On Dec 20 there was an official announcement that DGM was getting a new anime = like a second season. You can read the previous posts in this thread or google it. You'll find more info may be in ANN, but basically, this anime has been confirmed by Hoshino as being a continuation of the old anime, not a remake. And about how much material there is, I don't know if you're following the new chapters of DGM after it resumed last July/August but I think there's a lot: zombies arc, Phamtom G/Timothy arc, Alma Karma's arc, Apocriphos...

Ofc, for the moment we only know that the anime is in going to be aired in 2016. No date has been announced because it should be at the very first steps of production and we'll get more details later on 2016. But IMHO, I don't think they'll make fillers. Nowadays, when an ongoing series is animated, they make anime seasons according to the disponibility of material, and then wait until there's enough chapters to make a new one.

this should also signal that the manga is going to avoid hiatus for a while if they have plans for this anime that means they must be planning on having enough material for it

In the pervious page of this thread, MSofAofCOCA posted an interesting speculation about the new anime, quoted it here

Assuming a 25 episode season, if they do decent pace and don't pull any One Piece crap and spend half of each episode recapping, then the break down should go something like this:

1~3: Recap the Lv. 4 fight, Tapp, Cross's departure and the Noah family talk (super duper important, and this time actually including Sheril's wife).
5~6: Zombie arc.
7~8: 1 episode move and talk between Cross and Allen, 1 episode flashback to Mana and end with the Cross plot twist.
9~14: 1 episode bridge (the innocence from chess etc.), 2 episodes finding Timothy, 3 episodes fight.
15: Timothy arc end (+ Nea), 3rd exorcist info dump, Kanda's visit to Zhu. End with ch. 186.
16~25: 1 Ep: Wisely, Alma arc set up ft. Johnny (basically, ch 187 & 188), Attach on NA Branch and set up Alma arc, 2 episodes Kanda's flashback (end with Alma's awakening), 4 episode fight plus Nea reveal, end with imprisonned Allen as the cliffhanger.

If they go easy on the filler scenes and pointless yelling during fights, this should be doable. If they make the season non standard and go for 30, that's more than enough.

I am however adamant about keeping the Zombie arc since it provided the much needed resolution betwen Lenalee and Komui, as well as served as a way to push the move between Headquarters (and highlighted the Order's dark history which comes into play in the Alma arc). It might not be the strongest of starts but it can easily be used as a reintroduction to the story and characters and a way to set the mood. If anything, I was more dissappointed at the way they handled the Noah family meeting in the previous anime and want to see that redone. But honestly those first 3 episode recaps can be cut and added to the Alma arc instead.

LASTLY, If we don't get the Zombie Arc, we basically won't see neither Lenalee nor Lavi this season, because neither participated in the Timothy arc. :/

I just hope we will get more info soon enough, in the next SQ or tops next Crown such as start of the show and such. I hope it's a Fall series so we could get as much new content for the manga until it sarts airing.

I think that the lack of General Yeegar's story actually backs up Allen's benevolence towards the Noah. Since outside of Yeegar (and the rest of the filler episodes) the only "issue" Allen has with the Noah is their association with the Earl/Akuma and Road having stabbed him (which he seems to have gotten over, anyway). With Yeegar's story, he would be expected to harbor a lot more hate for the Noah, which is the exact opposite of what has been established throughout the series. Heck, even Crown Clown existence is centered around the fact that he doesn't want to kill the Noah but save them instead. So, I'd rather see the animators stay vague with creating unnecessary animosity between Allen and the Noah, since developing their relationship outside of what is in the magna is actually detrimental to the characterization, in my opinion.

after reading your post and taking the time to think about it, I actually don't agree with you I feel Allen learned a lot from Yeegar and it helped his character in away even in his second fight with tyki I could see the anger in his eyes ( plus Yeegar feels very canon in my eyes and one of the few filler episodes that should be canon ) that just My opinion tho ^^'
( besides Allan already showed a lot of hate towards Road in the Miranda episodes anyway) But I still respect your opinion

The thing that matters is Allen's wish to save both human and akuma. The fight with Tyki was meant to show Allen's inner struggle of having to fight against human (noah) to protect human (his friend) and give Allen an option to follow his wish (even though it did not really work). So hatred and such shouldn't be that much focused. After all, Allen is kind with even his enemy (poor kid doesn't know there is someone under the Earl's suit).

Well, the official anime site is like "if you haven't watched the 1st (1-51) and the 2nd (52-103) season, just read the manga"

I suspect all of this is moot since the new anime isn't likely to touch on anything specific to the earlier anime.

Just generally speaking about Allen's character, it's hard to say how Allen would react if the Yeeger thing were canon...

While he was imprisoned, Allen said to Link that he nearly hated the Third Exorcists, seemingly just for agreeing to become part-Akuma. It's hard for me to understand how he could get to that near-hate for people who did a terrible thing to themselves while seeking to help others, and not the people who made that very terrible thing possible while seeking to harm others; but I guess Allen Walker is a complex guy. He's certainly more about the details of what's right in front of him than seeing the larger picture most of the time. (Note that by saying this I'm not defending the idea of Third Exorcists. Just wondering why he doesn't have greater animosity toward Noahs.)

Just as you said, Allen doesn't see the big picture of the war. He doesn't want to know if 3rd Exorcist is actually helpful in the war or not, he just cares about 2 things:

1- They became half-Akuma on their free will: While there are like thousands of poor human souls screaming their heart out because they are trapped inside the Akuma, 3rd Exorcists willed to become one (half-one). It almost feels like you are a health care worker and you see someone wants to get an incurable deathly disease.

2- They wants Akuma to be killed, no matter in what way or what would happen to the soul inside. Tokusha even had to say he was envious with Allen that Allen could see the souls in pain.

But at the end Allen has decided not to hate 3rd Exorcists anymore anyway
