I think, Blackbeard was born with a special ability that’s yet to be revealed and most likely, it was used against his fight with Shanks.

Plus, it’s interesting were Blackbeard struck Shanks and makes me wonder if, King’s Haki failed during this battle?. Just curious about this…🤔

I would not be sure, Blackbeard is a strong fighter as shown when nearly broke Ace's neck with a single hit

Auger mentioned about Ace being strong too even when a lot of DF users focus on their powers more than their physical abilities.

And don't forget that even as a kid Ace was always able to beat Luffy who had a DF at the time.

If Blackbeard can get a third fruit he wouldn’t waste it on the Mera mera. He is very opportunistic so it’s gonna be a rare fruit most likely Zoan or another Paramecia. Logia is pointless for him at this time.

I'll try to summarize what I think's going to happen, to see if anyone catches my drift, or sparks any interest:

He's not human, and he's going after Chopper's fruit, like it was hinted already.
He not only represents darkness, but rather the eclipse.

--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

After revisiting Blackbeard and his references, and believing he's going to make an appearance by the end of act 3 in Wano, I'm gonna summarize what I think I've found about him:

Blackbeard really is Uranus, or rather, he's the descendant of the previous king of the Ancient Kingdom, who was Uranus.
I'm not sure if he was originally a good guy, but I believe so, and he somehow got corrupted, which goes in line with what @McNuss mentioned about parasites. There was a fight between between Nika/Joyboy, who was a prince of that kingdom, and they "nullified" each other, leaving that Kingdom in shambles. That left behind one deity of that trifecta, who currently rules the world (Imu)

Both of their wills got passed on to princes/children of that kingdom, and that's already been depicted by Doflamingo/Rosinante: former royalty who inherited completelly different wills: one inherited the will of evil/destruction, and the other one was fundamentally a good person, who died laughing while protecting the future.

So, something that's still bothering me, and doesn't require anyone to believe my tinfoily stuff, and I hope someone has interesting thoughts on this is: Blackbeard is supposed to be the opposite of Luffy, and that includes his crew, so how come Jesus Burgess is his first-mate? Shiryu is supposed to be the strongest captain, and be mirrored by Zoro. Is this coincidental? Who's going to take on Burgess? He already has some story with Sabo. Where's Oda going with this? Also, who's the Fishman opposite of Jinbei? I think Arlong might make a comeback.

@Zmsp I like your theory about Blackbeard is pursuing Chopper's devil fruit. Perhaps he will eventually get that and Chopper himself will become a Zoan devil fruit.

Thank you.

Actually, I think there's a lot more to Chopper and Blackbeard than previously mentioned, so I'll summarize a couple more stuff to elaborate on why I think Chopper is intertwined with Blackbeard:

  • Chopper was a misfit who was born with a body different than his peers, and got ostracized for it. His parental figures were a witch with an abnormal lifespan and a dreamer who met an untimely death. I won't elaborate on them, because people will think this is too tinfoily, but those two figures are kinda suggestive. What we do know for a fact is that Blackbeard was born with a body different from others, and that's been mentioned a couple of times.
  • Blackbeard was first mentioned after trashing Drums Kingdom. Why would he? First, him actually destroying a kingdom with that name, considering what we now know, is interesting in itself, but I'd say it's very likely he was looking for something. A Devil fruit, perhaps? A Zoan to complete the trifecta?
  • During Fishman Island, Jinbei tells us that Blackbeard is looking for strong fruits, and Chopper panics. Usopp jokingly dismisses that idea. Oda loves foreshadowing stuff in seemingly comical segments like this one.
  • We have no idea about the model of Choppers fruit, but with the latest events, I think we have solid foundation for doubting its nature. If the fruit was all about a regular human, how the hell would Chopper have so many different transformations? That's very weird. Perhaps the single most relevant thing about it, is that it has a monster point. Why the fuck would a human-human fruit have a monstrous transformation? Being monstrous is kinda like the whole deal with Blackbeard, isn't it? I'd say there's more to that fruit than we know.
  • They shared a common theme: low bounties. Blackbeard was confirmed to be a wanted man with a bounty of 0b, and Chopper had the comical 50b. Seemingly unimportant characters who turned out to be some of the most important ones?
  • During the first half of the manga, I was always surprised by the Foxy Pirates and the Davy back fight mini-arc. It never quite clicked with me, up until recently. It's the first mention of the pirate island Beehive, the place where the game was created, and a place associated with both Xebec and Blackbeard. It's also explained how that game was a way for the strongest pirate crews to be formed. That's pretty much what Rocks crew was, and what Blackbeard did back at Impel Down. I don't think that's the last we've heard of Davy Jones, or maybe that game, but I'll remind people that Chopper was the crew member that got targetted in that game, and ended up temporarily joining another crew. On a side note, right after that game, we get introduced to Aokiji, who has a connection to Robin. Aokiji is now part of Blackbeards crew, and Robin is a very important piece for any pirate crew who wants to wants to reach Laugh Tale. I'm sticking to Chopper and not elaborating on other stuff, but I'm just saying that the Davy Back arc packs more references than one might notice at first glance.

There's a bunch of different characters who I think have more or less told us part of Blackbeards story (like Moria, Doflamingo, Big Mom and others), but I think Chopper is actually the one who's most deeply connected with him. I wouldn't be surprised if Blackbeard shows up in a couple of chapters... In fact, I think it's likely.

Edit: Law even made a cheeky remark when fighting together with Kidd, saying something like: "a bull attack? what's next? a hippo? an elephant?". Blackbeard appearing, getting something, and being fought off by Zuneisha would be my bet for the short-term future.

Another one I saw proposed was that he ate some type of Octopus fruit (Legendary Zoan type, Kraken?) or sth. Octopi have three hearts, and it has been strongly speculated that DF powers are stored in the heart; the "eating the heart of a DF user to steal their ability" theory is quite popular after Big Mom/Caramel situation and Blackbeard stealing Whitebeard's fruit at MF. Octopi also sleep in very short intervals of seconds, and Buggy said Blackbeard has never been seen sleeping.
Bumping this thread because I saw a tweet pertaining to this theory:

Might be a reach but also... I always liked this theory so I'm totally investing my stocks in it right now, lol

I'm not sure though that ko really is a way to say 9. Atleast not a common one. The usual 9 is kyu. Googling tells me that kokonotsu is also 9, but I don't know if it really is shortened as ko in common use.

Still like this theory though.

Yeah when I first saw BB's bounty I tried to figure out what it was in Goroawase (the 96 was obviously kuro but for the 36 the closest I could get was "sankyu" which would make it like "thank you, black" :lmao) But yeah, in the source I usually refer to 9 is only 'ku' or 'kyu', but after seeing this tweet I found several that had 9 as ko... idk, I just want it to be true.
