hey first ever post^^
okay now, here are my reasons, based purely on observation and interpretation, why i believe like some others here that not only did sakura mean it when she said she liked Naruto, but also that she had very clear goals in mind as to what she had set out to achieve with this conversation.

Let's take it from the top:

Where it begins
(you'll need this to be able to follow me)

Page 10:
Enter the conversation. Sakura has just confessed. On this page I believe one can best see Sakura's actual Emotions. Avoiding eye contact, lowering her chin, blushing. Yep, she really likes him - oh for all anti-Sakura fans, I am in Fact assuming that she is a Person with Feelings and not in fact the pink-haired antichrist.
Also on this page, Naruto's wide-eyed disbelief.
I think naruto is simply stunned here, because eventually, he really really wanted to hear this - however, doesn't understand Sakura's reason behind telling him then and there. which brings us to

Page 11:
...oh right, there IS one more panel on page 10. I'd prefer to adress it here, however because its contents are relevant to page 11. So, Sakura, right after having said that she really likes him, goes out of her way to adress Sasuke boefore anyone can interject. Now, I might just already be a callous bastard at 16, but generally when a person I am takling to adresses an obstacle to their logic before I can, it's because they don't want me to adress it! So this sentence, coupled with the fact that her confession came so suddenly and at such an inappropreate time, is the cause for naruto to question her.
She tries to dispell his qualms, however her sentences are (to my mind, and maybe only my mind) very out of character. Also, Kakashi is immediately clued to the fact that something is amiss, and kakashi has always been this series' bullshit-detector.

Page 12:
Here we see Sakura's main mistake in convincing Naruto of her honesty, as the very next panel indicates. I actually get the feeling that she is hurrying through her confession too much, trying to get it over with so that naruto can stop shouldering the burden of his promise. But seriously, wrong timing. Also on this page, Kakashi getting more insight, I have no clue about what, and some hints as to the fact that we do not know everything that has happened previously. Obviously, (to me :S) Naruto asks her again if she is in earnest.

Page 13:
Yes she does have plenty of reasons, and yes that could be a normal answer. She might be trying to change the topic, but lets not interpret too much -.-
Okay, we might have to come to a realization.
Naruto is not stupid. A klutz yes. Not very good at following orders or logical thinking yes. not stupid. he can tell when someone is out of character just as any of us can.
I will also not make him out to be some sort of mindreader. The memories he is looking back on have a musch larger meaning to him than to sakura.
Why? Because of the relationship between the two for most of the series.
He took her actions towards him much more seriously than she did, because he loved her. She didnt love him. When she asked him to bring sasuke back, it was because she wanted sasuke back and naruto was the best person to ask. However, i believe it's also the first time in the series that she ever askes a real favor of Naruto (any other favors she may have asked were probably also related to sasuke). Because of this, he has teaken this promise much more to heart than she has.
wow that was long for a single page, but i did extrapolate, I guess.

Page 14:
A hug with lots of unconvinced faces on the side. Kishi's message is fairly clear, and I need a break after page 13

Page 15:
Yah, this is from the heart. She really means it, and its quite nice to read actually. Finally Naruto gets recognition. However she mentions Sasuke again.
For Naruto this means that
Firstly, she can't forget Sasuke (whether this is true or not is debatable, personally I think it was just a poor comparison on her behalf) and secondly, it rubs salt into the wound from he mentioning the "promise" earlier. The promise HE couldn't keep. Like I said, this is more important to him than to her. As Kusashu said, part of him needs the promise to justify forgiving Sasuke his actions.
And also generally, don't compare the guy you love to the guy you used to love in front of him. Friggin duh.

Page 16:
Naruto tells her straigh out that he isn't falling for it.
The problem is that their conversation has two levels, the first level just being her confession and the second consisting of her trying to get him to stop chasng Sasuke. My fear is that it could be (I think it's the case) that in seeing through to the second layer, he actually belives that the pretense (her being in love with him) is also a lie.

In conclusion, I do believe that Sakura honestly tried to express her feelings for Naruto, but this confession was incompatible with
a) the time - Naruto just had a talk with a guy who told him sasuke would never come back. This isn't her fault as she has no way of knowing, but it sure didn't help.
b) the situation - Naruto is LOOKING FOR SASUKE.
c) what she actually had to achieve (through pressure from sai, for which i thank him, because the story should finally adress this point) - she set out to convince him to turn back and release him from his promise. Confessing to him might have worked, but she most definetly phrased it wrong.

Also I think she might have known it wouldnt, judging by her face in the last panel.
Let's wait and see...

PS: I know it's been said, but poor, poor lee. and naruto looks fat on page 17 panel 1^^
