Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

what was hxh issuse?
I'm no Togashi fan, but his arrangement with Shueisha is what it is. It's the same with Hoshino and Shueisha. They both have different reasons though. While the fandom is strong for both series, HxH is just more popular and sells better.

I mean, I think it's easy to look at Togashi and call him a lazy bum, but no one really knows what his contract says or what's inside his head.

With Hoshino, she just isn't able to handle the workload I guess.

I'm happy that Allen is in the game but as a support character is such a waste. :l

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

Either Jump is including DGM as a way to respect its Jump heritage, or it's a sign that it may be coming back to Jump.
That's not happening EVER. We should be happy with a monthly schedule. Right now she can't even handle a monthly, yet to handle a weekly series, and I'm not sure if she is going to be able to do it in even in a far future. So, no. Allen is there because DGM was an important series some years ago in Jump.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

I dont see it becoming weekly either, Hoshino won't be able to come
Back to what made her ill (probably)...

I think they recognize that DGM was a huge success in WSJ (it was selling almost like Bleach) and maybe Allen is a support player because the series isn't from WSJ anymore or is not THAT huge now. I think it is a waste but I'm still happy that he was considered :) if u think about it there's a lot of other characters that could have been in his place.

It's not ever going to be weekly again, but as a monthly it is in Jump SQ (when not on hiatus), which is what I thought Jaymie was referring to? The Jump family of magazines. But either way I highly doubt there was any special meaning in Allen being there, with regard to publishing plans. Just squeezing out some further marketing opportunities I guess. (And maybe as a roundabout anniversary nod to its publication in WSJ.)

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

you don't see Blue Exorcist in this game even though it's more popular than most Jump series these days.
Ao no Exorcirst has nothing to do with Shounen Jump since it is not Shounen Jump series.

Yeah, Allen being in the game is no different than characters from popular series that ended already. DGM was popular when it was in WSJ, so Allen is included.

Hmm.. I wonder since Allen is in this new game if Sanae Kobayashi will be the voice over for him again? I'm hoping she does!

I saw that Sanae Kobayashi will be voicing Allen again, buuuuuut I would take it with a grain of salt since I only saw it on wiki... lol. I would love to play that game. Allen support 24/7.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

The longer time passses, the more I realize how much I liked D.Gray-Man, it's still growing on me =o

To be honest, I don't think a weekly release will be too far fetched, however it's dangerous to hope for it, since it's kinda 50%/50% chance with the information we have available, we simply don't know how strong she will be when she returns.
I do think she will return eventually though, at least we can hope :)

It's in a monthly magazine, so unless it switches magazines again, there's no chance of it becoming weekly...

Dang, didn't really think about that :0

But did it really switch magazin owner as well? I mean, if its the same owner behind the old weekly and new monthly magazin, then anything could happen I guess.
But if it's a new owner, then I agree it probably won't come in a weekly magazin again.

What do you mean "switch magazine owner?" Are you talking about changing publisher?

It moved from Weekly Shounen Jump, to Jump SQ, both published by Shueisha.

There is rumour about Shueisha cancels contract with Hoshino and if Hoshino wants to continue DGM, she has to find another publisher.
It's only rumour though.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

^ Let's keep it at a rumor level and nothing more. :)

Hoshino is still far better than Yukiru-sensei, who doesn't have health problems. Many of Yukiru's works have been left in the dust, including D.N.Angel, which I've pretty much given up on. She puts a hiatus on it, and when she suddenly thinks of new material, D.N.Angel shows up again in Asuka for a very short period of time. Asuka seems very lenient with Yukiru-sensei. She can put one project on hiatus and start a new one in the same magazine. Lagoon Engine had so much potential and mystery, but much like Yukiru's adventure into the Newtype magazine phase, it went on the hiatus shelf. There are plenty of other mangakas (and manhwagas), who went on long time hiatuses. Some come back and some don't. I think Hoshino is different. DGM has done very well, tankoubon sale wise. It shows that many people are still with the series even with its short and long hiatuses. (The amount of people squealing "Allen Walker" on Siliconera made me grin.)

That rumor is a fake.

Someone translated the page about D.Gray-man going to take hiatus differently. So, you don't really worry about that.

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

^ Thought so... I had a feeling that it was one of those mistranslations, which spread into these "rumors". This "rumor" doesn't even exist in 2ch so all should be well, except for those who can't translate Japanese that well. I had to put a stop to a "DGM is cancelled" rumor growing in Mangafox by making a thread over there a few months ago.

Thank you, Kaizou, for verifying. ^_^

Re: DGM Hang Out Thread - Part 1

That particular rumour probably irritates more than any of the others. The original comment-- written by someone who appears to be (via the Facebook comment's source) a student at a music school in the US, and yet claims to be an aspiring mangaka --reads like a prank to me, yet it caught on like wildfire on tumblr. Sadly, I don't think debunkers' reblogs put that much of a dent in the reblogs done by people who actually bought the lies. Thanks to this person, who knows how many people think it would be "supporting" the author not to buy her work if the publication says "Jump" (or "Shounen Jump") on it. Possibly hundreds. :notrust
