Why would you want the best manga of all time to get some attention anyway. Aren't you suffering with frustration like us? (Although this frustration is slight). Best manga can be said to the one which is completed and this one is far from it. It's better to ignore this manga for years and start reading it when it is finished although it seems unlikely.

I'd still rate Berserk in its unfinished state higher than all the complete manga I've read, and I've read loads of titles.
The fact that you have to wait endlessly for each release is the only negative thing about Berserk. If it wasn't the best manga, then it would've lost all its fans because of Miura's slow ass pace.
It survived all the hiatuses and the blood boiling breaks and people are still discussing the latest chapter on the subreddit, even though it was released ages ago...

On the other hand is there a news when Berserk will come back?

I guess that's why we have opinions? Berserk is a masterpiece on both story and art and honestly I've read so many mangas and none are at it's level of quality. Yes the wait is horrible but I'm accustomed to it now. I've been reading and following the manga for 13 years now anyways. This is par for the course and I will continue to sing it's praises far and wide because it deserves every last reader it can get.

Yeah Berserk is pretty much in my blood, I can easily forget other titles like SnK, but not Berserk. I always go back to it, and if I could I would only read it and drop any other title easily, if only it was released more often.
It's also more interesting to discuss it, the themes are pretty interesting.And the sources of inspiration too that Miura used. Shounens can't compare at all.

The only manga I liked anywhere near as much as Berserk was Giganto Machia. Miura's other 6 chapter title. He does such amazing work with everything. Dude is a god among mangaka.

Hmm it was ok, but it didn't leave such a big impact on me. It reminded me of Dune, with a giant Mecha lol, and I liked how varied the species were, but overall I would say Berserk is his best work period, and nothing comes close, not even his other works. I still think Vagadond is close, but it's definitely different from Berserk, and they have little in common in terms of themes, but they're both quality works. So as far as masterpieces go, those two titles can be considered that, with obviously Berserk coming first place, and Vagabond being slighly behind for me. I like both works a lot but for very different reasons.
If I were to compare Berserk to another work in terms of themes, it would be Devilman. You can definitely sense that Miura got inspired by Go Nagai's work, and it might even be he'll get inspired by it up till the ending, which is rather depressing.

I personally like Vagabond very much, But I'd still rank Blade of the Immortal above it... I lost interest in Vagabond right after when Ittosai bitch slapped Musashi. The long break that came after that ruined my enjoyment and I started drifting away slowly from that manga. That's why, as I said in a previous post, Berserk is the absolute number one. You just cannot lose interest even after the long breaks.

P.S: Listening to "Forces" is enough to reignites that fire in your chest.

If someone is looking for character-centric manga with atypical characters and themes that are found lurking in the dark in normal life then he should go for freesia.

After reading this masterpiece with its original artwork I bet many will rearrange their favorites

This year's 11th issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine revealed on Friday that the new Berserk television anime series will premiere on WOWOW on July 1 at 10:30 p.m. The anime will also air on MBS, TBS, and CBC starting on July 8, and on BS-TBS starting on July 9.

The anime's Twitter account has also been posting new anime character visuals over the past week:

The anime adapts Kentarou Miura's dark fantasy manga of the same name. Miura himself is serving as executive supervisor for the series. Shin Itagaki (Basquash!, Ben-To, Teekyū) is directing the anime. Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass, Ōsama-tachi no Viking, Yuruyuri San Hai!) is supervising the series scripts in collaboration with Takashi Yamashita (Cencoroll). Hisashi Abe (Pet Shop of Horrors, Gunslinger Girl, Chobits) is designing the characters. Shiro Sagisu (Berserk films, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Megazone 23) is composing the music. LIDEN FILMS is credited for production, while GEMBA and Millepensee are credited for animation production.

Susumu Hirasawa is composing an insert song title "Hai yo" (Oh Ashes), and 9mm Parabellum Bullet will perform the show's opening theme song "Inferno."

Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.

So it will air late in Japan. I'd rather we had news about when the manga will resume publishing, I'd still go for July.

Those images are going to be very useful. I hope they release more high quality pictures so that people could make more artistic pieces out of them. You cannot find decent Berserk themed wallpapers anywhere because it's hard to do line art from Miura's work...

Wouldn't say "hard" just mad time consuming. I did some line art transitions from panels and it took hours to keep the quality there. Stuff is mad detailed.

Yay! I wonder if they will be streaming it subbed simultaneously or if we'll just get the raw version. Praying for good subs anyways and eventually good Dubs from the original anime cast.

The anime got me into Berserk the manga, and I don't know why they did the anime that way, or stop it so early. For non-readers it doesn't make that much difference, but they miss on all the later implications in Guts character and all the persons surrounding him.
A lot of people might consider the relation of Guts/Band of the Hawks as central in the Guts psyche if looking at the anime only, but it's possibly not entirely true: if this was true it mean that Guts has been sucked in the maelstrom of fate, but it's been established that he's one of the rare being that live outside fate. So even if it's admitted that his encounters with the Hawks got him where he is now, it was probably just something he had to go through to realize his own destiny OUTSIDE the flow of fate.
Erh...just meant to say, go read the manga, there's much more there.

He only became someone who lives outside fate AFTER the eclipse and the sacrifice. So your analysis isn't accurate, prior to the eclipse Guts was still subjected to fate. It was fate, or more accurately causality, that made it so that he'd hear Griffith saying that someone who doesn't have a dream is not worthy of being his friend. Because of that Guts wanted to pursue his dreams and it was Guts leaving that precipitated all the events that lead to the Eclipse. And that too is subjected to fate, but since now he's a sacrifice it is generally thought that he is free of fate, but that's not 100% sure either.
So the Golden age arc, which is what the anime covers mostly, is about the relationship between Guts, Griffith and the BoTH. And it's still one of the reasons why Guts wants to take his revenge. What comes after, and Guts being free of fate is only thanks to the Eclipse, which wouldn't have been possible without all that's happened before that.
And again the BoTH, Caska and even Griffith himself are the major reasons behind Guts still wanting to get his revenge. You can't deny that it played a big part in his psyche.

True. Another favourite Seinen of mine is Tokyo Ghoul, and that anime was.... Butchered worse than any character in Beserk has died XD

Oh yes. Whether it's in 1997 when the first Berserk anime aired or in more recent years, they always butcher the source material. At least with the old anime they got the characters and their interactions right, which is more than I can say about the movies for example.
It would have been more interesting if the movies covered the blackswordsman arc, was it really necessary to redo the Golden age? Not sure, but it can be seen as them testing the waters, to see if a new adaptation will be popular enough, before they decided to adapt the rest of the manga.

I'm still only a newcomer to the Berserk manga and honestly I love it's style. A pity about the laborious chapter releases though... At the moment, my all time favorite manga is Tokyo Ghoul/Tokyo Ghoul:re but Berserk runs a close second :3

Yeah the manga release is a pain, but I'd say with the new anime coming this could be a good time to get into Berserk. It's nice to see it get the attention that it deserves. I'd love a new Berserk game too.

When TG anime started, I thought that it was the best opportunity to get into the series because I heard many good things about it. It turned out to be a terrible idea... That anime sucked camel balls and I lost all my appetite and ended up dropping the manga when Re came out... I could be wrong, but I think that reading the manga is the best way to start Berserk. The movies and anime come after.
