I prefer the saturated one ç.ç The other one got grayish XD and brighter colors are prettier imo *-* (unless you can tone it down without adding the gray)

you could saturate the eyes and keep the background colors less saturated. It would give the image more depth too I think
like oyur sig mostly everything is black and whyte except for the chair and parts of the character. Thaat way it draws attention to the character @w@

or w/e I might sprout nonsense over here

Good to see TheBoss participating in this art contest! Welcome to our little village.

I prefer your first original submission. I can see the "grayish"-ness that lala is referring to in the second version which is true but I would like to know how you decided to use those character pictures/renders? Were they "cut" from another image and then pasted into your banner or did you manually clean up the outter area of each character render and then place them into your banner because if you look closely the outline of each character image is a bit "messy" or whitish in colour if you know what I mean?

Maybe using the magic tool would give a better appearance? What program are you using btw? I hope you continue participating because it will only motivate other participants to get involved including myself. =D

Argh crap. Corel Draw. I've had some bad experiences with that program. I never felt comfortable using it and I stopped using it after a couple of times at school so I can't help you there. -___-

Hmmm. I guess TheBoss could try Gimp?

Yeah I manually clean up and cut all of them D: the magic wand doesn't work as it should on those pics, then I had to delete the borders with the eraser or the manual selection tool O.õ
The second one is actually the original... It got grayish from perspective, not that I used anything to tone it down.
I thought no one would notice the small white color around it -.- I could clean it up better but ... Damn can you really see them? T_T
And I'm using Gimp, corel is annoying me with it's licence D:

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings >< I just thought that if you cleaned up the surroundings (whitish outline) then your banner would look much neater and the character pictures would blend in more. (talking from experience xDDD) Manually using the eraser is a pain in the ass. I lose patience with it and plus I'm bad with mouse control with those kind of things. Gimp magic wand isn't working!? O.o Have you disabled something? xD

All in all it's a worthy submission so you should be happy with it! I'm not terribly keen with the banner theme because it's one of those themes where you have to focus on small ideas and make it very simple due to the dimensions of the canvas. It's still a fun challenge.

Now that you guys made me clean again --' I see what happened, when I redimencioned the pics, the borders that were cleaned got pixelated and got bigger D:

So I finally managed to submit my banner for this contest. I'm a bit rusty still so not everything seems clear and flowing but I'm still very happy with the overall appearance of the banner. I was going to initially go for a chibi soul eater themed banner but I thought to myself since halloween is just around the corner; I would use that as a secondary theme to help me with this chibi business. I'll admit it does kinda look congested but I tried to make each piece blend in with each other so nothing looks out of place. I guess I could've worked more on the main background colour. I hate going with the plain, base colour._.


I hope to see a few more submissions. Good luck everyone~ =P
