I'm not really a fan of Casca, but she is Guts reason to move forwards; so I'll give her credit for that.

To be honest, I don't really like the women in Berserk. They're all a bunch of drama queens; except Slan - but she is technically a succubus, so...

I like Farnese(especially when she was a zealot ), but yeah compared to the male characters the female ones are weak. And yeah I'm not a Schierke fan either, I mean she's still a kid.
Slan is just Slan I guess She's amusing.

Maybe she can, but just doesn't care. I don't think her visions work in a way that makes her understand people. She supposedly just gets a hint of what could happen in the future. Like the one she told zodd

In her case maybe. She's the one who has a good chance of realizing what Griffith is, and even after learning what the Apostles are she didn't find it weird or anything. My guess is that even if she learns what Griffith is, she's still follow him, because she's so in love with him. And her attitude towards Charlotte is annoying, it's a fine case of petty jealousy.

Well I can agree with the pettiness, but she's a kid after all.

Her power isn't really fully fleshed out and since it seems to be more powerful around Griffith, it might be safe to say that he also influences the power itself. Not really sure.

I also like to draw parallels between Schierke-Guts and Sonia-Griffith. They might serve similar purposes.

Overall I'd say that there isn't enough strong female characters in Berserk, and tbh I never saw Caska as one(well except for the first half of the eclipse). Caska is mostly used as a device to makes Guts' quest move forward. First he abandonned his revenge to take care of her, then this whole quest to Elfhelm is motivated by his wish to find a safe place for her, but mostly because he wants to cure her. Caska is also one of the reasons Guts won't forgive Griffith for what he did, she was also the tool Femto used to hurt Guts. She's pretty much a tool at this point.
Only a few females like Luca strike me as strong, her interaction with Nina and her attitude back at Albion makes me think that. Flora is certainly wiser but overall she didn't get enough screetime. And Schierke while being a "strong" witch, she's still a kid. Before she met Guts she knew nothing of the world, the human world. Basic things eluded her,like that time at Vritannis(the scene with the Kushan that were executed). I guess it's the result of living a secluded life with Flora, she never really interacted with people let alone kids of her own age. And the trio with her, Isidro and Isma now is kinda annoying.And I don't like the fact that Schierke is becoming so important to the story, and to Guts in general.
Farnese is the only female character who started very weak, but slowly became strong. She's willing to follow her own beliefs, now that she isn't a zealot anymore. She still has her insecurities but overall she's the female character who had the most character development imo.

So she see only what Idea want her to see.

She is a tool of the causality, like everyone.

Even if she's useful for Guts and the story, she has become useless strictly speaking. You can replace her by a broken toaster, and Guts must seek a repairer. But a toaster doesn't attract rapers. If her memory returns, she'll have another development, but that's not for today.

The other characters doesn't need anymore development, even the male ones. Miura doesn't need to make them think and doubt about everything, he did that early. Now, their roles are stable. Isidro and Puck are just comic sidekicks. Serpico follows and protects Farnese, who learns magic. And Schierke discovers the world and loves Guts. But he's a little too old for her.

And Griffith's followers — Zodd, Sonia, Charlotte, etc. — are just sheeps.

Yes, and you can extend this to the two bands. Guts and Griffith are shepherds.

Nothing is set into stone, Guts could lose his group.... This is actually what I'm looking for in terms of "character development". It's true that right now character development isn't really needed, the world and the story is developing on its own but I can't help but think that the Golden age arc was so good, because it had the right balance between character development and the rest.

I agree that since the eclipse, Casca's role in the story if just being a damsel in distress, which is very sad.
That's why I'm really hoping she will get cure pretty soon.

Hopefully, they will soon meet the elf king and he will be ale to cure her.

Well, not every character needs development.

I still think that there are some room for Isidoro to grow and become an actual figther instead of the comic relief.
Going to the elf island, we might actually get some backstory for Puck (unlikely, but you never know).
Serpico is probably the less develiopped character of the manga, but I like him regardless

Arguabbly, Farnese is the one undergoing the most changes, going from a zealot to an apprentice to a witch.
This might explain why she's one of my favorite character right now.
