The power of Devil Fruits do not originate from the users' body, but are created somewhere else and sent through invisible means.

Devil Fruits have a wavelength. The frequency of the wavelength is used to determine which ability to sent. Each ability has a unique frequency, and normally each ability is unique an belongs to a single person.

The fact that a person who eats two fruits explodes is evidence that there's energy involved in the process of sending this power. Two abilities is too much for a body to handle.

The sea interferes with the frequency, which messed with the users' body, making it impossible for them to move undewater.

Vegapunk discovered how to implement the wavelength directly into a body without consuming a fruit. This way Vegapunk can transfer abilities to objects, or even duplicate it with Artificial Devil Fruits or Pacifistas.

We know a bit of how devils fruits are made, from Caesar Clown.

It appears he sacrificed animals for their lineage factor, which retains their concioussness, their voice. This voice is then suppressed by a strong psychotropic... If things work out.

People are taking things way too literally about DFs. Vegapunk basically confirmed that DFs were created by the Ancient Kingdom and that each DF was made to meet the will of someone to evolve in a certain way through science. The only question left is whether this will was science haute couture for someone else or whether each DF was directly designed by the first user’s imagination after going through some special design experiment? As for water, it simply is a natural kryptonite that disrupts the lineage factor transformation from working for physical reasons yet to be explained.

From the latest comments of Vegapunk we have learnt that:

• The AK ideology was something that the WG wanted to destroy from history records as it is directly a thread to the WG order
• The AK designed technological tools to do anything the humanity wanted from floating, swaping, robots and also to redesign directly the lineage factors of individual as per their own will
• All of AK tech was banished (robot to be hidden) and the only pieces lefts of the AK tech were the DFs whose technology leave the DF users bodies at death to relocate themselves into natural fruits (may be some specific varieties) whose form are altered afterwards in a unique way listed in the DF encyclopedia.

If we follow this logic, it is likely that the AK ideology is to provide permanently all of humanity with the ability to evolve as per their own individual wills and fulfil their imagination. So I think that the One Piece must be a gigantic technological tool to activate to the achieve that AK quest hence a worldwide technological dream provider.

I think the best way for the One Piece to work is to alter permanently the best incarnation of nature which are the waters mentioned in this chapter since all of humanity is made of and drink water - we had a hint about it through the Wano arcs. If AK wanted to alter all waters in the world with One Piece they would have to make sure that they are all connected somewhere so they need the All Blue to exist. That is why they planned to restructure the world architecture and to destroy the Red Line at specific places through the Ancient Weapon Pluton they created. All Blue is a mandatory way to achieve their free evolution dream.

Also, if he can duplicate a Paramecia, why not use that as an energy source? There's an absurd amount of energy involved in Kuma or Fujitora's abilities

Agree that there's still plenty of room for wavelengths. Vegapunks explanation was more on the why and not the how. To me this wavelength hypothesis is an attempt to explain the mechanism of DFs and not their reason for existing. We still haven't gotten a detailed mechanistic explanation, which is necessary since we have smiles and Vegapunks artificial DF in the world. The wishes explanation doesn't give us any insight into how they work or why it was possible to create them in the first place.

My issue with this theory, or at least the framing, is that devil fruit abilities definitely work by basically altering individual's lineage factors. Wavelength seems.... adjacent to that. Lineague factor shenanigans so far:

1.- Vegapunk used it to replicate kaido's fruit, a mythical zoans. Mythical zoan I would argue are essentially zoans with paramecia like abilities.
2.- Caesar used lineage factors to create smiles.
3.- Judge used lineage factors to alter his children and give them exoskeletons, some manner of advanced healing and presumably also their unique specific skills. Which kinda resemble paramecia abilities.
4.- The seraphines also seemingly have copies of other fruits. Even if we argue sr pink was killed hence how s-shark could have his ability, s-bear has a duplicate of the actual kuma's ability.

And sanji can use fire which seems increasingly difficult to distance from his sibling's abilities and mink for god knows what reason can use electro... Going a bit further it's kinda hard to not connect seraphines and the vinsmokes. The seraphines are clones derived from shichibukai lineage factors AND lineage factors from devil fruits which even have living users. The vinsmokes, whose patriarch is a former vegapunk colleague, have a literal clone army and their scions have devil fruit like abilities (that don't get rejected by the ocean).
