I bought them on amazon (took me 7 months to collect all of them), each volume costs around $15 but you're bound to find discounts, especially during the holiday season.

its certainly worth 15$ per volume, best artwork and best story of any manga ive seen, regardless of genre

i would probably prefer to buy the whole series as a boxed set once the manga is finished though

I was watching a video (zegodhand on Youtube) and the guy pointed out something I have been noticing, but until this panel I had no idea how different it became.

I have to agree when he says it is not bad but it became a little... childish.
Is it true Miura has now people working for him (and that is the reason for the change)?
Or is he just getting a little old and then his detailed job is now a bit more difficult than it was before (and that is the reason for the hiatus)?

Do you guys know?
And what do you think about this change?

As I understood he always had people help with the inking (coloring the lines dark) but he did all the background and foreground art which is why it takes him so long. Most manga are not nearly this detailed but still have people specialize in the background art, lining etc while the mangaka generally directs the whole thing and does the initial drawings. I think it could just have been something that got by him or it could be on purpose. Guts is feeling optimistic finally being so close to bring Caska's mind back. Perhaps the happier art style is symbolism for how Guts is feeling?

Exactly like the rest of the Manga published on the Magazine.

This guy is a bit too rigid in his beliefs, I don't completely disagree with everything he says about Miura and Berserk but it's close enough I guess, have you posted this on SK yet? I really wanna see Aazealh's and Walter's response.

To be honest, it’s a painful piece. As I said before, it’s been implemented wrong. You’re good at establishing a theme before you write, but unfortunately, you’ve written it with a certain detachment.
In my view, Miura-sensei, you’re still letting your talent go to waste. I want you to keep asking, “What am I looking at? Is it correct?” For example, you do a lot of research for the sake of your work, but you shouldn’t! Why? Because you aren’t the kind of author that needs to study. You have the art and the storyline all in your head.

You’ve done a lot of research in order to dig into the theme, which you try too hard to convey through dialogue.

I strongly disagree, research is pivotal to any story, Berserk's world feels vivid, fantastic and authentic partly because of Miura's extensive research.

Perhaps he's talking about the info dumps in volumes 24 and onward in which case I agree but not completely.

I think that’s something of an illusion. I think by depicting characters, stories will come naturally. Another thing is that you, yourself, mustn’t take on the perspective of an editor. Writers like you have an editor within you as well, which is why you’re so self-critical. You end up seeing problems that not even your editor notices, and you end up cutting things out of your work.

True, characters are usually the heart of a story (GRRM swears by it) but it's not necessary to focus on only the characters to drive a story, Isaac Asimov's Foundation series is a great example.

He makes a fair point.

Also, you don’t need to do backgrounds.

Anyone can do addition with enough time, but subtraction takes brains. You ought to do more subtraction. Also, your personality is too pure and sincere. I’m amazed that you lived your life so long with such purity (laughs).

Yes, he doesn't need to do backgrounds but damn it we love his art (remember Volume 33 and 34?).

Is this the guy who convinced Sui Ishida to stop drawing noses? but jokes aside he is right, proper subtraction adds to the picture.

I’ve been getting a bit bigheaded lately. I think Torishima-san has given me an opportunity to break through that with his stimulating words.

I detect sarcasm here , Miura is one of the most humble authors I know.

I can understand his comment of Berserk being painful because of the amount of care taken for every single nuance in every single page that creates a highly slow pace and put a cloud on Muira's talent.

Oda has the art and the story-line all in his head. The drawing style expresses his talent and story is told with subtlety. Torishima is telling Muira to be like Oda.

When he talks about volume 13, Torishima is referring to the catharsis pertaining to the carnage about all the acquainted and relished characters.. It's the feelings that were completely released there. After that Muira turned slightly towards his mechanical side where he became self-critical.

Really, he should have been in young jump.
