yet another very controversial thread here. What do you all think about the more recent developments between this two countries? Recently Colombia accused Venezuela of not doing enough to deal with farc and eln members inside their territory (colombia claimed venezuela currently had 1500 terrorists in their territory and they were quite comfortable there) which lead to venezuela ending diplomatic relations with colombia. Hugo Chavez later also made a public announcement that the probability of being invaded by colombia and USA was higher than ever before.

Certainly this is a major problem in my country. The drug lords have made it a horrid place to live in certain areas. I look forward to moving away one day.

Not sure what to think of Venezuela right now. I have believe chavez is missing a few screws for quite a while now.... Colombia presented what they called evidence that there were farc members in venezuela and they were not being dealt with or properly persecuted by venezuelan justice. They basically made it clear they thought chavez (I doubt venezuela itself has any warm feelings towards farc) was harboring them. Ideologically, chavez and farc are not different in any plausible way so the idea that chavez would harbor them and even help them is not particularly so far out there. Under normal circumstances the accusations in question would result in an investigation, yet the reaction was to completely cut of diplomatic relationships with colombia. What I thought was really far out there was that chavez claimed the odds of being invaded by colombia and USA were absurdly high. Can someone believe the USA and colombia would invade venezuela right now? Seems absurd given that USA has even ignored and not taken seriously chavez's constant insults towards them or their constant weapon buying (as if venezuela could even have an army with a tenth of the might of the USA army lol).... Dunno, this whole thing is nothing but crazyness up to this point.

Chavez "was" one the best president before the coup of d' etat that he received, after that he lost all the screws he had. Is a shame but someone created a huge monster. Is unlikely that U.S would invade Venezuela, especially right know when the world disapproves the actions of US in Iraq and Afghan wars. To be honest I'm surprised that the world didn't sanction colombia when they attacked ecuador, colombia is like the israel in America, is becoming a bigger threat due their drugs cartel and due the way the last governments acts.

Sorry if I offend jews, but I'm strictly speaking about the action of the governments.

I always had the impression that chavez has always been the exact same way as he is now. Rather than the coup made him lose a few screws, I get the impression he merely has been getting more radical simply because no one can do anything about it. Also, IMO saying colombia "attacked" ecuador is either wrong or severely misleading. Colombia did bomb Ecuadorian soil but they did not target Ecuadorian citizens, they were after a very important farc leader and successfully dealt a blow against the entire organization. I also do not see how colombia is a risk to the region. It's not like they actually have interest in a war against venezuela or any other country.
