I don't like it, but perhaps a temporarily pause is better than some meaningless fillers, I want to believe it's going to be resumed, hopefully we wont wait so long.

I think for two opinion about it:

first one: they'll continue the episodes like when they said before in episode 62 (I guess).. I hope it fillers because the fillers in D.Gray Man not like the fillers in Naruto for example.. really.. here in the fillers, they explain alot of things..

second: they'll take pause for a while to make space between the manga & anime..

because it's not logical to end it like this & still sennen Hakshaku still aliva, Krory still sleeping & alot of mysteries didn't explore.. & the manga still ongoing.. >__<"

But I think the reason they're not doing fillers is because they've used up all the fillers the first time... Remember about Kanda's mission? And some others were also from the Reverse novels. But I don't think the filler arc about the girl with the crystal ball (I forgot her name!!! >.>) was very well received...

i can't believe they'll end it just like that
maybe they hadn't planned it yet but perhaps in the future they will release another season
but that would mean we won't be seeing d.gray-man for a long time

seeing how the manga and anime receives good reception from the fans .. i'm sure there will definitely be another season

and the manga is just starting to get to the good part... i'm sure they won't want to miss animating that out

To say i am upset about DGM ending would be a massive understatement!! Please let this just be a break, DGM is one of my favourites. This is deffinately a temporary pause and not an end!

Now for more good news. We have heard and have quite a lot of evidence that the D.Gray-Man anime will indeed go on. They are simply taking a break so that the anime does not catch up to the manga. Some people are saying the anime will start again in October, which would mean not even a break at all really, and some are saying they will start in late December. We have heard from a member of our site who knows someone who worked for the d.gray-man anime and the anime will continue, we just don't know when episode 104 will air in Japan

I am skeptical about this new since it seems too good to be true. What is their source? I don't really trust people who claimed that they know someone from the anime company unless they have proof. There is no mention on 2ch about the anime continuing in October (I would have found the titles for future episodes by now) nor in December. TV Tokyo's website and schedule (scroll down to 18 under 9月30日（火）) also show that this week will be the last episode (the little red box). If it were continuing in October, they would have removed that sign.

Because of this, I am taking the new about the anime's continuation with a huge grain of salt.

Considering the fact that the manga sells very well and that the anime is quite popular, having a second series is probable. Let's just hope it'll be a while till the second series actually airs. The anime is way too close to the manga.

I don't understand japanese so only flicked through the episode to see if it was the end and it appears so the ending is different i.e. story telling and finishes with the writing 'fin' so not a good sign

LJ user fidchell has posted the reason why the anime was cancelled:

Long story short, the ratings of D.Gray-man in Japan are really pathetic. It barely grazes 1.5-2% on a good week, which is twice less than Naruto and Bleach (3-4%) and four times less than One Piece (7-8%). Since it's a major Shonen JUMP series, it's going to be compared to those and it compares unfavorably. That's why D.Gray-man has nearly zero merchandise - the anime simply proves not profitable.

In addition, reviews of D.Gray-man anime series in Japan really sucked. 2channel outright hates it for a huge list of reasons and pretty much celebrated when it got canceled. The manga is still going good and strong, but the reactions to the anime range from strained to outright negative outside the established fandom.

My personal opinion aside, I suspect anime is down for the count unless they either hire another studio to redo it from the start, or have the existing team rethink their entire approach. As ratings, reviews and lack of merchandise proved, the series is doubtfully worth it anymore for the investors.

So in a business perspective, the anime was not making a profit; therefore it was a bad investment.

Judging from the fact that the DGM anime isn't making a profit, it's most likely not going to continue....unless they can find some way in which they can make a profit...

why wasn't DGM anime so popular that they had to end it? the story is great for people who don't read the manga, and I think the animation was good most times, even the fillers weren't awful as naruto's fillers for example. and I think the last episodes were good, and they'll look even better if you compared them to some other series, did you guys watch naruto 76-77? it wasn't great.
however, what if the people who weren't reading the manga before started to read it now to continue the story? doesn't that make the manga more popular that they might resume the series later? after putting a good distance between the manga and the anime. coz I can't understand how some other mangas that have worse chapters be more popular, bleach for example, the whole current arc is somehow boring and kind of fillers to me.
damn, I know it's all about money and profit, but we little fans should have some rights!

Is it really that poor if not compare to the 3(Naruto, Bleach and One Piece)?
I mean, Naruto and Bleach is like 3-4% while D Gray Man is around 1.5-2% which IMO is not that bad and far from those two.
I'm certainly not happy with people celebrate the cancelled of the anime, it pissed me off instead.
I won't mind of having another remake or something like that as long as the atmosphere still retain with high quality animation.

Off topic->Did anyone know what's the TV rating for Hitman Reborn cause both D Gray Man and Hitman Reborn is popular in the manga and both TV series aired on the same year and month. Wanna compare the 2 Tv rating.

nah, DGM's CD and DVD are still fine.
If u compare with One-Piece and Naruto, its no doubt that dgm did have a distance regarding the rating, but in 103, we can see they didn't end the story completely .
It stopped just becoz it was too close to the manga and its not a good idea to add fillers (just like season one).

I have read some news from other forums, saying that anime team was still looking for the script for season 3. (they didn't confirm but it will be totally uncertain becoz of the hiatus)

DGM is still profitable (sales of DVD are fine, but not great which is close to reborn hitman) and trading cards are still selling well.

OK, if u are anime team having the same situation , u will not go for season 3 coz u have no ideas what u gonna put in the new season, without manga.
