YES! I'm so glad to see one submission (LOL) finally completed for the Breaker Fan Art contest! Amazing job by suarhnir! Thank you for taking the time and working on it! Super duper start! I hope we get at least one more submission in before the deadline! :S

Just one day left folks until this competition closes! Even if you don't have enough time to finish your piece, you might as well still submit it in! I hope Coffee decides to submit his piece in otherwise I'll be a very sad panda. D;

- Yet I always seem to NOT WIN any contests that involve getting a badge... T_T

I hope Coffee decides to submit his piece in otherwise I'll be a very sad panda. D;

- Last night I worked on it until 7 AM~
I sorta made a custom made/coloring hybrid piece... considering with the deadline and the other coloring contest I woudln't have had anywhere close to enough time for me to learn and do good lines for the hair and face...(though I started the hair lines at the beginning)
What I did exactly? =
- Basic Color to head
- Large and small shadows to hair and face
- Lighting to hair
- Light accents to hair and face
- Rebuilt middle of eyes
- Colored eyes
- Rebuilt background - (sky, clouds, building)
- Rebuilt steam/smoke
- Added light source
- Added light accents to clouds
- Added a few gradient maps
- Added some ambient particles for extra feel
- Added some blood splatter - (You couldn't really see any in the original panel, but in the scenes before and afterwards he was splattering people all over the place was he not? So I feel like there should have been blood in that panel as well.)

Now I am just trying to decide if I want to turn it in now, or try to improve it more before turning it in

1 - Don't schedule coloring contests along side other contests, (TWO COLORING CONTESTS AND A BANNER CONTEST????)

2 - Whoever picked that 'The Breaker' Panel for the contest, Change!!!!! (That panel wasn't very fun or easy or pleasing to the eye... you had the entire series to work with and there were plenty of awesome panels to use, even in that Volume alone.~)

In regards to the The Breaker Fan Art Competition it was really an experiment and something we took on with very little time to spare or to make any major adjustments at the time. This was the first time we introduced a series-based contest and we learnt a lot from it!

Obviously, it's close to the end of the year and there's been a lot of changes to the art contests so making sure that the schedule (for the future) is more organized and sensible is our main priority. The last thing I want is throwing more pressure and random contests at the participants to give a go. The Christmas Banner contest was something that we had planned for a while and we couldn't delay it any longer tbh.

Choosing the right panel is very important and one that did come to my mind after we opened the Breaker contest. Thornz came up with the original idea of series-based contests and he tested the Breaker contest in the manwha section but for obvious reasons we agreed it would be best suited in the arts contest section. Like I said before it was an experiment and one that I'm happy we tried out. We'll definitely take a lot more into consideration before we introduce another series-based contest again. Thanks for your great feedback Coffee.


Spread the word people about MH's Art Contests! We need to get more smexy artists to showcase their talents around here and for more regulars to enjoy giving the creative side of MH a go!

If you are successful in luring some fine talent to this section then you'll definitely receive some love from the Bug. I deserve an early xmas gift.

Well I've been working on the Maya Lotus coloring, but I may have to use an incomplete coloring, as in im rushing already and I still am cutting it close XD~ Not to mention I still need to make a Christmas banner~

Dec.19th Update - I got everything finished and turned in, I was happier with the coloring than I thought I would be, but it could still have used some work.

- I just wanted to take a moment to applaud baratha one more time, after working with his drawing (specifically the shadowing time) I noticed that my mouse almost seemed to move on its own for the shadowing! - (Besides the skin which didnt to seem to have any penciled in shadow work) It almost was as if I could feel that baratha had a harder time with the face than anything else. (let me know if i am delusional baratha lol)

And yes, baratha did a wonderful drawing and I am sad that I made a mess out of it when coloring it
