Vagabond is dragged? It only started in 1999, which is 10 years less than Berserk and I'm pretty sure the story entered its final arc, with the faceoff between Musashi and Kojiro.Inoue is another case, he had a few exhibits and he really has another long running series which as of now isn't the case of Miura. No announcement was made about Gigantomakhia becoming a long running series, or even getting a second volume. When I said he's like Inoue, that was for this case. They're peerless drawer and aren't Kazuo Kamimura. They can't produce four hundred pages per month, for two or more series. They have to drag one of their series.
That's actually the case with Vagabond. And let's hope that Miura isn't in this case...
As for Berserk, according to an interview Miura did a while back, the story is around 70%finished, before the pirate arc iirc. But in another interview he also said that he doesn't have a clear idea of how long the story will be. It's most likely that he's making it as he goes, and I don't think he's like shonens authors in that regard who not only drag their stories, but they use the same boring repetitive stuff. Berserk is certainly not like this. I've never felt bored while reading it or said "Hey look this is just X arc all over again". If he end us dragging it I'm sure that it would be because he wants to add something interesting and relevant (like a flashback of SK and the God hand) and that each arc will be unique in the way it unfolds, meaning that it won't repeat elements of previous arcs.
And of course the intricate art makes it less easy to produce chapters very fast, however considering Miura's experience, and the fact he has assistants, it's more likely that it is the inspiration for the drawings that can be time consuming. Between having the idea, and then doing some research to find the right kind of pictures that are later used to draw the buildings, the weapons, equipement etc, that must be time consuming, not the process of drawing itself. Authors don't have an unlimited amount of creativity and in the case of Berserk many places in the manga are based on real life buildings. So clearly Miura has to do his homework before putting everything on paper.
