Most of the ancient creatures we see today need a host.
- Fire Elephant (Evenkhel)
- Wood Minotaur (Khel Hellam)
- Akrinak (Nen Neya)
In the past, it seems that Zahard and the 10 FHs directly hunted them.
So in terms of strength, if the ancient creatures still existed independently, would they be stronger than the top towerborns like Adori, Enne, Luslec, or the regents of the 10 great families?

By the way, Rak (may indeed be a spelling of 'Rock', his ancient power) Wraithraiser is also an ancient keeper, like jinchurikis of Naruto. This was confirmed by Dumas (not the Naruto similarity ofc :) ).

Besides, I also remember Evankhell talking with the Fire Elephant on not overusing power etc., maybe in the end of hell train or Doom's heart related arc. Maybe, they are constrained in independent forms, or have low energy capacity etc., so it is profitable for them to be in a host to begin with. Obviously, host is important when they are within an entity, but afaik we only saw Akrinak's capture, so I can't comment on their independent forms. Another bad thing is that we already have a fire elemental, Fire elephant, so the number of ancients according to the specific elements can be more than one, which makes it less unique, and probably less special or worth considering. In the end of the day, things will be interesting if and only if ancients have a specific exemptions regarding admins, contracts, or power limit. Otherwise, just some flashy panels.

Not sure which chapter you're talking about the ancients being stronger with a host, but ss3 ep 56 (ch 473) mentions that the Fire Elephant's goal is to survive, so it keeps changing hosts. In Nen Neya's case as well, Akrinak said that because his host is too weak, his attacks don't do much damage (ss3 ep 112 - ch 529).
The ancients are very strong, but they are hunted by Zahard and 10 FHs. Having a host will make it easier for them to hide and survive. However, they will be limited in strength because the host itself is weak.

Rak is a rare case, he resembles the Native One.

History said there was once a giant in the Tower who split himself into five beings, each with the power to control the elements of the Tower and each were known as a "Native One".

In my opinion, Rak is a descendant of that legendary giant.

Don't really see the hype surrounding ancient creatures ngl.

They were neve referred to as game changing weapons, they're just slightly older tower monsters that got wiped out, most of them at least.

From what we've seen of people possessing them too no one really seems to care much, not even Gustang in his boundless curiosity and also resident lore dropper for strength.

So i say with wank the strongest might be regent tier, maybe.

Ancient being stronger with a host was a "maybe", no reference whatsoever. They may just enter hosts for the sake of hiding from Zahard. Some curious points with Rock:
-While Evankhell activated Fire Elephant in the last station of Hell Train arc, Rock Wraithraiser stopped to look at that all of a sudden. It was hinting at a certain relation imo.
-After Rak was encircling the question mark person with rocks in the same arc, Hwaryun briefly warned him about not really demonstrating this power, which simply to let him not being hunted down for it.

Maybe before the hostile guardian of the last floor, all the Native one fragments and ancients will merge into something Rakish, and start bending some admin rules and also fight with that last admin. Other than this, current ancients are not really looking so powerful.

I believe most would be stronger than CCs, but weaker than Dumas.

When they went to capture Akrinak who is known as one of the most strongest ancient creatures, we saw that a huge force from the Zahard army and the Lo Po Bia family. Even Zahard came (even though he was just a hologram) to witness the battle.
Fortunately, Wang Wang is a special person, otherwise it would have been difficult to capture Nen Neya (not to mention Akrinak said that Nen was too weak as a host).

There must be some reason why the ancient creatures were hunted like that, and they are almost extinct or in hiding, but it was clear that they were really strong race.

As I said, Rak is a rare case. He looks exactly like the Legendary Giant. I wouldn't be surprised if he possessed the power of five elements.

Ancient creatures are currently limited by their hosts. They really need to survive more than increase their power because the ones who hunt them are irregulars, they have no chance of winning against those people. Looking at the case of the descendants of the Native One, Zahard actually exterminated them.

Thanks to the armor, Dumas is almost indestructible.
However, in Akrinak's case, he has mind controlling. I don't think Dumas can handle it on his own.

Data Eduan considered the DDs of the Native Ones to be extremely powerful beings, and even now, some of the Ancients we've seen using hosts (Evankhell and Khel) have been portrayed as at least CC Tier fighters with only a Partial Release of their power. Full Release remains a mystery, as it seems to be restricted by the Administrators (if the hosts use it, the Admin gets involved).

The biggest hype undoubtedly comes from Yasratcha's mouth and it's about Acrinak, who was said to be one of the strongest Ancient species. He said its power was enormous enough to make the FHs "wary" (granted, on a weak host it was slaughtered by Fandore Harpe, who's a minuscule fraction of Traumerei's power).

Powerscaling them at this point is a headache, but I think there's no doubt that the stronger DDs of the Native Ones would've been much stronger than CC Tiers at their peak. Depending on how accurate Yasratcha's statement is, they can perfectly be Regent Tier or even beyond that.

I think the Native Ones themselves (the 5 beings the giant split himself into) are almost assuredly bound to be beyond Regents. The ancient giant itself probably Top Towerborn at least. Overall, I think the Ancient hype is very solid so far.

Just to make sure, "if the hosts use it, the Admin gets involved", is it really Admin or the Ruler of the floor? I remember it like the ruler in the last station.

It's the Admin. It was stated twice. First in the Last Station, and then at the Cage IIRC.

Towerborns always exaggerate when saying Zahard and the 10 FHs will be on guard for something. But I think the creatures from the tower look more like their prey or the FHs don't really care about these creatures.
Akrinak is strong because that creature has many special abilities. He even controls the minds of the entire force there. If Wang Wang isn't special, then they can't capture Nen.

Someone once explained to me that "Admin" in that case was referring to Zahard's "adminstration authorities" where the chairman and the minister operate.
