I doubt anyone would take up berserk. I think it would be seen as disrespectful if it was not the explicit wish of Miura that someone takes over.

My guess it would be up to family and Hakusensha. Not sure how I would feel about it, but there's too little we know about his team and Studio Gaga, maybe they'd be equipped to do it, maybe not. But I would not envy making that decision.

I am really sure that it will not happen. If Miura had died in old age and already told people what he wished for, that'd be another thing. But he died young and suddenly. I doubt anybody near him expected it. It is possible of course.

I mean, Guin Saga got taken up. But then again, Miura was not the type of guy who excessively planned. He said in an interview he had an ending in mind but generally keeps things loose iirc. I think whoever would take berserk up would have to actually write the story and not just follow Miura's notes.

That might be really hard to do.

There's a difference between having a concrete outline and having ideas. Also from interviews and accounts he had a lot of ideas, so I don't get the impression that it was all locked away in his head necessarily.

I think it can be done by the people who supported him until now if there is a really good writer among them, but the question would be whether they can emotionally do that.

If i imagine being an assistant who cared for Miura, then just taking up his work with a good chance to botch it would not be something i'd just do. What I could imagine is somebody doing a Berserk spin off to test the waters and to test whether it works and then make a decision.

A bit late here. I can only say may you rest in peace Miura. This is not something I expected.

Berserk is a magnificent piece of art, and Miura will be forever remembered by any manga fan because of this. While it may be a shame the story did not end before his sudden departure, this is the least of my worries as I could reread the entire story over and over. That's how good it is.

I just hope that in case the series continue somehow that they won't sully his work with some awful ending. In fact, I would rather see the story stop here than have an awful ending.

I know this is late but RIP Miura-sensei. People's concerns about the mangaka passing away before finishing the series turned out to be well-founded. Truly a tragedy.

Hopefully Berserk will be finished by someone else to make it a memorable piece for Muira as one of the best manga ever

Hopefully such sudden demise doesn't happen with Eichiro Oda (The author of One Piece)

My guess is not very long. I'm also a bit confused as to why Young Animal isn't clarifying the future of the series yet either.

Probably more decisions still to be made by the estate which would have the ultimate call on these things no? If this chapter was fairly ready to go then it makes sense they'd give this one the thumbs up eventually, whether there will be anything more after this might be announced when the chapter comes out.

Well no, most likely. It'd be up to Hakusensha and whoever else would be working on it as well. Since it was a sudden death it doesn't seem like there'd be firm plan in place according to his wishes.

What I'm getting at is the add-ons mentioned for this chapter, it seems like something that would be there for the "end" of the series under normal circumstances, but there's no such announcement concerning that. I'm getting mixed signals from it.

Apparently the Big Berserk Exhibition's first day is the same day the chapter comes out, so if it is the last chapter and they're keeping that info under wraps for some PR reason I'll be immensely pissed off about that.

Supposedly this isn't a formal announcement but a leak, but if that's the case then you'd think the series ending would be clarified either way...idk

There's lots of factors really, how far ahead they were with planning, what could feasibly be released if something were to be released etc.

I think it's nice they're finally having a tribute to him, in one sense it could be the last chapter we get to go along with that; I suppose they would've mentioned it would be the last one if they were certain but I suppose we don't really know. Could be an explanation coming with the chapter, potentially the staff inherit the series and try to complete it as best they can following Miura's intentions?

Oh right, the exhibition is still yet to be shown! Forgot it was delayed, in a way there's more of a sentimental weight to it now. Will be good to see pictures of the big Zodd statue.
