Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

xD

Is that anime really that good? I'm sceptical.. I mean, I have pretty high standards in terms of anime (usually).
Not as good as a lot of people make it out to be, it's no TTGL. Still I would recommend it to you, it's quite entertaining and you never can complain about the art/animation it delivers. The story is good too, just don't expect anything epic (at least until it's current ep). Some middle episodes were quite meh to me but it got a lot better lately.

And hey Shin is enjoying the series a lot, that has to mean something right? XD

stop lying fangirl! It's not that great. Well great in a way but not that great. All of you make it sound like the show is oh so epic but it's just not on that level yet :p

Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

Well, there are two kinds of things I would describe epic. One is of course something like TTGL, with its episode 8, or as some people think, Madoka, with it's Homura revelation, or the genius thing that Code Geass or DN were. But there are also series like Bleach or Noblesse, that technically don't have any epic shockers, or not really anything that should make them stand out... yet I do enjoy them more than those I mentioned earlier, a little bit in case of TTGL or CG, not that big fan of Madoka.

So basically SAO is like a normal shounen, with great setting, great characters (though there's not that many actually are there?), great lovestory, great animation, great epic scenes, great lovestory and I overall like it that much P:

Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

There's only five manga/anime series that hold a special place in my heart. TTGL, Naruto, Dragon Ball, DRRR and to some extent Bleach. The latter only gets a place there because it was my second anime (well first if you don't count a decade of DBZ before that), and has been with me for so many years. But TTGL is just way too epic to be comparable D:

Bleach actually was and is the best (really) long-running anime. You can question some fillers but they always delivered when it came down to the canon staff. Where Bleach disappointed as a manga you could be sure the anime would be at least 2 times better.

All major fights had extraordinary animation and I honestly can't remember an episode (besides filler) that made me go "wow that sucked".

Yeah. Noblesse and Bleach are my absolute favorites. (I wasn't talking only about the anime though, I take manga and anime as one thing, the most important for me is the story and overall enjoyment)... soo, yh :D

Yeah but there's plenty of great manga that are just painfully mediocre as anime. There's a lot of reasons for that though.

Eyeshield 21 and Blade of the Immortal immediately come to mind.

Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

Naruto is from my experience the biggest anime rollercoaster. Some episodes are movie quality and truly fantastic, more so than most high budget short running anime series. But at the same time there's a huge load of absolute crap episodes with dreadful animation and art. Darj is right about Bleach though, it never got the same treatment, but at the same time Bleach didn't have those super-episodes (well a few, Aizen and Ulquiorra fights come to mind, but nowhere near as many as Naruto). From what I heard OP has average quality at best too.

Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

I believe OP is actually closer to Bleach. I'm not sure if it's currently this way but they used to take frequent breaks and even reduce episodes to once or twice a month because of the manga catching up to the anime. Which is something Naruto never did, they just churned out shit filler.

One Piece had it's glorious days but they are long gone. Last epic animation I remember was Shabondy Archipel, when the Strawhats got seperated.

Since the ~middle of Impel Down Arc the anime has been a mess :/

Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

Hasn't OP for for like, years, done 1-2 chapters per episode? From what I heard they've done this since before the War arc (that's when I first heard about it), which really makes every episode seem stretched out and have awful pace. But that's another aspect anyway, not really taking away from the animation and art. But really, I'd rather have Naruto style (some fillers) than have awfully stretched out canon episodes. At least with Naruto I can enjoy (...) the canon episodes and skip the fillers, but with OP style I'd have to endure slow canon. OP seems to be following the DBZ formula really. Suuuper slow progression, but mostly canon.

I've actually seen that episode! It's like 1/10 OP episodes I've ever seen fully :p

I got introduced to the episode through this AMV xD

Honestly one of my favorite AMVs (and afterwards songs).

Exactly my opinion. The slow pace is just horrible, I so wish they would just make one big filler Arc instead of this stretched out mixed with filler crap episode all the time :/

Nice AMV Nuno :thumbs

This one's good too:

Shows a bit of the war too, was a so-so animation wise.

Re: The Wolf's Den, beware of howling

Sweet one. Not to mention my all time favorite song of all time :super

Yet another AMV that introduced me to one of my later favorite songs.

I'm known for not being a big OP fan (having even dropped the manga for the third time now... haha), but OP has had its good moments back in the day. Part 2 OP just fails for me. I get such an epic feeling from these AMVs. Coming from me that really means something xD

On the subject of AMV. I have played around with the thought of putting together my first (and hopefully well done) AMV after Naruto wraps up as a tribute, containing all my favorite moments. It'll be such a pain to make though so it might never happen.... Not to mention I'm unsure if I want to do it with more characters than just Naruto.
