Congrats, Uts!

thank you for that.i do understand it now..read up some material as well.i had really forgotten the diction part of language to be honest.:P i really don't use that aspect of language much,consciously i mean.thanks for reminding me that.i do try to do something of that sort when i write but it's mostly freestyle and based on feel/vibe of the mood i want to portray.Hi takneeque. You can't set a specific speed with metred language, so it's more like rhythm than tempo.
I'm sure metre exists in every language's tradition of poetry. I think it's what makes a poem (or, say, a line of verse in one of Shakespeare's plays) sound like poetry. In the case of English, every word has not only a certain sound to its pronunciation, but also a certain level of stress/emphasis that goes into every syllable. (Sentences do too actually. Some words can change meaning depending on the syllable stressed, while many sentences can take on new meanings as well.) In poetry, if you choose your wording carefully, you can craft a rhythm for the poem to take as a person reads. This is useful for setting a mood (via a rhythm that is rushed, slow, steady, erratic) or guiding people to an important word or phrase that you want them to notice.
I'm not sure how much heed experienced modern poets pay to metre these days as compared to the importance it was given in school, but just speaking for myself when I do write poetry I find it helps me structure my poems and choose words more easily. Generally I already know the mood I want and I don't write a poem unless I have some sort of system of imagery in mind (which is what I'm struggling with settling on for this contest incidentally, lol). Just speaking for myself, rhythm comes out organically as I work with the topic, imagery, and mood I'm going for. But just the same as with everything else, I typically need to tweak it endlessly even after the work is supposed to be "done."
Looking forward to seeing your submission.

Not sure whether you're aware or not, I really like the rhythm in your piecethank you for that.i do understand it now..read up some material as well.i had really forgotten the diction part of language to be honest.:P i really don't use that aspect of language much,consciously i mean.thanks for reminding me that.i do try to do something of that sort when i write but it's mostly freestyle and based on feel/vibe of the mood i want to portray.
For me,the imagery and the mood are kind of complementary to each other(obviously),so if i have one i kinda go with the flow and see what comes out of it.As you said,we can always tweak it later but i guess that's the hard part we all want to avoid.Looking forward to seeing your submission.
@utsune congrats man..
Or was that exactly what you were aiming for?
thanks man.i do try to come up with some kind of flow in the stuff that i write.Not sure whether you're aware or not, I really like the rhythm in your pieceOr was that exactly what you were aiming for?
i certainly appreciate it as well but how much of it i can understand and reproduce is debatable :P hence my queries on the structure and such.
) part was quite cool as well.please remove the boldness though:PHaha damn, I'll heed your advice and revert the changes. Just thought maybe the moons weren't obvious enoughthanks man.i do try to come up with some kind of flow in the stuff that i write.i certainly appreciate it as well but how much of it i can understand and reproduce is debatable :P hence my queries on the structure and such.
I really liked your poem as well.especially the sudden pauses in the rhythm.the acrostic(thanks for this charlie) part was quite cool as well.please remove the boldness though:P

hehe..i thought the acrostic part was quite subtle overall with the poem..hence the requestHaha damn, I'll heed your advice and revert the changes. Just thought maybe the moons weren't obvious enough![]()

We did it, boys.
It has been a long while since I actually stopped and paid attention to something I'm writing besides grammatical obsession. More so than being inspired and writing, I wrote and got inspired. I love this kind of disharmony (=Well, you have until the 22nd so maybe some inspiration will come to you soon. ^^

Hmm I'll see what I can do. If it turns out ok-ish I'll prolly submit it, and I think I just found the right quote too.This is going to soo hard to vote >_<
You guys were amazing with all those submissions!
Is it really that bad, lola? because you don't need a big image for it and you're free to edit the image, so maybe you can make some corrections to it
