Dorry and Brogy bounties were updated from 100 million to 1.8 billion because of inflation after 102 years

That means inflation rate was on average 1.0287422896 per year

However, that means that after 24 years Roger's bounty would be worth 10,985,195,664 now

Eh, Roger's bounty was much more recent and likely in line with the modern methods of bounty calculation, so I doubt his inflation would be that crazy. Whitebeard was his peer and died relatively recently, yet his bounty was still less than Roger's. If we assume the inflation percentage is the same for everyone across the board for everyone, his bounty would've been overshot Roger's by now, unless you want to argue that Whitebeard's bounty was significantly lower than Roger's until the last few years of his life.

Truth be told, this is just another Shichibukai situation. Dorry and Broggy, like the Warlords, were introduced too early in the story, so now they are given the appropriate bounties to match their threat. The logistics don't need to be thought about too deeply.

It doesn't really seem like inflation is a thing in OP. Just look at brook's original 30 million bounty...

Oh yeah I completely forgot about that

Why were Brogy and Dorry bounties adjusted but Brook was not?

Not sure of what you mean. Dorry and brogy got bounty increases over their attack on egghead. The world government also exaggerated their role in the affair and made everyone there into a murderer of a gorosei. Brook has had multiple increases to his bounty as well, iirc he clocks at 380 mil currently.

Yep, Brook went from 33 million pre-death to 83 million by Dressrosa, so if that's all inflation, then that's 50 million inflation.

I was reading the official translation and it specifically mentions inflation so I am clearly wrong here. If we assume an average of 2% inflation for the past 50 and 100 years then the giants got an adjustment AND an increase to their bounties. I suppose the WG just didn't care enough about brook. His bounty of 80 mil is basically his 30 mil bounty adjusted for inflation.

So did Brook get 50 million inflation on his bounty or did he not

Yeah, I love Brook but his crew wasn't exactly a major threat to the seas. Dorry and Broggy are the Captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, who were/are noted to have been a particularly dangerous crew, even early on in the series. Not to mention the fact that Giants themselves are supposed to super powerful in universe and thus you have the crazy high bounty increase for them.

Brook got an increase in bounty, but it wasn't due to the passage of time, but due to his association with the Strawhats. Pretty sure that 50 million increase was post Dressrosa.

So how come Dorry and Brogy got inflation added to their bounties and Brook didn't then

Because, as I mentioned, Brook was basically a nobody pirate while Dorry and Broggy were Captains of a notorious giant based Pirate Crew that terrorized the world 100 years ago and are still very much at the peak of their power.

So inflation doesn’t apply to Brook because he’s a nobody?

Would he get inflation on his bounty now that he’s part of an Emperor’s crew then?

That's likely the case, yes.

Probably, yeah. The Strawhats are super notorious troublemakers who turn the world upside down practically every other day. If a single one of them were to reappear 100 years from now and return to active piracy, I can't imagine the then WG wouldn't give them a bounty that matched modern standards.

So when could we expect them to add the inflation to Brook's bounty?

I don't get your point. Brook doesn't need any inflation. His bounty is going to rise the normal way as it has been the past decade or so. His current bounty already reflects the modern bounty pricing.

Brook's bounty would like be inflated only if he was in the exact same situation as Dorry and Broggy from this point forward. As in, if he were to be frozen/missing at this exact moment in time for 100 years.

I don't think Brook need anymore inflation. Because of this:

He was never on the scale of the giants. I don't think inflation should really apply here to Brook.

But also because of threat level. Just because you're on a Yonkou crew does not mean you get a bounty. Bounties are issued due to individual threat levels. Brook was never a big threat when he was with the Rumbar pirates and he wasn't a threat as soul king. He just made music and his fans just love the shit out of him just like any modern day popstar. Influential? Yes. Threat? Less likely. Then all the post time skip shenanigans happen and still, Brook is not the powerhouse that can ace the likes of Lucci or Queen like Zoro and Sanji can respectively. His threat is far lower. Now if he starts using his soul powers to start infiltrating mariejois, stealing secrets and never being caught, then sure his threat level can increase but right now it doesn't seem like the WG even know that Brook went up against Big Mom's homies to steal her rubbings. If they knew then his bounty might be higher due to his infiltration abilities but they don't seem to be privy to that.

So 100 years has inflation while 50 years doesn't give enough way for inflation?

That seems kinda fishy.

1) This doesn’t need to be looked into to deeply. It’s a simple retcon by the author;

2) The inflation does make sense. Dorry & Broggy’s Active Pirate era was over 100+ years ago.

Dorry & Broggy are 160yrs old; Their duel on little garden has been going on for 100 years.

So why would Xebec D Rocks; Gol D Roger & WhiteBeard need their Bounties to be adjusted to inflation when their Pirate Era only occurred just 45years ago…their bounties are from current times. It’s not from over a century ago…

3) See 1.

But HereNThere was saying that Brook's bounty has risen the normal way as it has been the past decade and already reflects the modern bounty pricing. Is that all really a retcon?

Not really. I doubt Oda put much thought into it, but you can have this all make sense. Like so: Dorry and Broggy were pre-Roger Era. Things were likely different prior to him and his peers (Xebec, WB, Big Mom, etc) taking to the seas and making a name for themselves. Given the shenanigans they got into, they were probably the generation of pirates that forced the WG to increase the cap for bounties.

Brook, being a tenured pirate while Roger was still an up and coming rookie, would also fall under that camp. However, as I mentioned, because he was a nobody, the WG didn't bother increasing his bounty when he returning to active piracy until he started making moves with the Strawhats.

But again, the main reason for all of this is just because Oda wants Dorry and Broggy to have the appropriate bounties. Brook, as it stands, has the bounty that Oda deems appropirate for him already.
