I just came upon Gvidalqs post for the Anime ED regarding the "Angels".
First of all, thank you to him.
Seeing the Norse Influence, there are no Angels but something in that likes.
The Valkyrie.
It's a being that decides the life and death of (Keyword in AoT) Soldiers.
However, they are not evil, the very opposite.
The Valkyrie sends the dead into Valhalla to assist in the battle of Ragnarök.
Anyway, that's not what made me think of Christa.
But the following.
Valkyries, are often described as daughters of the noble.
This doesn't need explanation right?
They have a major amount of admirers and are often lovers of heroes.
This one neither.
The Valkyrie are in some kind of connection with Horses.
Second Panel.
"Horses take a liking to you and you have a sort of virtuous air around you"
Furthermore:
"We escaped certain death thanks to you"
Again a Valkyrie decides over lives and deaths of Soldiers.
Furthermore, we have this entire talk of "Goddess Christa", Isayama depicted her as an Angel like Titan.
In media, Valkyries are often portrayed as kind of resembling Angels.
Most well known one.
In the Poem of Helgakviða Hundingsbana, the Valkyries are referred to as Goddesses.
In the poem of Hrafnsmál there is a mentioning of a Valkyrie described as the Golden Haired Maiden with sparkling eyes but has no interest in men (romantically).
Some names of Valkyries are even descriptive of their roles, Historia/History?
I'm not saying Christa is this mythical being but perhaps that may have been inspired by them.
