than likely just clicked the wrong one. :sweatdrop)

Concerning the vanishing act the thread pulled, it is just like Charlie said. When I am writing the announcement post for the winner and it seems like I might not post it in time for the poll time limit to expire (sometimes my computer and Internet connection lag like they did tonight), I hide the thread so that the winner is kept a surprise until I announce the winner.

I just thought it looks better when the official announcement comes first instead of how in the past sometimes people would beat me to the post, but I don't mind if you would prefer that I kept the thread always visible and just make the official announcement whenever I manage to do it. It's really all the same in the end. :amuse

loved your comment, as always, tsukisama...
Yes, we both have the same name... "Mariana"... thus the "M" for the card and the name of the signature...
the coloring I think came more from other concepts we considered, of pairs that complete eachother, like light/dark, ying/yang,...
we both have brown hair (right, far?), and our skin color is not much different (I think XD)... but Far has green eyes (love green/blue eyes, but had to get the brown eyes from my father T~T)
I think we were a great pair for this theme XD
so many similar things...

Congratulations to the both of you; that's a well-thought out entry, I must say. A lot of meaning put into it. Well-deserved win. :D

:confetti Congrats on the Win NanaD and Farfalla!!! :confetti

Your sig was a great idea. And the execution was clean, simple and beautiful. I didn't realize you had the sames names, that is really cool. Now the "M" title makes sense. :tem

Yeah, I hope Tsukisama works with something that involves writing, 'cause otherwise it's kind of a waste Ç.Ç

Twins were a good theme since, as Nana said, we have the same name, are both brunettes, and we call ourselves "xarás" all the time xD (google said the translationg for xará is "namesake" xD), so we tried to play with this concept as twins and the concept of opposition as yin/yang. Since sigs are longer horizontally, we tried the card layout on it o/ (or it would be two girls laying on each other Ç.Ç!) Ok, kidding. Nana is the best xD Her work is amazing is she's such a great person xD She's nice and fun and I get along rly well with her. Those things made me also love working with her (btw, if any of you have a lil patience to translate things, you could join us in PT thread *0*)

Thank you all *0* For congratulating us and voting for us o/
I really love this contest and the ones involved on it xD
Hope more people like SAKURA-CHAN (what's this "can't compete" talk? u.u) will join us assiduously o/
And thanks, Nana-chan^^ I had a great time with this sig xD

@ Sakura-aneki - Seriously your art is way way way better than mine was when I first entered the contests. So please participate, you'll improve as you go. And I think your current sig is awesome, there is nothing wrong with that. It is really well done. :D
