Short Recap,Chapter 239: Having suffered a crushing defeat by the hands of Zeno of the Dark Triad from Spade Kingdom,Yuno was left at the brink of death along with several other Golden Dawn Members. If not for William having left behind a seed created by his World Tree Magic,he left it behind in order to heal and save the seriously wounded Members from dying despite his own struggle against Zeno. He casted World Tree Magic: Budding of Yggdrasil which managed to save half of the Golden Dawn Members from succumbing to their serious wounds but failed to save the other half as their injuries were too grave to be saved from. The Golden Dawn's Manpower has been cut in half along with their Spirit, how can they ever make up for this? The Frustration sits deep and even Yuno cannot help but cry out in anger and frustration over the recent event that left them with nothing but comrades to mourn and a missing Captain Vengeance. Meanwhile, the Dark Triad Members Vanica and Dante are making their moves towards Heart Kingdom and Yami Sukehiro,Captain of the Black Bulls from Clover Kingdom...

Black Clover - Chapter 240 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: The Great War Breaks out

This Week's Chapter of Black Clover starts out in Heart Kingdom where Loropechika is busy spoiling Charmy with all sorts of Food,it appears that the Princess of Heart Kingdom has taken a liking to the problem child of the Black Bulls but just as they're having the fun of their lives the Princess notices a sudden interference in her Mana Zone Barrier, she immediatly creates a Map out of her Water Spirit Magic that shows the entirety of Heart Kingdom along with 6 glowing markers scattered across the country. Those markers symbolise Enemies,Spade Kingdom has begun their invasion already. All 6 Enemies possess Devil Powers and are all Stage Zero with one of them being even more powerful than them, that being Vanica of the Dark Triad who happens to be possessed by the Devil Megicula. Noelle instantly recognizes it's name and readies herself for battle as the scene cuts away to the Black Bulls Hideout which is currently located near Spade Kingdom's Border due to unknown reasons but we can guess that the Black Bulls were meant to start a surprise attack on Spade Kingdom in order to throw them off guard. In terms of War tactics it would make sense to me,however,Asta and Finral just arrived from Heart Kingdom along with some snacks for the Black Bulls to eat. Something that is welcomed by Vanessa as there is nothing that goes along with a drink at their base,as Finral drops Asta and the Food off he goes to pick up Yami who is currently attending a Captain's Conference at Clover Kingdom while Asta asks about Henry's well being. Apparently Henry is low on Mana so he decided to sleep, since Charmy isn't here to have him restore some of his Mana through eating he's resting instead. However, just as the Black Bulls are trying to catch up with another an ominous presence is felt by Henry from outside which he makes clear by just yelling "Hey you guys!!!".

Gauche wonders what might be going on and walks towards the Window but as he looks outside he only notices that their base is floating for some reason, upon hearing this Vanessa instantly summons Rouge in order to protect the other Bulls from any impacts or attacks that could follow. We're now being shown who the attacker is and it is revealed to be Dante of the Dark Triad from Spade Kingdom who in the previous chapter declared that he would be coming for Yami since he is an Arcane Stage Mage, he has already noticed that Yami is currently not at the base so instead of looking for him he has decided to "play" with the Black Bulls instead. Just like the base,he too is floating. While he appears to be confident of his powers he is quickly met by resistance from Henry who uses his Recombination Magic: The Raging Black Bull! to attack Dante while in midair, Gauche informs the others that this opponent is very bad news and that nobody needs to hold back here as he starts an attack of his own to backup Henry. He casts Large Reflect Refrain! while Henry throws a Mana Rocket Punch!,as the attacks are about to make contact Dante comments on his opponents insolence to dare attack him as he uses Gravity Magic: Presence of the Demon King!(Which i guess is a reference to his design being alike to a King's with the Royal Garments,Crown etc. and his usage of a Demon's powers). However those are not the only things affected by that Spell as all the trees in the environment surrounding them snap in half from the sheer pressure of the Gravity Magic, even the boulder Henry shot is breaking apart from it's power. Gauche labels it as a "Monster Spell" as not just the Trees but also the Black Bulls would have been snapped in half if not for Rouge's reality warping powers.

As Dante realizes this he gets a rather sadistic look on his face,as he finds it wonderful that there is a Stage Zero Mage besides Yami inside the base but just as he finishes he's forced to dodge a Black Slash fired by Asta who challenges Dante to be his opponent as he flies towards him on his Demon Slayer...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 7.5 out of 10.

Well this is going a little too quickly, didn't think we'd get to see some of the Triad's capabilities this early on in the Arc but i guess this is where Vanica and Dante get established as proper threats, since Zeno already is given his current feats, either that or it's being made clear who among them actually is the Top Dog by having one of them lose or retreat to one of the main cast members. Felt like Dante was the Leader since he seemed to be giving the assignments to both Zeno and Vanica before, well that and because of his design with the crown and everything. Oh well,we're about to see what he's made of soon enough. I feel like he's either gonna lose to Asta or be forced to retreat once Yami joins in,seems likely that he will together with Finral, feels unlikely that he can attack the MC with his gang and get away with it safe and sound. Zeno had a fairly easy time against the Golden Dawn, but i doubt Dante will have it the same way. Golden Dawn is hailed as the strongest Magic Knight Squad but truthfully that is most likely due to their Numbers and the fact that they harbor low class Nobles, that paired with the strength of Captain Vengeance,Langris and Yuno. They're strong, but nothing the Black Bulls cannot match if not surpass IMO. Yami himself is very strong, has a rather unique Magic in his universe and has respectable Mana reserves, thanks to the Dark Triad coming after him we also know that he is an Arcane Stage Mage as well(Not that i give much about these PL-Tiers but since it matters within the series-). He's got pretty capable and established figthers in his Squad with useful and versatile Magics if used and controlled properly, plus,Asta the Anti-Magic user that can negate pretty much any attack thrown at him. They are good at coordinating with each other's attacks and Magics, reading their opponents and thanks to Vanessa's Rouge there is low risk of taking serious damage no matter the opponent for them. Yeah, they've got this i think. So i guess Noelle,Charmy,Gaja,Loropechika and Mimosa will end up fighting against Vanica while the Black Bulls take on Dante? Seems likely, not sure what to think about Loropechika claiming that Vanica is possessed by Megicula since i thought that Devil had split his power into fragments and placed them into the Dark Triad for them to make use of it,but i guess it would make sense for Zeno to say that he will show Yuno "his" Devils power now. Oh well, guess we'll have to wait and see for now, looking forward to it as usual.

Black Clover Chapter 241 Review by Hermit

Asta launches an attack at Bluenote, who has just attacked their hideout. Bluenote fires one back, but Asta counterattacks with the magic negating sword. The Dark Triad member soon realizes that Asta is being protected by strange magic, which he pin points to Vanessa. He then heads inside the guild to confront Vanessa. Asta tries to intervene, but gets slammed into the ground immediately. Bluenote then asks Vanessa to be his woman. Asta shows up again, this time in his black form.

This catches Bluenote by surprise, admitting that he had no knowledge that someone was possessed by a devil within Clover Kingdom. Using Black Divider (The same sword that Asta used against the Word Devil), he tries homing in on the enemy, but to no effect. Gauche decides to help out, using his Mirror Brigade to multiply Asta such that several of them are closing in on Bluenote. The chapter caps off with Asta taunting him to dodge the attack.

Pros:
-Vanessa's magic making a comeback. I have to admit, it's really nice seeing the author have it show up in battle scenarios involving the Black Bulls. Also, it has realistic limitations in how much of fate it can really affect.
-Gauche's magic making a comeback as well. One of the most creative abilities in the series, hands down.
-Dante is the real deal as an opponent, which is a treat. Though I suppose that's standard shonen at the start of every battle arc.

Cons:
-Yami not being there yet? Quite obvious that the Black Bull Members, despite their teamwork, are no match for Dante by himself. He might also be stronger than Yami, but that's something we need to see for ourselves.

Chapter rating: 7.5/10

Black Clover Chapter 242 Review by Hermit Mk. II

Very good chapter cover this week. Noelle looks particularly beautiful in her Valkyrie Dress.

Following up from last week's chapter, Asta charges at Dante. Dante activates 50% of his devil power, and it covers him the same way that Zeno did before. The space in front of Asta distorts, dissolving all his attacks. He proceeds to then step on the main character's shoulder, pinning him to the ground.

Once Asta is on the ground, Dante tells him that since they both have the same Master, they should be able to see eye to eye. Asta tells him to cut it out, saying that Dante killed his master, his teacher, and also destroyed Konoha. There was no way they could be able to come to a compromise. Dante then tells Asta that HIS parents, his friends and his village was destroyed by Clover Kingdom. What Dante was doing to Asta now was no different from what had happened to him in the past.

Dante then adds on that Asta is weak. Why? Because he lacks, hatred. He then proceeds to run Gauche through with one of his metal rods. There's a small flashback where we see Kushina cudding Asta as a baby, before the Nine Tails transformation is triggered. The 3rd tail appears from Asta's body, and Dante is heavily pleased.

Pros:
-Dante's speech to Asta when on the ground. Solid stuff. Actually makes a pretty good point about evil and the root of humanity.
-Asta's transformation looks hella awesome.

Cons:
-Gauche is not dead. So the stab scene will end up meaning nothing in the end.

Black Clover - Chapter 245 Review + 243/244 Recap by Seraph

Chapter 243: Devil Host vs. Devil Host

Asta after having lost control over his Black Form underwent another and much more powerful Transformation, the Anti Magic that previously covered only half of his body now covers roughly 60-70% of it while also transforming Asta's leg and arm into demonic claws. Arrogant as he is Dante playfully challenged Asta but soon had to learn that he was up against a completely changed and much more powerful Magic Knight than before, having lost all reasoning Asta attacks in a very wild manner all over the place while also displaying that this form is capable of extending and changing his sword/s shape a fair bit more than he used to be capable of. Impressive and Destructive as this display is,it's not enough to inflict damage on Dante at first,as he dodges the attacks he reveals that his devils name is "Lucifero" who goes on to reveal that the Devil that Asta and Co. took on in the Shadow Palace is named "Zagred" who left the underworld a while ago. Dante believes Asta is a low ranking nobody and so is his Devil so they won't stop a High Ranking Devil nor the Dark Triad,he begins his counterattack but Asta remains intent on striking Dante down and flies towards it. As a Rain of Rocks is falling down on Asta he displays quick reaction time and reflexes as he effortlessly cuts through all of them as he closes in on Dante, meanwhile Vanessa and Grey begin to lose hope that Gauche will make it,the fight continues with Asta countering another one of Dante's attacks with his Black Hurricane! while also firing at Dante with several Black Slashes! but to no avail as the Dark Triad Member dodges them easily. Suddenly the battle seems to lean into Asta's favor as he suddenly appears in front of Dante and manages to strike him with a Black Slash!,the damage is minimal but it is a cut on Dante's face and he isn't happy about it...

Chapter 244: Cinderella Grey

As Asta continues swinging away at Dante the Dark Triad Member begins his counterattack, despite not wanting to soil his actual hands with "trash" like Asta he has no choice and so he casts Gravity Magic: Heavy Infighting! which is a spell that lightens Dante's body but makes his fists very heavy to make for a combo of very quick but also powerful hits as he clobbers away at Asta who can not manage to defend himself anymore nor react to this attack at all. Back on the ground we see Grey crying over Gauche's possible demise, the wound is too big and deep and his breath seems to be fading prompting Grey to have a flashback to her Life before joining the Black Bulls. So,anybody that has watched or read the story of Cinderella as a kid will feel like being thrown back in time reading this because Grey's story is awfully similar to hers: The Youngest Child, always cleaning and doing the majority of the housework while being bullied by her own Mother and both her step sisters for being "ugly" and dirty. However since this is Black Clover there is of course a slight change: Grey managed to learn her Transformation Magic while secretly practicing after her housework, the first time she uses her Magic she transforms into one of her sisters only to end up bullied again but also chased out of the house as the Sisters are literally losing their minds over this and begin attacking her for it. As Grey runs away it is revealed that her last name is "Whiteley" which is a Noble House from Clover but not located within the Kingdom, that revelation is made by a bunch of thieves attempting to rob Grey and kidnap her. As the thugs are about to attack they're quickly defeated by Gauche who has been told by Marie to save Grey,as Grey wanted to thank him he set her straight: It was only because Marie wanted it,and she shouldn't try to run away from home if she isn't prepared to fight for what she wants in the future, the World isn't kind and neither are some of the people inhabiting it. Back in the current time Grey manages to somehow reverse the damage inflicted upon Gauche through a new type of Magic but before Vanessa can classify it they're interrupted by the Downfall of Asta by the hands of Dante who managed to witness Grey's magic and now wants her along with Vanessa to be his women. A sudden cut through the ground in front of him picks his attention as Yami arrives alongside Finral to stop the guy intending to mess with his Subordinates.

Chapter 245: Dante vs. The Captain of the Black Bulls

Dante identifies Yami by his Magic whereas Yami recognizes Dante to be one of the Spade Devil Hosts,However,as Yami notices the wounded and defeated Asta&Gauche he adds that he doesn't care who Dante really is because no matter what he is going to die here. The Dark Triad Member praises Yami's malice towards him but he won't allow the Captain to make light of him,he casts his Gravity Magic: Presence of the Demon King! to pull Yami towards the ground along with Finral who can barely maintain consciousness in the midst of this. Yami manages to withstand the Gravity pressure barely but as he shrouds himself and Finral with his Mana Zone it becomes a lot more bearable for them,Dante praises Yami for not groveling by his feet already but he is quickly shocked by the Captains prowess as Yami reveals that he has been training and learning new spells the past 6 Months all for this war against Spade and will give it a try against the Dark Triad Member now as he casts Mana Zone + Dark Magic: Black Hole = Dark Magic: Black Moon! which creates a Black Sphere above Yami creating an anti-gravitational field effectively nullifying the Gravity Magic cast before. As Finral makes his escape to Vanessa and Co. Dante prepares another attack for Yami by lightening a big Rock to throw it towards him with inertia, naturally the Rock flies super fast but Yami effortlessly gets rid of it by using his Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash! with full strength. Dante is shocked by Yami's display as he cut through Space but he gathers himself quickly while claiming that this is what an Arcane Stage Mage is supposed to be like and that is why the Dark Triad desires them and crafts a sword for himself out of a nearby boulder. He uses Gravity Magic: Heavy Infighting Gladiator! to lighten his entire body while also making his sword swings heavier,Yami praises his speed but enters his Mana Zone again to gain speed to react timely, naturally Yami is also reading Dante's KI to put less strain on his body. Dante begins to feel ecstatic over Yami's powers but Yami isn't having any of it and continues to clash with him at high speeds, as Yami asks what the Triad wants him for Dante responds that they need him since he is a Key to the Underworld,he begins to mock Yami that while despite being part of their agenda he is so "shabby" and yet surrounded by multiple Arcane Stage Mages that will eventually serve Dante himself. He adds that he has never been jealous of another man but Yami gives him the cold shoulder, his subordinates won't serve Dante and he doesn't care about their power levels either as he only invited them into the Black Bulls because he liked them. He sheaths his sword again to go for an Iai-Slash as he casts Mana Zone: Condense, creating a Barrier that immediatly lets him react to any intruder/s all the while Dante charges at him from behind already. Yami informs the Dark Triad Member that he won't hand any of his Black Bulls over, especially not to him as he casts: Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Iai Slash! and cuts Dante across his chest, having immediatly reacted to his surprise attack and sliced him in return rather than defend himself.

Personal Thought's

I rate these Chapters a 9 out of 10.

Chapter 243/244 Opinion:

So the Word Devil's name was Zagred and he counted as a Higher Ranking Devil huh? Yet he was defeated by the gang Pre TS,guessing these Devils need Hosts in order to manifest more and stronger power, even though they may be powerful on their own already. Perhaps having a Host with strong mana and affinity can amplify their own powers a lot too? More input. And Dante's Devil is called "Lucifero"? Interesting, and he can interact with the Devil too. So we only need to hear Zenon's Devil next and we have the Triad complete with Vanica harboring Megicula.
Asta's new form is pretty impressive, gives him more range and versatility it seems though it may have rough backlash afterwards. But at the very least he managed to scratch Dante now, curious if he can regenerate this damage or if it will remain. He'll definitely backfire though, anyway,i'm gonna be looking forward to it as always.

Grey's Magic impressed me,her background was also fairly interesting even if it was a reference to a very popular Fairy Tale mostly. I wonder if she reversed the Damage or transformed the Blade into flesh and blood of Gauche? I mean, unless she is a hybrid she cannot use 2 Kinds Magic right? I think that is what Charmy's fight with Rill was supposed to convey. Hoping we get more of Grey in the future, good that the Author didn't forget her. And as expected, Asta lost to Dante but he bought enough time for Yami to arrive so i commend him,i would've wanted more on his devil but i guess we're going to get that soon this arc if the story does lead to the Underworld at some point. Perhaps there is an actual Demon King waiting for us in this Manga and the 3 Devils from Spade want to revive him? I'm hyped for it,even if the Trope feels somewhat overrused to me,Black Clover likes breaking out of the norms.

Chapter 245 Opinion:

Pretty strong stuff from Yami here, that's the kind of power i expect from a Captain that spent half a year training and was high tier before already. That Black Moon Spell is pretty cool, didn't think Yami could easily overcome Dante's Magic despite his training but i did expect him to put up a decent fight here. So they're after Yami because he is a key to the Underworld? Does that go for all Arcane Stages or just him due to his Dark Magic that even Zagred feared because it was able to damage him? It would make sense to me,William i'm a little confused by then but it seems that powerful magics and Mana is being sought by them hence most of the ones they were looking for were Captains, had Captain Class abilities or very unique Magics like Vanessa's Rouge.
I expect Dante to get back up and continue fighting, either that or he remains unconcious and upon being captured he does something drastic to outrun them. Either one works for me but i can also just see him retreat,he's been damaged fairly badly by that last attack so it would be no surprise. It's a little too early for the Triad to fall apart imo. Of course he can always just go and use more of his Devils Power too, best Yami in another clash and take him to Spade Kingdom. Open for any outcome so let's see.

Till next time everybody!!!

Black Clover Chapter 246 review by Belserion

Chapter Title: The Tree of Qliphoth

This week’s chapter begins with Asta inside his head. His devil is going absolutely berserk promising to kill, I’m guessing Dante/Lucifero, for injuring him. Asta is confused about what’s going on but shortly after, he wakes up and remembers what was happening and the fight with Dante. He’s relieved to feel Gauche’s ki, which signals he’s still alive, but is surprised to see Yami facing off against Dante.

Yami explains to Dante that when Mana Zone is condensed the mana is thicker and therefore the Quick Draw techniques in his sword never miss. Dante starts laughing like a maniac seeming both shocked and pleased that he has to resort to using a certain technique. His flesh where Yami had cut him begins to bubble over and heal. Dante compliments Yami and begins to explain what his plans are. Apparently years ago Dante was bored and tired of everything and nothing satisfied his malice. We see small snapshots of his life growing up, as a boy he killed animals, then it looks like he joined the Spade Army and the killing he did wasn’t enough, he took women to his bed but that didn’t satisfy him either, then ultimately we see the king laying dead before him and what heralded the beginning of the Dark Triads reign. He tells Yami that this is where it starts and that he, Yami, will be the one to open the gate to a more magnificent world. Yami is unimpressed and tells Dante he doesn’t have a freakish power that allows him to link them to the underworld. Dante decides its story time and asks Yami what links their world to the underworld. He doesn’t wait for an answer. He tells him it’s a magic channel called the Tree of Qliphoth. What’s required to create a tree of Qliphoth are Arcane Stage, Dark Magic and World Tree Magic. So basically this is why they’re after Yami and William. Yami is surprised they know about William, and asks Dante what happens if their world links to the underworld. Dante tells him that if it happens Devils will pour into the world and fill it to the brim with every sort of malice. Then he starts laughing again like he just told the best joke. He tells Yami he’s really looking forward to it and Yami resolves to wipe him out right there.

We move on to Spade Kingdom. Some dark disciples are moaning about being bored and one of them mentions hearing a rumor that a clover spy has infiltrated their Kingdom. His comrade laughs it off and claims only a suicidal person would try infiltrating them. In Dante’s room, a hooded figure goes through his things and comes across the plans for the tree of Qliphoth. Just then, he’s confronted by one of the dark disciples who deduces that this must be the Clover spy. He prepares to attack, only for the hooded figure to literally disappear. Suddenly two hands appear out of the shadows beneath the disciple and pulls him underground. Afterwards, we see the hooded figure walking out of Dante’s room, the Black Bulls symbol on the pack around their waist.

Chapter Rating: 8/10.

This was an alright chapter. Basically it was an info dump about the Dark Triads plans for hunting these arcane stage mages, and Yami and William in particular. It’s honestly a bit too generic for my liking. The Dark Triad seems to be a bunch of bored Mages with nothing better to do than to wreak havoc for their own amusement. At least the Elves had a purpose when they declared war. What will be interesting is if they do succeed in having the devil’s pour into the world. Yami seems to think he will be able to defeat Dante but honestly I doubt it. The only way Yami escapes is if Finral wakes up or the mysterious Shadow mage arrives to help since they seem to be able to travel within shadows. Speaking of which, I’m glad we’re being introduced to new Black Bulls members. Compared to the other squads they were way too small in number. This might be the vice captain. Hopefully we see more of him or her in the upcoming chapters and they don’t drag out this teaser too long.

Black Clover Chapter 247 Review by Hermit

I like Luck quite a bit. Him, Vanessa and Noelle are my favorite Black Bulls members. As for the actual chapter, it was honestly mostly a disappointment. More on this to follow:

The Heart Kingdom is under siege, as the perspective of the manga switches from Asta's group to Loropechika and her side.

Loropechika is in her throne room, and she watches, despairingly, as the kingdom's citizens are helpless. Strangely enough, Four of Spirit Guardians are also taken down offscreen (=.=). The Heart Queen is shocked at how powerful the Dark Triad underlings are, even with just a portion of devil's power.

Noelle and Mimosa are also both watching. Luck plus a few people have been sent to help, and Noelle is sure they will be just fine. The scene then switches to one of the fallen Spirit Guardians. Vanica's underling, Svenking is standing over him and berating him for being weak. Svenkin reveals that his devil abilities are at 50%.

Svenkin moves to attack an innocent mother and her daughter, but Luck shows up and saves the two. He attacks the Spade Kingdom foe, but he can't pierce his Hierro. Svenkin smacks Luck away with a blow, before Luck follows up with another attack. This time, he uses a ranged magic attack, which sadly cannot pierce the skin of his enemy.

As it turns out, Svenkin's Skin Magic allows him to turn his skin into the same attribute as that of his enemies's magic. Which makes him both the strongest spear and shield. Luck asks him why is he attacking the Spade Kingdom, and he admits it is for Lady Vanica.

Luck is then asked about himself, why he is putting his life on the line for strangers. He has a small flashback, before saying it is because he is a Magic Knight.

Pros:
-Seeing Luck get a fight. Even though his opponent is heavily forgettable. I like Luck's magic too, though I wish we'd see a new move from him. Or even if he can evolve his magic. Considering his opponent is completely resistant to lightning, will be interesting to see how Luck copes. Maybe Leopold will show up next chapter.

Cons:
-Everything else in this chapter was a giant NO. First of all (The biggest problem), is how did FOUR of the Spirit Guardians lose to unnamed fodder? I would understand if they were facing off the likes of Zenon (Took out an entire guild by himself), or even Vanica. But seriously, losing to lackeys? After being hyped up as the same people who would train Asta and co........what? What is this writing? Doesn't make sense, in the least bit. If it is setting up for the Black Bulls to hog all the glory Iam going to be very annoyed

Chapter rating: 5/10

Black Clover - Chapter 248 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Luck vs Svenkin

This Week's Chapter of Black Clover begins with a flashback to 6 months ago where Asta brought Luck and Magna over to Heart Kingdom to have Gaja teach them how to create runes from natural Mana, since they both use Nature based magic attributes they're very well suited for this kind of training. Magna with his Flame Magic and Luck with his Lightning Magic,it was planned for Zora to attend the training as well but apparently he preferred to remain by himself and train by himself. Gaja begins to show them how to create runes and explains that if one cannot do this then it would be impossible to create an array during battle,Magna tries it but seems to struggle which Gaja blames on his low reserves of Mana. Magna is at Stage 5 but if he wants to handle arrays in combat then he needs to at least reach Stage 3,in other words: He needs to get stronger before he can attempt the training of creating runes. Luck on the other hand seems to be a natural at creating runes with the Mana from the Atmosphere as he creates multiple runes immediatly, while Magna walks out frustrated by his lack of power Luck claims that he will just get stronger on his own. When Asta tries to stop Magna Luck tells him that if Magna gets stopped by this then that was all he was worth. Gaja explains that the more complex the array is the more powerful your Magic can become, since the runes work like orders for the Magic they are applied to,so mastering the runes and finding out the perfect pattern for your Combat Style will ultimately be the deciding factors in making your Magic stronger.

Lucks first task was to think up a pattern that would suit his combat style, shortly after he approached Gaja to have him teach the True Lightning Magic. Gaja explains that it is very powerful Magic and generates Real Lightning,it took him 2 years to master it completely despite being a Spirit Guardian. Another factor that he can do it so well is that he specializes in using Discharge Spells while Luck is proficient with using Equip Spells and creating arrays quickly by his hands and feet. If he can focus on strengthening these talents more he'll be able to use powerful magic that is solely his. Back in the present Svenkin begins to mock Luck over his failed attempts of injuring him before, his speed will be useless against the Skin Magic he employs. Luck attacks once more and this time even faster due to more using more arrays this time but it still fails to damage Svenkin as his Skin Magic detects Magic and instantly reacts,as he tries to counter Luck with a punch the latter abandons his Armor's boot to dodge. Svenkin praises Luck for using clever tricks but since he can't allow himself to be shown up he uses a clever trick of his own as he casts Skin Magic: Skin Fort! which results in several cannon barrels forming across his body in order to hit luck with Magic Shells. Luck begins to take Damage again and looks pretty worn out but he continues to move around in a quick fashion, ordering his Magic to "get faster" resulting in flashier and even quicker movements allowing him to get a hit in on Svenkin even. Luck's Speed has now surpassed his Skin Detection!. Svenkin deactivates the automatic detection and goes over to locking his defenses constantly now to prevent any kind of damage to befall him.

But Luck just ignores his boasting and prepares 5 arrays on top of each other by his feet, ordering once more to "get faster!". Similary to jumping onto a trampoline Luck rockets towards Svenkin jumping off his arrays with an incredible Speed holding his fist forward as he flies in order to pierce through Svenkin with his True Lightning Magic: Ceranos! leaving the latter with a hole in his chest. As Luck lands and Svenkin collapses the Black Bull thanks the Spade Elite for a fun fight.

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter an 8 out of 10.

Nice and interesting fight that Luck had here, these Spade Elites are a force to be reckoned with for sure. So would the Spirit Guardians be as well i'm sure but seeing how hard a time Luck had here and his Opponents Magic they probably drew the short straw in terms of Magic MatchUps here, wouldn't be surprised if Spade had done research on each Guardian and just sent the Mages that would have an advantage based on Magic Type there along with Vanica. In the end the Devil Power strengthens the Original Magic drastically not change it entirely, similar to the Elves really but even stronger. The fights will be less about brute force vs brute force but will have to include strategy for a change it seems. Perhaps we'll get to see Magna fight someone here now too after his brief appearance in the Chapter. Though i think Luck and Magna's overall relevance to the arc will be rather insignificant, the Author is keeping them fresh in our minds though which i appreciate. Till next time everybody!!!

Black Clover Chapter 249 Review by Hermit

Fairly decent chapter this week. Leopold got some shine, which was obviously the best part of the chapter.

Another of the Spirit Guardians is introduced this chapter, Floga. Though he has obviously been taken down already by the Dark Triad. Leopold is at the same area, now engaging the assailant.

He's looking at a large eye (Reminiscent to Gaara's technique in Naruto). Suddenly, Leo is hit by an attack to his side. He can't trace the source of the attack. In the woods, we finally see the enemy. His name is Sivor, and he describes his eye magic as being able to pinpoint an enemy's location plus also read how much mana they have. This then allows him to fire condensed balls of magic, which work like bullets.

A small flashback ensues. Floga is training Leo, explaining to him that there always seems to be something he is holding back in his magic. The Crimson Lion member then explains that he looks up to Mereleona and Fuegoloen, but he feels as if he will never surpass them sometimes. He's instructed to look at his own strengths, and to stop thinking that he should compare himself to his siblings.

Back to the present, Leo sharpens his senses and fires an attack towards the direction ahead of him. The attack misses, obviously being a half hearted one. Sivor boasts that he has never been injured in battle, so he can simply maintain the distance between him and Leo and persist with the ranged attacks.

Just then, a large magic circle appears arround Sivor and part of the forest. Leo explains that he had been setting this up little by little while Sivor's eyes were focused on him the whole battle. He then activates his spell, True Flame Magic: Crimson Eruption.

The flames engulf Sivor, who cries out in pain. The cries of pain then alert Leo to his location, and he heads there to finish off the battle.

Personal thoughts:
-While it was rather nice to see Leopold get a fight, I don't really like that they have to introduce these fodder Dark Triad members just to give the other side characters a chance to shine. It does nothing to further the plot. Just ends up being a hype tool to display new techniques. Which is fine, but when these events occur in isolation it's rather....meh. The Golden Dawn chapters where Zenon raided their base and Yuno had to fight minor members were done better than the current ones. Here's hoping that the next chapter will at least move the plot forward.

Black Clover Chapter 250 Review by Hermit

Halfway to another landmark chapter (300), which is a good sign. The chapter itself is....not so interesting, however.

Charmy is soaring through the air, vowing that she will never forgive anyone who threatens the kingdom's nature, and subsequently, its food reserves. Ahead of her lies the villain of the week. Her name is Halbet, and just like Flare Corona, she uses hair magic.

Halbet has just taken down another of the Spirit Guardians, Polrof. Turning to look at Charmy who has just arrived, she remarks that Charmy is fat and therefore unsightly. A small flashback ensues with Charmy and Polrof. To this effect, she swears she will never forgive Hamlet.

The Black Bulls member uses a Summoning Jutsu to bring forth the large sheep from Mount Myoboku. Unfortunately, her Cotton Magic can;t touch Halbet's hair magic. A principle that also works in reverse, since Halbet's hair just slips right through Charmy's large summoning. The hair lady states that her own magic can defend her, but Charmy's own magic cannot. Which causes her to launch an attack at Charmy that impales her with several strands of hair.

After continually stating how unsightly Charmy is and praising her own self as well, Halbet wraps Charmy in her hair and intends on crushing her to death. Charmy makes herself thin, and the giant sheep she summoned transforms into a wolf. She then proceeds to use the same spell she used against elf Rill, and all of Hablet;s hair ends up being disintegrated. Once the Dark disciple loses her main means of magic, Charmy attacks her with an array of punches, which finishes her off.

Pros:
-Seeing Charmy's secondary magic in action once again. About the only positive from this chapter, makes me excited to see her backstory.

Cons:
-About just everything else. Like I stated with the previous review, there is absolutely no point in introducing fodder members just to hype up the main characters. These fights would be so much more interesting if the Spirit Guardians actually combined with their students to take down the Dark disciples. Not to mention magic aspects such as arrays and runes would definitely get more exposition that way. As they stand now it is just a flashy looking gimmick that happens to look good, which is rather weak. Genuinely hope this formulaic writing ends soon, it's doing nothing to further the plot.

Black Clover - Chapter 251 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: The Curse Devil

This week's Chapter of Black Clover starts with a really beautifully drawn Color page of Charmy and a Wolf with Asta sawing Trees in the background,it is supposed to be a reference to the famous fairy tale "Red Riding Hood" of the Brothers Grimm. I really liked it, very fitting!.
The Chapter starts with Gaja staring down one of the Dark Disciples that he seems to have defeated rather quickly just before the scene switched to him, there are Lightning Clouds roaring above them and some of the Citizens celebrate his victory already. With a fellow Spirit Guardian admitting inferiorty to Gaja as he is in a class of his own even among the other Spirit Guardians. It doesn't look like Gaja broke much of a sweat defeating his opponent as he is already about to return to Loropechika's side in order to protect her, speak of the devil, back at Loropechika's location the Princess of Heart Kingdom has good news to share with Noelle and Mimosa. Each of the Dark Disciples that invaded her Kingdom has been defeated by Charmy,Leopold,Luck and Gaja just now with only Charmy and the latter remaining in proper fighting condition. While Noelle and Mimosa praise their comrades for hanging in there Loropechika is speechless at these developments as each of the Clover Knights managed to defeat an opponent stronger than they themself were, she concludes that Clover Knights evolve and grow the most during actual combat. However, the celebrations are cut short as another Dark Disciple attempts to attack her and the girls right away but unfortunately for him the Princess already expected his arrival and hence prepared an instant counterattack against him with Mimosa's help. She casts Plant Creation Magic: Magic Cannon Flower! and with Loropechika/Undine lending her Mana her attack becomes powerful enough to knock the Dark Disciple out with a single shot. Very impressive display from the Ladies there, hats off.

While Loropechika is busy praising Mimosa for her impressive attack we can see someone else approaching from the Dark and it is no one other than the infamous Vanica of the Dark Triad,Host to Megicula, the Devil that cursed Loropechika and Noelle's Mother Acier Silva which caused her to die after Noelle's birth. She makes a, as i would describe it, cheerfully arrogant first proper appearance in the Throne Room as she greets Loropechika as if she was greeting an old friend of hers. Even calling her "Sweetie". She tells the Princess that it's a shame they didn't get to have a proper fight last time she "visited" due to Megicula just wishing for her to be cursed at the time but she will make sure to have the utmost "fun" today as there is nothing stopping them this time and she is her only target. As Noelle tries to maintain her composure in the face of her Mother's Enemy Loropechika begins to question Vanica,if the Princess is who she wants to fight then why would she hurt and kill the Citizens of Heart Kingdom first? The answer is simple, and she tells us with a rather sadistic look on her face, it's that she wanted the Princess to be really into this fight. Something that visibly angers Noelle, she tells Vanica that there aren't any Disciples left to fight for her so she better get ready to take on everyone on her own now,but Vanica shrugs it off since nobody has been "defeated" yet from her point of view. Just in that moment, the previously beaten Disciple gets back up and thanks his superior for making him "good" again, but Vanica returns his thank you with a powerful kick to the shoulder which instantly knocks him out again.

Vanica orders the Disciple to take down Noelle and Mimosa while she fights Loropechika and adds that as long as she herself is conscious her soldiers will not fall to anyone, even if they happen to be killed. Megicula's Curse Power is that powerful apparently. Her claims are confirmed by Loropechika as she senses and sees all of the previously defeated Dark Disciples getting back up to fight again, but thankfully, all of the Magic Knights as well as Gaja are ready to take them on one more time shouting nothing but: "Bring it on!!!". Vanica repeats that unless she falls nothing will stop but she also asks Loropechika if she is taking this serious now,Noelle equips her Valkyrie Armor while Mimosa and the Princess of Heart Kingdom ready themselves to battle. Vanica is absolutely going down here!

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 7.5 out of 10.

Oh boy, now i do hope that Vanica will lose here against Noelle,Mimosa and Loropechika/Undine. It's rare that i come to dislike a character that early after their proper introduction into an arc to be honest, which i guess is a good thing for her as a villain, but still. I did think that it was unlikely/early for a member of the triad to be defeated/killed here but given that the Dark Disciples won't stay down unless she is defeated and many of the Clover Knights are at their limit already after the first round it feels like she has to lose here now. If she falls to the Ladies Trio here then Loropechika is free from her curse and Noelle has essentially avenged her Mother by defeating the Devil who cursed her, even though i thought that Nozel and the other siblings would be with her when the time to fight Megicula would come but i'd take this current scenario too honestly. The odds seem to be somewhat in their favour even, although who knows what that Disciple she brought with her is capable of now. We'll see,i'll be looking forward to it is all i know for now. Till next time everybody!!!

Decided to do the last two week's reviews as a whole because of the fight's conclusion (Or a pseudo conclusion, depending on what happens next). Therefore:

Black Clover Chapter 252 and 253 Review by Hermit

Noelle takes the first initiative of the fight, using her iconic Sea Dragon's Roar to attack Vanica. As expected, the attack does nothing to faze Vanica. She launches a spell of her own; Red Beast (Using her own Blood Magic). Mimosa is in a clash with the minion who Vanica brought to the room. His magic is.....disturbing. Regardless, the Golden Dawn girl had planted some of her magic on his tongue, so she instructs Noelle and Loropechika to leave that fight to her.

Vanica passes by, slashing her minion with her magic, but he immediately regenerates. A small flashback ensues, where Loropechika had explained that the members of the Dark Triad all use two types of magic. Their own primary magic + that of the devil possessing them. Vanica briefly mentions World Tree Magic and Darkness Magic in relation to the objectives of her comrades. When Noelle asks what Dark Magic was referring to, Vanica refuses to answer the question.

Loropechika accesses a large library in her mind, which is a priviledge all the Heart Kingdom Princesses are allowed. She glimpses some grim pictures, realizing that is the end game of the Dark Triad. Vanica elaborates that she is only interested in the strong people who will survive in such a grizzly world. Just then, Loropechika unleashes a large spell. Using Mana Zone, Mana Method and her basic water magic, she summons a large water pillar that traps Vanica right in the middle of it. The Heart Princess explains that this magic halves the power of Vanica's Blood Magic, plus additionally boosting Noelle's magic.

Noelle turns into a mermaid, and charges at Vanica with her lance.

--
Vanica is happy at the attack from Noelle, stating that it would make the fight more fun. Just then, the Dark Triad member unleashes her devil's power. To be more specific, 50% of it. She charges the attack at Noelle, who skillfully evades the spell. Vanica then uses 51% of her power, which increases the effect of her spell (?) This part isn't very clear. Noelle asks if that is how Acier was killed, but Vanica has no recollection of that person.

On the other side of the battlefield, Mimosa is also engaged in a battle of her own. Another flashback ensues, where Loropechika tearfully admits that she is scared. She reveals to have fought Vanica before (One on one), that was the fight she was cursed in. Loro is scared of dying, thinking that revealing such a selfish wish makes her unworthy to rule.

The Dark Triad female synchronizes with her Devil, using 70% of her power. She reveals this to be her maximum power. Noelle reveals that she was waiting for that moment. Turns out that this was indeed a plan by the three girls. Have Vanica expend the most of her power, then finally use Nero to seal up her Devil power.

Chapter 253 ends with a sudden appearance from Nero, who uses a Sealing Jutsu on Vanica's demonic power.

Pros:
- More world building on Heart Kingdom. More specifically, their magic system. We learned about the past princesses knowledge library (A bit like the Halloween Devil in Chainsaw Man, ha), also got to see Mana Method. Heart Kingdom also has Mana Zone, much like the Clover Kingdom.
- Loropechika got a bit more characterization in that small flashback where she admits to being afraid. Honestly, up till now she seemed like a plot device. Someone to offer the Clover Kingdom more power ups through the training, and also a way of revealing the Water Slyph. That mini flashback was a very good idea by the author.
- Noelle's new power up, the mermaid form. Which has also brought about a bit of controversy in the chapter discussion, haha;P
- Nero showing up was very much needed. Finally, she returns to the story.

Cons:
- Mimosa's fight is a bit pathetic. Even her opponent's magic is just.....ugh. Too much cringe.
- Vanica is not really living up to her initial hype. Like the Blood Magic was....fine. Had some decent showings, even with the blood monster she summoned. But ever since she began synchronizing with her Devil, literally nothing has happened. Noelle is commenting on her power increasing, but where are the effects? Very underwhelming.

Chapter 252 Rating:7.5/10
Chapter 253 Rating:6.5/10

Black Clover - Chapter 254 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Power Differential

Nero seemingly succeeded with sealing Vanica and Megicula through her Mana Method Sealing Magic: Eternal Prison!, Lolopechka concludes that with Vanica and Megicula's powers being completely sealed there should be no way for their Curse on her to still be in effect. She uncovers her belly to make sure but to everyone's shock the Mark is still on it,meaning the curse remains intact, suddenly a frightening laugther is heard from behind Nero. And the laugh isn't Vanicas, it is Megiculas. The Mighty Demon and Sworn Enemy of Noelle has decided to come to the surface. Speaking through Vanica, the demon mocks the humans for their inferiority to them in every aspect possible but also expresses great joy at the surprises they can manage to pull off from time to time as well. Such as Nero's Sealing Magic. She effortlessly breaks free from Nero's Spell and proceeds to bind her with corrupted runes, she continues by creating several more Dark Runes that she shoots out into all directions in order to break Lolopechka's Ludic Sanctuary. And to no one's surprise she easily succeeds. As the remaining Water disappears both Noelle and Nero appear to be defeated, Lolopechka is barely standing as well, Vanica/Megicula approaches them slowly while praising their Strategy meant to defeat her. Megicula admits that Nero almost succeeded in sealing it's power away, all those futile but amusing attempts at defeating the Demon makes it want to toy with all the Humans even more. Lolopechka remains in fear and shock as she cannot believe that the Sealing Magic failed as well, Megicula explains that it would've worked if not for her Curse Warding Magic: Decaying World! which automatically activated as Vanica began using 70% of Megicula's powers. The Spell weakens every Spell Array cast meant to harm or affect her, however, Megicula did not expect it to be strong enough to be able to weaken the Spell of an Arcane Stage Mage too.

Vanica interrupts her Demon's lecture because she doesn't want it to interfere anymore, she wants to have fun. Lolopechka looks on in terror but is soon to be broken completely as Undine calls out to her, while in very bad shape. Megicula also managed to curse Undine, the Water Spirit, something even the Demon is surprised by that it worked so well. Undine has been with Lolopechka since she was a baby, seeing her like this brings the Princess to tears. She wants to call out to the Spirit but cannot due to intense pain errupting within her due to Megicula's curse reacting to the Demon's presence. Vanica and Megicula conclude that with Lolopechka being unable to move due to the pain and her Water Spirit being "useless" now they have essentially won this battle, as Vanica attempts to kill the Princess we see Noelle get back up on her feet. She tries to use her Original Valkyrie Armor but fails to form a complete armor due to lack of Mana and Stamina, without Undine's support she cannot enter her other form either but she remains determined to defeat Vanica. The Lady from the Dark Triad shows little to no interest in Noelle as she isn't "special" without anyone helping her,the gap in power is too big and she is much too slow for a battle like this one. Noelle attempts to attack her anyway but is quickly hit by several Dark Spears, but she continues to push against her. The difference in power means nothing to Noelle, she will continue fighting because the sins and destruction caused by the Dark Triad shall never be forgiven. Megicula notices that Noelle managed to defend against any lethal attacks thanks to her Armor's protection and just as the Demon concludes it's thought Noelle impales Vanica once more with her Water Lance...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 9 out of 10.

Nice Fighting Noelle, 10 out of 10 men would marry her for determination and willpower alone, Asta is a lucky fellow. I'm proud to see her being the last standing force in this fight, she's put up just as much if not more of a struggle than Asta and Yuno here i found. Hopefully her actions and attacks will not have been entirely in vain and she managed to leave some kind of damage on Vanica/Megicula after all. Not much of a surprise to see the Sealing Magic fail but it was a nice spell despite it all, would've loved to see Nero remain active a little longer but i guess it can't be helped given her distance to the enemy at the time. Nice Fight Nero!. I'm looking forward to how this continues and what kind of damage Noelle's attack caused here but i won't hold my breath just yet. Let's see...Till next time everybody!!!

Black Clover Chapter(s) 255-265 Review by Hermit

Chapter 255:
Noelle's fight with Vanica continues, and after seemingly losing (Due to her mermaid armor wearing off), a new spell shows up in Noelle's grimoire. Vanica then asks Noelle's name. It turns out that Vanica had indeed fought Noelle's mother in the past, Acier, so to this effect she takes Loropechika as a hostage. As she flees the Heart Kingdom, she makes sure to cause her underlings to self destruct. Yami's fight with Dante continues, and Dante promises to show him the true power of a Devil Host.

Chapter 256:
Dante activates 80% of his Devil power. He explains that due to the barrier between the devil and human world, it is impossible for devil hosts to access 100% of their power. Though, he is not particularly sure in Asta's case, considering Asta's devil is a complete unknown to him. Yami and Dante then resume their fight. This time, Yami is slowly overpowered as the fight continues. He then uses a new technique, Thrust, which completely dismantles Dante's body.

Chapter 257:
Despite having his body obliterated, Dante regenerates it down to the last organ. He commends Yami on being a worthy opponent, before revealing his magic is Body Magic. It's a magic that basically prevents him from dying, ageing or deteriorating. His body then suddenly becomes larger, and Yami tries obliterating it once more, but it does not work out. The Black Bulls captain then boldly declares that he can't win the fight without Asta. Asta gets up, and stands side by side his captain preparing to join him in battle.

Chapter 258:
Teaming up, the two Black Bulls members fight in rhythm vs Dante. They hack, cut and slash away at his organs, efforts which all prove futile. Realizing that he's holding his captain back, Asta pleads to his inner Devil to give him power. The devil agrees, but says it will take a part of his body in exchange. Asta's arm gets cloaked by the devil's magic, and he undertakes a partial transformation as he charges at Dante once more.

Chapter 259:
Asta's devil tells him he has 50 seconds, to which he replies that's long enough. After a bit of clashing with Dante, he summons his Demon Dweller and Demon Destroyer swords, which he uses to parry and attack Dante simulataneously. Yami then hands his katana to Asta. Filling it with anti magic, Asta then lands a final, devastating blow on Dante. The blow proceeds to take him out and at long last, the Black Bulls win the fight.

Chapter 260:
Asta collapses after a long fight, but his captain grabs him before he drops to the ground completely. Gauche also recovers fully, and Gray hugs him out of relief. As Yami is holding onto Dante's grimoire, suddenly, Zenon appears out of thin air. Yami is impaled with several bones (Similar to William). Zenon then charges an attack at Asta, that Finral blocks with spatial magic. Desperately, the rest of the Black Bulls members try to retrieve their captain, but Zenon is far above their level. They then proceed to watch helplessly as he is dragged into the abyss.

Chapter 261:
Stunning color cover, with Yami and Asta featured on it. Asta is being healed by Owen, who admits that he cannot do anything about Asta's demonized arm. Owen proceeds to have a look at Gauche, admitting that Gauche is not in any danger. However, Gray's magic might not be transformation magic, but something else entirely. Night falls, and Asta wakes up in the middle of the night. Yami's katana is in his grimoire, which causes him to be devastated as reality sets in. Just as he gets out of bed, he is questioned as to where he is heading. Asta is also frozen in place by the assailant's magic, who reveals themselves to be someone who knows Yami. The stranger then grows a horn, shocking Asta. They then reveal themselves to be Nacht, the Black Bulls Vice Captain.

Chapter 262:
Nacht has a pet devil on his shoulder called Gimodelo. Asta is surprised at how easily he is conversing with it. Nacht then tells Asta he will train him to master the Devil's power. The next day sets in, and the Captains are holding a meeting. Yuno is also present, as the Golden Dawn's representative. Jack then taunts Yuno for being so weak and losing to the enemy, but Fuegoloen tells him to stop. An argument then breaks out, and Nacht crashes the meeting admitting he does not like disorderly people.

Chapter 263:
The captains are in an uproar at the sudden intrusion, but Nacht summons several other devils to subdue them. Julius then reveals that Nacht is a Vice Captain of Black Bulls, who was in Spade Kingdom this whole time as a spy. Jack also recognizes Nacht, but he remembers him having a different magic before. The Vice Captain tells everyone to get seated, before explaining the motives of the Dark Triad. Seven levels will open over seven days, and the final level has the strongest devil, Lucifero. Nacht then reveals that he intends on making Asta the trump card of the Clover Kingdom. The kingdom will build an elite force around Asta, then invade the Spade Kingdom before the seven days are over.

Chapter 264:
Continuing his explanation from before, Nacht explains that each of the Dark Triad members has two magic each. Dante has Gravity and Body Magic, Vaniva has Blood and Curse Magic, while Zenon has Bone and Spatial Magic. Yuno asks Nacht to include him in the team, explaining that he has a responsibility as a member of the Golden Dawn. He also reveals that he is a prince of Spade Kingdom, surprising everyone in the room. The Black Bulls Vice Captain then agrees to Yuno's request, stating that they depart 2 days from now. Perspective shifts to the Heart Kingdom, where Noelle regains consciousness. Standing over her are the elves Patri, Fana, Vetto and Rhya.

Chapter 265:
Noelle recognizes the elves as former adversaries, and it is revealed the rest of her teammates are all recovering behind her. Patry then explains they are in Elysia, a high magic region. There are two kids with Patry, who are revealed to descendants of Tetia and Licht's kids. Secre then remembers saving the unborn foetus's back then, which means the bloodline lived on. Noelle asks for training to make her and her team stronger, which will help them saving Loropechika. Patry then reveals there is a way, referring to it as Ultimate Magic.

Final thoughts:
These ten chapters have been action packed and fast paced, in true Black Clover fashion. I like the fact that the Clover Kingdom has lost some of their best two assets (William and Yami). I don't particularly like the fact that Nacht is a devil host though. It feels too tacky and sudden, but a good backstory would pretty much even this out. Love seeing a different side of Yuno, aside from his usual stoic self. Also, good to see the elves making a return to the story. Should be another training arc soon, which will be fun seeing.

Overall, a rather enjoyable set of chapters ^.^

Black Clover Chapter 266 Review by Belserion

Chapter Title: Dark Garden Invitation

This week’s chapter begins with Julius, backed by Rill and Charlotte, explaining the Spade Kingdom Invasion plan to Gaja, who I’m quite relieved to see is still alive. Gaja assures Julius that the Heart Kingdom will join them in the fight, swearing to retake their queen, who’s been taken by Vanica of the Dark Triad. This vow is echoed by Charlotte who silently asks Yami to hold on.

Elsewhere, Nacht has introduced himself to the rest of the Black Bulls and explains the Spade Invasion Plan to them as well. The Black Bulls are a bit shocked considering this is the first time Nacht has seen fit to show himself at their base. When they ask why now of all times he’s chosen to show up, he tactlessly explains that he hates the Black Bulls but the position of Vice Captain allows him more freedom to operate as a Magic Knight. But he doesn’t stop there, he continues by telling them he hates people who don’t do things properly, which puts the Black Bulls at the top of the list because they’re a brigade of good for nothings who do more damage than good. He acknowledges their part in the war with the Elves, but says it doesn’t make up for all their other failures. You’d think he was done, but no. He goes on to list their individual faults, calling Vanessa a brazen witch who does nothing but drink, Finral, a womanizer who lets it interfere with his missions, Gauche, a disgraced noble and convict, Magna, an evil looking openly delinquent peasant, Zora, an evil looking, belligerent masked peasant, etc. Totally a group good for nothings Yami would put together. Before he can continue, Grey, bless her heart, tries to defend her friends by asking Nacht not to judge them by their looks. Nacht smiles and tells her if they don’t want to be judged by their looks then they shouldn’t look like that. He has a point. Nacht has zero tolerance for change. He tells them that when nasty looking people or those that are evil suddenly do something good, the twist tends to make others find them more likable and he hates that. He prefers people that are good from the start. Before he leaves, he tells them if they want to save Yami’s worthless hide then they should get stronger in two days.

Nacht is now with Asta who questions him about his magic. He explains he uses Shadow Magic, which allows him and whatever he’s touching to move from one shadow to another. Asta likens it to Spatial magic and asks after the other Black Bulls, but Nacht dismisses his questions because they arrive at their destination. The two enter a crumbling mansion which Nacht tells Asta belonged to a former noble. They enter what looks like the library, and Nacht uses the open space to cast Shadow Magic: Dark Garden Invitation. Darkness surrounds them and the shadows pull Asta underground. The place they end up in looks like a temple of some sort. For those of you who watched Game of Thrones, it resembles the Hall of Faces. Nacht promises to teach Asta everything he knows about Devil Magic, and as a result he would grow exponentially. Asta is excited to train while Nacht explains he’s not been making full use of the Devils power. In fact, Asta has only been using the power that trickles down from the devil, meaning he’s basically been using little drips of what the Devil has to offer.

Nacht takes off his cloak, and we know it’s about to get serious. He tells Asta they’re going to perform a Devil Binding Ritual, which is basically Asta making a formal contract with the Devil. It’s a forbidden ceremony with the end result being Asta having a Devil’s power at his command, being able to call on it when he needs to, similar to Nacht and the Dark Triad most likely. Usually a relic with a connection to the Devil being called is needed, but Asta’s arm and Grimoire makes him unique. He already has a connection to the Devil. Asta asks Nacht what he has to do, but Nacht just smiles as an ominous presence makes itself known by targeting Asta’s devil arm and his grimoire. It turns out to be Asta’s Devil, who is now free and amused that Asta voluntarily released him. Nacht finally answers Asta’s question by telling him he has to fight his Devil….and win.

Chapter Rating: 8/10.

I really like Nacht. He's not the nicest fellow, and his roasting of his fellow Black Bulls members wasn't well done of him, but at least he's honest. I'm surprised he told them the plan. During the Captain's meeting it seemed as if only the strongest would be allowed to go to Spade, meaning most, if not all of the captains. Fuegoleon didn't even want Yuno along because Magic Knights are needed to guard the Kingdom, but now we've got the Black Bulls, whose members are arguably weaker than Yuno, being allowed a chance to go. Anyway it will be interesting to see if they do get stronger in two days.

The mansion Asta and Nacht are currently training in seems to belong to Nacht's family. There was a photograph of the family that used to live there, the parents and two children. The child we saw looked like a younger version of Nacht, and given that he has access to the house and seems to operate from there hints at sentimental attachment of some sort. It should be noted that the other child's face in the photo was hidden. I think this will be significant in the future and Nacht might be around for a while.

Asta fighting his Devil will make for an entertaining read, especially now that he only has one arm. There's no way he should be able to win this so there might be a loophole somewhere. What I liked about Asta's reactions to what Nacht told him was that he didn't get preachy and have a moral dilemma. He needs power, the devil has it, so he'll contract with the devil and that's all there is to it. It's actually crazy that with everything we've seen Asta do with his Devil power/form, he hasn't even accessed a fraction of it. I'm almost afraid for the power scale when Asta is done training with Nacht and has access to the Devil's actual power.

Black Clover - Chapter 267 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: The Devil-Binding Ritual

Asta's Devil has now fully manifested outside of his body and grimoire, surprisingly enough he and Asta share some resemblance in their appearances such as their Grey-ish/White Hair Color and the rather small height. Ironic, considering that Asta's Devil once called him a "Shrimp" and yet he himself isn't that tall either, but i guess it could also be referring to their difference in age and experience since Asta is still a Teen and this Devil most likely hundreds of years old but we'll see about that. As the Anti Magic Devil marvels at the feeling of entering the Physical World again after a long time Asta begins to thank him for all the times were he lent him his powers to fight, most recently against Dante of the Dark Triad, but the Devil remains unfazed by it. He smirks at Asta and asks if he really wants to thank someone who took away his right arm but Asta counters that he's fine with that since he made the deal in the first place, the Devil smirks yet again telling Asta that he has no choice but to kill a "total idiot" like him. Asta won't let him do that because he needs to fight for and protect his friends but the Devil ridicules him, Asta seems to have forgotten about the situation he's in, the Devil summons the Demon Slayer Sword to attack Asta with a fully Anti Magic enveloped Blade. Unlike Asta the Devil isn't actually swinging the Blade around but is controlling it with Telekinesis, he doesn't waste much time and attacks Asta right away who at first manages to dodge but is quickly hit by a follow up Attack from the Devil which sends him flying for a small distance. The Devil calls out to Asta that he cannot win this battle, this is "his turf" and he won't just be taking an arm from him for this, but his everything.

As Asta makes his landing he replies that he doesn't wanna fight the Devil but talk to him instead but Nacht intervenes that he has to fight the Devil in order to get stronger, if he loses here then the Devil will take his body which will then transform into a grotesque being that Nacht himself will have to dispose of immediatly. All the Bones down there in the Altar belong to people that have tried to make a Devils power theirs but failed, which prompts Asta to realize that this Ritual is actually Forbidden Magic, something he instantly confronts Nacht with but the Vice Captain replies that there is no way for "decent methods" to make someone exponentially stronger within a mere 2 Days. There would be more or different options if Asta had been born with Magic and Power of his own. However, there is no time to lose, the Devil is already attacking him again but Asta manages to dodge it properly this time. Nacht tells him to fight back before the Devil can kill him but Asta responds that this Devil isn't trying to kill him, he can tell by sensing and reading his Ki, but Nacht continues to mock him since there is no Devil with principles or noble ideals. The Devil laughs hysterically and agrees with Nacht because every Devil out there is "a total scumbag", Asta thinks to himself that the Anti Magic Devil is not like Zagred the Word Devil...he is different. As the Devil once again declares to take over Asta's body the man himself cuts in and tells him that just because someone is a Devil that doesn't make them a bad guy, the Devil stops his boasting and grinds his teeth all of a sudden as Asta says this, he suddenly remembers a certain girl that looks similar to Asta in height, face and hair that once told him: "You aren't a bad guy!".

The only thing the Devil says as he begins to remember is: "Dammit...!!!".

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter an 8 out of 10.

Uff okay so,before i say anything else, Spoiler Alert!: That girl at the end is Asta's Mother. Yeah i know, crazy reveal right there, but there is some more or less reliable evidence pointing into that direction thanks to the fight with Dante where Asta remembered someone with similar clothes just that this was most likely her final moments rather than a lively and happy moment where she was fooling around playing with some Devil.
Anyway, now that this Cat's out of the bag, here's some thoughts of mine. I'm not too sure how to feel about Asta's mother having some kind of connection with the Devil housing in his grimoire all this time to be honest, then there is that mild resemblance in hair style and height. I doubt that he is also Asta's father but i'm not entirely sure about that yet, i mean the both of them never had any kind of incredibly touching moment or anything that would suggest that the Devil has taken a liking to Asta in particular. One could argue that he wouldn't have lent Asta his power otherwise all the time but how else would he have ensured his survival considering that he lives in the grimoire and Asta's soul/body. He's gotta cooperate, similar to the Inner Hollow of Ichigo or Kurama inside Naruto. If he really is Asta's dad then this would make the guy a hybrid of Human and Devil, which i guess is possible since we have Charmy as a Dwarf/Human hybrid but again i'm not sure if i'd like it too much. Then there is Asta's remark about his Ki not indicating that he wants to kill him, which wouldn't make sense unless he has some sort of deeper connection to the boy.

Nacht was a cool sock as usual, this guy is the perfect mix of really grounded Badass and straight Douchebag, and i honestly love that. He was cold and direct this time around but i didn't like Asta returning to some old patterns here by acting so pure and naive, sure he has always had that tendency but the last few chapters he seemed more serious and resolved about the path/s he's taking but here he seemed unsure of it all. I mean, instead of pushing his body and fighting to his breaking point to get stronger he rather wanted to have a heart to heart with the Devil. That's usually for when one beats the other guy and then tries to get him over to his side with a Talk no Jutsu, but before that you fight it out properly. I'm guessing we'll get a Flashback on the Devil and Asta's Mom next time, after that it's probably over to Noelle and Co. training their behind's off to fight against Spade Kingdom as well. I only know that i'm looking forward to it as usual! Till next time everybody!!!

Black Clover - Chapter 268 Review by Seraph

Chapter Title: Devil

While Asta recovers from the Devil's last attack the entity from the Underworld begins to remember his past alongside Asta's words of Devil's not having to be evil just because of their race. Devils are born in the Underworld, since said World is very boring the Higher Ranking and Strongest Devils pick on the weaker and smaller ones to create some kind of entertainment for themselves, the biggest thrill a devil in the Underworld can imagine is to toy with Humans for once. In the middle of all this our Anti Magic Devil has been born into as well, however at the time, without any kind of Magic. Naturally he was being bullied and picked on,no day went by without anyone torturing him for his lack of power. One day a high ranking devil threw the Anti Magic Devil against the Gate of the Underworld which is sealed shut so they cannot leave, for some reason the Anti Magic Devil passed right through. He himself believes his lack of Magic to be the explanation for that, otherwise he had been shattered by the Gate. Instead he ended up in the Human World, where he once more got bullied for being a Devil, battered and beaten he ended up collapsing in a nearby forest where he would be found by a Human Woman named Licita. She took care of his wounds and cared for him while he was passed out, as he woke up she introduced herself and explained her Magic to the Devil. While her body, similar to Henry, takes away the Mana from those around her she can distribute it into any non-Mana possessing matter that exists. Meaning the Devil has nothing to fear as he himself has no Mana she can take away. The Devil asks Licita wether she is afraid of him but she brushes it off by asking him if he would be scared of an injured kid.

Licita explains that due to her unique ability she has to live far away from the Village, however luckily for her she ran into the Devil, which is even more surprising for her because just the other day she found a 5 Leaf Clover Grimoire(Yes, it is Asta's Grimoire-) which leads her to believe that the superstition about the 5 Leaf Clover Grimoire is true somehow. Licita believes their meeting to be fate, she wants to adopt the Devil as her child, he only reacts with "Huh?!" but eventually he allowed her to take care of him. They would play, eat, fish, bathe, sleep and laugh together all the time. Licita changed his world for the better, she gave him a purpose and things to look forward to. A real mom through and through(Honestly, reading and seeing this passage broke my heart and almost had me in tears...). One day, Licita told the Devil whom she named "Liebe" that just because he's a devil he doesn't necessarily have to be a bad guy, like she changed his world he changed hers for the better as well because being alone hurt her a lot. This however is where the beautiful story takes a turn for the dark, as Liebe wants to thank Licita as well he is possessed by Lucifero who spent a long time searching for a Devil in the Human World to manifest himself as well through said Devil's body. As Licita realizes that Liebe is about to be taken over she grabs the evil mana rising from Liebe's body to absorb and make it go away, she remembers having let go of her own child before(most likely due to her Mana absorbing Body-) but she will not let go of Liebe. As Lucifero realizes that Licita is absorbing his Mana he takes desperate measures and impales her with Liebe's claw, however, she refuses to give up Liebe. With one final push she absorbs the last of Lucifero's lingering mana forcing him to retreat for the time being.

As Licita loses strength and consciousness she uses all of her remaining Mana to seal Liebe into the 5 Leaf Clover Grimoire, in order to protect him from Lucifero's reaching claw as well as protecting Human World from the High Ranking Devils. When Liebe will emerge from the Grimoire he will be all grown up and strong for sure she hopes. As Liebe cries over parting with Licita his flashback in the present time ends, as he looks at Asta he lets out a scream of rage and hatred...He will kill all Devils in the world because they are all scum and he won't fail. He will steal Asta's body for this goal if he has to...

Personal Thought's

I rate this Chapter a 9 out of 10.

"Liebe" is the german word for "Love". Interesting that this would be the name of the Anti Magic Devil, i guess his hatred for Lucifero was the reason he cooperated so willingly with Asta against Dante. I do wonder if Liebe knows that Asta is Licitas actual Son though. It would mean that Liebe is Asta's adopted Brother. Very very interesting...In the next Chapters we should be focusing on Liebe vs Asta again, either that or we're going to follow Noelle and the Black Bulls Training from here and will return back to the Ritual when a day has passed in the story or so. I have trouble making up my mind as to what i'd rather see first to be honest. Black Clover is really at another high point lately it's crazy. Till next time everybody!!!

Black Clover Chapter 269: The One Who Can't Use Magic Review by Ramen

Summary and Overview

The fight between Asta and his devil Liebe rage on and Liebe himself goes on a rampage after having a flashback regarding his childhood and Asta's mom (?). Even Asta himself describes his ki to be filled with so much anger, hatred, and sadness. He forces himself to fight and convinces himself that despite only having one arm, he will win. Asta is able to keep up with Liebe and get in a few punches which surprises Liebe.

Nacht points out that Liebe and his anti-magic is designed to fight and cancel out magic but because Asta by default doesn't have any, he's not put a huge advantage. Though Liebe is still very confident he will win this.

As the swords come out of Liebe's grimoire, Asta notices Yami's katana which he grabs and starts to use as a weapon. Liebe does not let down and continues his ferocious assault on Asta fueled by his history. He talks about how he manifested his magicless body and gained anti-magic as a result but was stuck in the grimoire. When Asta attained it, he did not care if he had to take over his body to get his revenge.

Asta can read ki and overtime being a magicless magic knight, his physicals exponentially grew, he watched many skilled swordsman and fought and trained with the best. All this accumulation has paid off in his fight with his devil.

It seems like the fight ends entirely with Asta yelling "I will win" and using the katana to strike Liebe.

Thoughts

I liked this chapter for what it was. A continuation of the fight and it was overall decent. Nothing too crazy but nothing too boring. I enjoyed seeing Asta be praised by Nacht and his determination to win. I also liked the progression of Asta's training as mentioned and it showed against someone formidable. He really deserved knowing where he came from.

It genuinely seems like Nacht is impressed by Asta and how he continues to fight and break down despite who his opponent is and the fact that he's only using one arm. It seems like genuine respect for her fellow Black Bull.

I am interested in seeing how Liebe bounces back from this fight. I don't see it taking up another chapter and most likely some deal will be made or some friendship will arise but nonetheless, I am excited for what happens next.

Thanks for reading peeps!
