Congratz Damariirii, your banner was really well made, loved it. Also good job to Ladylola and Holtish for their first time making a banner. They both looked really good, imo.

Utsune, that colorization looks absolutely splendid. I really like the idea that you used monochrome. It gives it more feeling, imo. Although, I had like to add (just my opinion) that I find it a little bit maybe too much effects? Or no, I think that 'foggy' is the right word. But than again, at the other side it does reflect her character very well, imo. Honestly, for me when I saw this drawing I just got the feeling like that, I as a person, stands there somewhere deep in the forest by a hot source while seeing this female demon fairy appearing out of nowhere, testing her fire ability out, like that she felt free to use her abilities without even thinking or caring that there is someone in the area. I don't really know why.. but she reminded me there for a second of Kalista, you know like in 'The Plegde' where all the fog came out all of the sudden from one place and than she appeared! (In this case the demon fairy appears for me, would appear out of the hot source).

This was just what came through my mind when I was looking at the drawing.

How much I had like to join this contest since coloring and drawing are my favorite subjects, but unfortunately, I have barely time to join in the art contest and I got an art block for a long time, need to find some inspiration again to draw lol. Anyway, Utsune really well done. I hope to see more participants in this current contest. I can't wait to see more different coloring styles.

I was really fortunate to find that Ace render to serve as base of the banner, because I usually find the banner proportions difficult to work with, it takes a lot of time to fit everything in.
Congratulations to Holt and lola too for having their pieces fit everything nicely together in this challenge. Great job for your first time! Keep up the good work, hoping to see you guys getting even better

Oh, that's a shame, magi, it would be great to have you in this round.

I like the fog effect on Utsune's work, it gives a mysterious feeling to the piece. Everything has its own texture, it's good. I'm also curious to see how it was with colors, but it could change the atmosphere a lot.

The feedback is really helpful, and more than welcome. I'm not used to colouring things like these, so the smallest of advice would help a great deal. Kinda rushed this one a bit, since using brush tools with a mouse gets on my nerves. I only decided I like the greyscale better after doing the background, hope black and white still counts as colouring lol. The other reason is that, I feel giving it colours other than black and white (or even rainbow colours) kinda 'mortalizes' the subject in a sense, I didn't like what I had a whole lot. It's probably just my skill limiting me, but hey ho.

Black and white is completely fine XD
I wasn't expecting it to have been done with the mouse @___@
I can't I just can't, using brushes with the mouse is almost impossible for me... I don't have any precision... If I had to do something with only the mouce, I would start with flat colors and then apply gradients and some effects over them.

And congrats on winning Best Artist in the Community Awards, Utsune!!

Phew I finally finished the coloring. Been working on it for days.

A bit of an explanation, the coloring was done mostly on SAI and Photoshop, but the background is hand made. I used acrylics along with modeling paste to get that swirly effect.I thought it would be interesting to mix both, but my intention was originally to redraw everything by hand then color it again to get a traditional painting.But that would take tremendously longer to do, plus I'm not sure if nana would be ok with me using her piece like that.

I really liked coloring this piece. I know it's supposed to be a demon fairy, but I still went with a more traditional approach when choosing the colors, instead of choosing red and black for example(colors that are usually associated with demons) I decided to use green, blue and violet. Violet(or purple) can also be used for demons.

Amazing stuff guys. I really like the different portrayals used for the fairy. I especially like Charlie's choice of colors for the fairy. It instantly makes one think it's a demon fairy. It's hard to imagine other sets of colors that could fit the idea of a demon fairy so splendidly. However, the water bit didn't live up to the rest of the drawing. The edges look a bit rough and makes it seem like a foreign aspect introduced into the drawing rather than a part of the drawing itself. Still a really splendid effort for a last minute try.

lola's coloring has the most 'life'. It almost makes one feel like it's a godmother or so but the purple used adds the darkness aspect needed to fit the theme while the effects and background immediately catches your eye. It's the kind of stuff that one would think was taken straight from an anime. Absolutely love the work done here.

And Utsune, yours is very faithful to the theme. Despite not using colors, the drawing immediately gives the vibe of darkness and evil. More like what you'd expect if you read a manga. The effects also gives the feeling of intense pressure emanating from the fairy, you know, like when one release their reiatsu or so. Excellent work.

I've just been looking through the 3 submissions over and over while comparing it to the original uncolored work and it makes one realize how much change and life can be added to a drawing when coloring and effects are used. Different dimensions and interpretations of the same drawing are portrayed. Splendid effort guys, really .

Thanks, wanted to add some shading or adding more shadows as well (just messing around with it )and add more to the bg as well. But I realized how time consuming it is. Originally thought I can pull of something more fast but 15 minutes turned to 30 and all the layers in Paint.net (don't have PS on the computer). Because too much work.
So I gave up.

The water thing was another experiment - that I gave up on.
I wanted to create a 3d-esc water/ pond effect. Hence the oddity you noticed.
