Hey guys I was wondering if you guys could help me out, so ever since DGray Man Hallow started to air I've been hearing some really great things about it so with this happening I've suddenly been motivated to start the series. But what I was wondering was, where should I start? Should I start at the manga? I also heard there was a much older anime, if so should I start there?

One thing to start, just remember that a manga and anime are 2 different things.

Anime are only based off of the manga. And as such, the show creators change elements of the story as they see fit. It's like books vs. movies. Some stuff is left out, glossed over, or outright changed in films, leading them to be more underwhelming than the books, for book fans.

The DGM manga is the original source material, done by the creator of the world and characters -Hoshino Katsura. So she includes things she feels are important, and goes into detail with her story.

The anime is done by different people, some there's some things they leave out. Some things are changed. And some stuff they just add in because they feel like it. And Hoshino doesn't have much power or say in it.

Since you wanna watch Hallow, I say watch the previous 2006-2008 anime. Then come to Hallow.

But if you want the full story and events, the manga is good for that. I find it best to keep them separate. Anime canon will differ from Manga canon.

Read the manga and the light novel. The anime (all seasons, Hallow included) is optional

I will put my hope on major plot points in the fanbook that hasn't revealed yet and have to wait until the next 3 chapters

That would only be 2 chapters, no? Mid-October and mid-January, since the third would be mid-April, after the expected release.

But, I agree with that. A part of me is sure that the delay is due to the recent upset over the anime promo, but having it get pushed back by another half-year increases the amount of juicy plot points that might be referenced and expanded on. Like stat descriptions of some of the new Noah!

I kinda wondered that myself. This, in combination with her shutting down her Insta account. Just seems like a good bit, conveniently after the PROMO issue.

But maybe it really is delayed because Hoshi wants to thicken it up some.

It seems the pre print process was finished (pages counts) so it's unlikely

First shutting down her instagram account and now delaying both artbook and fanbook. I hope those bad news have nothing to do with the upset over the anime promo if so i'll start to doubt if having a new anime season of D gray man was a good idea. the well-being of the author and the manga are more important imo anyway.
well,she said before that the amount of work is big maybe that's why she won't make it until september.

I mean it could be worse... She could decide to stop writing. But she isn't! On the bright note she has calmed down according to her Instagram. I just hope she still continues to release chapters. I'm patient either way. Its kinda ironic she described herself as being the character Miranda. Someone who sees themselves as a failure. And gets down when people says bad things about them or what they do. But really they are strong and more gifted then they think they are.

If so, then something has definitely happened. This may very well have something to do with Hoshi's comments on the PROMO art with Hallow.

I won't be surprised to hear the chapter being postponed next. But I would like to be wrong on bad things for once lol

Well, if they will be out next year, doesn't make sense it's on the site until the date is close. I mean, it's like when a volume is gonna be released and they're added to the site at least one month before.

But I think that this postponement has something to do with her speaking up too

Today should be the day to post spoilers for the next episode of the anime in the official website but there is no news. Is it normal or maybe it's having a relation with the recent events.? I feel like things are getting serious about the upset and all... i hope not because it will complicate things more.

I noticed that myself. We usually get updates every Fri. And I like to post them in the Hallow thread, just o contribute as a DGM fan and forum member. But noticed we didn't get anything.

So Hoshino may not have only spoken out on Insta. She may have just started there. Maybe she complained elsewhere as well. Or the someone from TMS saw her Insta before deletion and has now complained to her. So now, Hallow and her books may be state of chaos. It took them a while to get her approval. Now they have gone and screwed up more with the ooc promo art, and even some of her fans complaining to her prior to that -which she addressed on her Insta, but deleted later sometimes around episode 3 of Hallow.

Her books have been pushed back twice. Now a week later, Hallow seems to not be getting any spoilers on the site. I doubt it's coincidence. But it does seem like new merchandise is still being released. But the episode spoilers and Hoshi's books in delay...eh.

But it's still early. Now if Mon. rolls around and there is no episode, THEN it may be time to worry. lol

Well it's weird enough now and the other strange thing I find is why all this merchandise is being out for sell even if the anime has a limited budget. i mean aren't they related (anime budget and merchandise).? if so wouldn't be better to improve the anime quality first rather then releasing all this merchandise?

Long as we get manga chapters, i'm good. Provided Hoshino isn't straining her health.. But if something does happen with TMS and Hallow, I fear it won't be stopping at that, and that they'll drag Hoshino down with them. So, I am anticipating, not in a good way, that in Sept. we'll read "No Chapter Next Month"/ or "Chapter postponed until April."

We just got DGM back not long ago. And I, as a fan, got into it at the worst time -which was 2012 before it went into a coma for 4 years. So, I would hate for it to go on a huge break again, especially if it's because Hoshino spoke her mind about ooc promotions of her characters, and wasn't rude about it. I don't see her as in the wrong here, so it'd really suck for her work suffers because other people took liberties with her stuff.
