We've seen recently that Catarina Devon has the 9 tailed fox devil fruit. I believe that there is more with this devil fruit when it comes to writing. One thing we all know about Catarina is that she likes to cut the heads of beautiful women off. I believe this has taken effect recently in the story. I think Catarina has killed 2 female characters we've seen so far. Stussy and Black Maria.
The reason i believe this is due to some similarities with these two characters. First both characters have something to do with sex. As Stussy is called the "Queen of the Pleasure DIstrict" and we recently learned that Black Mari runs brothels on Onigashima. oth have high ranking positions that let them get close to powerful figures and both are beautiful.
I believe Catarina has killed both of them. If not maybe just Stussy for the time being. I think this may have happened when the Blackbeard Pirates fought Cipher Pol. Now it was said that the RA fought Fujitora and Green Bull on the 4th day of the Levely. So you may be asking...
How was Devon able to get from Baltigo, to Mariejois, then back to Beehive, and now Wano. Well I have a few possible answers.
1. Laffitte may have a devil fruit similar to Karasu.Where he can make birds to travel people to places. He already snuck into a meeting with warlords and Sengoku so the Levely shouldn't be that hard, especially if the RA was able to.
2. She could have stolen Kuma's devil fruit.(This si the one i think the least of), but i want to think it's a possibility. But with Blackbeards knowledge of Devil fruits i believe he would share how to take them. Plus Kuma is a cyborg so killing him may not do much.
3. Her powers allow her to transform into birds as well and she flew herself.
The next thing we need to talk about is the devil fruit. Like i said she can turn into a 9 tailed fox. One notable trait of kyubi's is that the can turn into beautiful women.(this is most likely where Kisimoto got the idea for the sexy jitsu) It also should be known that they do this in order to seduce men and steal their souls. This could be a reference to the blackbeard pirates being able to steal devil fruits. And while im skeptical myself on if she has killed black maria(which we will talk about later), Black maria is said in the wiki to have a flirtatious personality. Plus we already have seen that Devon can transform into people who are already dead with Absalom. They can also mimic clothes and voice, however devil fruits powers are unknown.
The reason for this is that i think Devon herself wishes to be beautiful. So since she has this devil fruit(btw which i think she either had before or gained during the timeskip) she can make that dream come true. And i believe that blackbeard sent her to wano to get kaido's dragon devil fruit.
now you're already thinking again. Devon is no match for Kaido, Plus why wouldn't Blackbeard just go himself. Well we already know Black beard is a coward. And the last time we saw him he was about to be killed by one Yonko and decided not to fight another and just left. Now there are 2 Yonkos in Wano so it's best to send someone to infiltrate the nation and take the fruit when Kaido is at his weakest, which may occur if he is defeated. or Blackbeard might just show up himself and help her with the rest of the crew.
my last point i want to make is that of this arc's theme. The theme of identity. So many characters in this arc have been revealed to be someone else or playing a different role. It would be awesome if we got a curveball like this.
also did you know we've been getting a lot of females characetrs in the story and alsmot all of them are evil. Monet, Sugar, Smoothie and Linlin, Stussy, Komurasaki, and now Black Maria. And then Devon fits this moniker. Plus so far all of our long nosed characters have been liars in some way. Cant wait to see if the tengu is gonna be someone cool.
