Naruto 457
Just a look at what happened last chapter. Also a shout out to mangahut.com, whose quality I rely on now that I actually use online readers. Also the style of my reviews is just reading, and writing whatever thoughts that pop into my mind.
1. Are these Samurai a separate race?
We get a better look at the Samurai in this chapter, and it seems that being tall is a requirement for getting in. The geekier part of me wonders if Kishi is going to do the fantasy trope of 'men of the north'. Tall, gray eyed men who populate fantasy, and are the Sons of Gods, and so on. The other part of me wonders at what training they are given. My guess is that it's a Sparta like in it's focus on creating superior seperate soldiers to make the group stornger. Either way, we are being given little information about them, so maybe expect them as antaganist not just in this arc, but in a greater war if Naruto's plan fail. Also, I doubt the Samurai are okay with the Ninja based class system, and would like to supliment it with their own class. Their strength is still in question though.
2. Karin can sense chakra...
...and Aloe Vera promises not to lie. I wouldn't be surprised if Aloe Vera (I use to have an Aloe Vera plant btw) didn't have a similar skill. Seriously, did guy's whole job that we have seen is spying on high level battles between ninjas, when their senses are at their highest. He probably has to have some chakra control to pull it off, and maybe the ability to sense chakra too from even longer distances than Karin. If that's true, Karin telling Aloe Vera (very nice for severe burns too) that she can sense chakra could be a clue. Still, not enough information has been given.
3.Shi too?
Or maybe he is just really good at those regular sensing of chakra. Now that I think about it, is Karin's ability really rare? Or is the extent of her ability what's rare? We know that regular Ninja can sense the chakra of others. I think it's like the Sharigan to the Byakugan. Both can sense chakra flow, but the latter puts the former to shame with a greater 'sight'. So this is a skill in all ninja, and Karin simply is the Byakugan to every else's Sharigan.
Oh, having that face saying 'Konoha Dogs' had me laughing. Too baby faced to give it any sort of tension.
4. God I hope I'm wrong
Why is it I get the feeling that Naruto's love of Sasuke has been replaced with his love of peace? Or even worse, they have combined, and mutated into something else. Are we now going to get chapter after chapter of him growing moon eyed when ever someone says the word 'peace', or when two ninja fight? Faith in Kishi, Faith in Kishi! Either way, this is a pretty selfish argument of Naruto to make. And childish too. He asks for a gift without knowing the price of it, and automatically assumes his need is greater than the Raikage's. Once again he also takes the choice out of other ninja's hands, and makes it for them. As when he decided that Sasuke's goals did not matter, and he would continue to chase after him no matter what Sasuke said. It has always been a bit egoist.
5. Sai is finally gonna do...
...something. Your guess is as good as mines. My guess when I first read this was Sai was going to go after Naruto, and help with the Danzou situation. Not much else to say on it.
6. Naruto crying?
Seriously Kishi. Naruto crying. On his knees. In the snow. Seriously Kishi? Seriously? It's not the type of cool manly man crying he did during his part 1 mega battle with Sasuke either. This is pretty much whining. A good thing to note though. Kakashi notices that Naruto has no skill at begging, which means that Kishi knows that Naruto's crying is out of character. That means that Kishi has a plan! I just wish his awesome plans didn't involve Naruto on his knees, begging and crying.
Little note-
At least someone remembers Neji's father whatshisname.
7. Raikage gives him a beatdown.
So, Raikage tells the truth as he and I see fit. What will Naruto's response be to this? His all encompassing solution to the problem of war, and hatred in the Shinobi world. Hopefully it doesn't involve crying on his knees in front of every ninja he can find.

Thoughts
So Sasuke finally sees Danzou. This doesn't put an end to the Danzou=Tobi theory of course, but I think Kishi is trying to play around with us as we find out in the next chapter. Either way, I still don't believe Danzou is Tobi. Also the Land of Iron has some really cool architecture.
Naruto 458
1. Gaara kicks ass
See Naruto. This is how someone acts. You don't have to get on your knees and cry, but can instead be mature about the whole situation, and simply allow no one to push your ideas out of the way. I never paid much attention to Gaara, but he can actually get into my top 5 list in this arc.
Note Mizukage's support for Gaara. I think she may also be on the side of 'good', if Kishi hasn't made it clear enough.
Also we finally get some information on why the great villages allowed their Jinchuuruki to be taken.
2. Tsuchikage's old ways
So Tsuchikage's age shows that he is not part of the younger generation, that seems to be developing, who believe that diplomancy should rule their world. As Gaara said in a kickass line, 'Appearances, Dignity, What worthless old-fashioned ideas'. Naruto has definitely had an influence on the Kazekage, if that wasn't made clear (which it was). Except that Gaara seems to have the maturity to actually think through his ideas, and not present them in a childish manner.
3.Really? A young Jinchuuruki Kage a pawn? Nahhh, unbelievable.
So Yagura, the young Jinchuuriki of the Mist was the fourth Mizukage. Definitely adds a different dimension to the 'Bloody Mist' and it's trials. And only four people have been able to control the Bijuu? Ah, I see Kishi. Another challenge for Naruto. Time to master his Bijuu under Killer Bee (or that could be the fanboy in me).
Also note Danzou's information. How the hell did he know Killer Bee could control the Nine Tails completely. The Raikage doesn't exactly seem the type to let that information just flow out. Danzou's network also exists among the great villages in addition to the small ones. Before, I thought Danzou's focus was simply on keeping the small villages obediant to the large ones, and that he believed in the stability of the 5 great nations. Now, I am not so sure.
4. Some interesting things to note.
Temari uses the same fan, but needs a scroll to carry it now. There has to be some sort of secret or else that is just lame.
Kankurou's puppet looks like Sasori. That could mean anything or nothing.
Chojuro's sword is round? Also with the wrapping, no doubt it has a hidden power two. I can't wait to see the fight between him and Suigetsu that simply has to happen.
5. Hmm
I vaguely remember Jiraiya? talking about Akatsuki being a group of mercenaries. Also I definitely remember Pain telling (lying) Akatsuki about his plans. Didn't think that Kishi would actually stick with it, but it makes perfect sense of course. Why else would the other Akatsuki members join? Only Pain and maybe Madara are the destruction of everything freaks.
Things to note-
No one from the Lightning village has joined. I guess the ninjas there are content and unlike ninjas from other countries, have no reason to join a mercenary group when their own country still supports them highly.
Gaara was left out of the loop. If Gaara lives through all of this, some people in the Sand are going to have some explaining to do.
This whole relying on mercenary business reminds me of the time before the hidden villages were established. Maybe a hint that things are returning to all out war, every clan for itself? Probably not.
6. Hell yeah Raikage!
Danzou did it! Good to see that Raikage knows of Danzou and is properly suspicious of him. Still, Raikage is a straight forward type of guy, and Danzou is a hidden in the shadows type. I think it comes out pretty equally when it comes to who will win between them. And no I am not talking about fighting, but Danzou may want to try assasinating the Raikage, or vice versa.
7. Hmm 2.0 beta
Fourth Mizukage under outside influence? Well, it was probably (obviously) Madara. The question is whether or not Kisame calling Madara was his title, or just being respectful. That would mean there were those who knew Madara existed behind the scenes, and respected the true Mizukage. Like Ao for example?
8. And how does he know that?
It seems that Kishi wants to keep the Tobi=Danzou thing going. From my understanding, not many people in Konoha know of Madara. Only Jiraiya, Kakashi, Naruto, and Tsunade if my memory (never reliable in the best of times) serves me correct. of course Itachi could have simply told him back in the day, or he could have figured out that Itachi didn't commit to massacre alone. Well, there are a few possibilities. Nothing concrete yet.
9. Mifune and Danzou!
Yeah, it was probably too naive to think that Danzou and Mifune weren't in cohorts together. This is just way too convienant for him. So does this mean the Land of Iron is no longer neutral? We will see. It can still be a coincedence, but Danzou's thoughts tend to suggest that he knew this was coming. It would make perfect sense in other areas too. Danzou wants the domination of the leaf village. He may consider the Samurai to be no threat to the Shinobi system, and has created an alliance with them. As I said in my other review above, I doubt the Samurai like the system as it currently exists. We also know that Danzou likes creating alliances, if him and Hanzo are any indication.
10. damn Damn DAMN
Seriously, what happened to the Sakura that kicked Sasori's ass. This whole scene is just out of character for her. At least Sai is finally noticing human emotions, and understanding them to a large extent (compared to before).
Well at least we can probably get some development on the Naruto/Sakura relationship. There are a few possibilities that may come of this and I will talk about them below.
11. Hmm 2.0 RC
Well, I think the meeting will end peacefully. How is this going to go down? Raikage, and Tsuchikage are definitely against this idea. Mizukage, and Kazekage are probably for it. Note that she was pretty quiet, and probably doesn't know of Danzou. Also she probably has some admiration for her fellow Kages, especially the Kage of the Leaf. Gaara doesn't know of Danzou it seems either, so he may look at him in the same vein as Sarutobi and Tsunade.
We will see.

Thoughts-
This chapter could have been better. Most of the revelations were already known to us, and we still haven't learned anything tangible.
Ideas of what may happen-
Naruto sees fighting (if that does happen) at the meeting, or has already broken into the summit along with Kakashi and Yamato. He gets involved of course
Or Naruto goes back home since his only purpose was to talk to the Raikage, and that failed. He meets Sakura along the way.
Well, Naruto isn't the type to give up easily, so he may try talking to the Raikage again. Or he may try talking to the other Kages, but that is more dangerous as Danzou may find out. Either way, I think Naruto is going to play a full part in the proceedings. Also I see Sakura and Sai arriving to help him out.
Pretty weak prediction, but if I was good at predictions, I'll be rich by now. :P
