In his fight with Big Mom? It would be a similar way and reason how and why Vegeta turned super sayian in Z. He wants revenge and power. That way Oda can keep up Kid and Luffy's rivalry in Wano that's been developing. What do you guys think of this idea?

surely he should be capable of basic Haki, we know he can already use CoC... are you talking about advanced CoC?

Something like that, a bit different than Luffy's some way. I'd love to see him keep up since they've been developing a rivalry in Wano.

Kidd's narrative role is completely different than Vegeta's and Vegeta's recent power growths are tied to his characterization and his character arc.

He doesn't need to go a different path. If he attains CoCA, which is within his grasp seeing as how he has CoC, he'll have the potential to be among the strongest of the strong that Kaido mentioned.

Unlike the strawhats, Kidd and Killer seem to be the only significant pirates in their crew. It makes their strength even more important. I dont think they'd be as notorious as they are without having the abilities of Haki.

Its actually a common theme across the supernova, all of them have insanely strong captains and in some cases, a few first mates who are stronger... If you extend that to the heart pirates, Law seems so protective of them, it suggests they aren't that strong either.

Kidd definitely has haki. It's nigh impossible to be competitive in the new world even several tiers beneath kidd's...

He definitely has Haki. He was able to tell Luffy was using Haki.

Kid probably just doesn't need to use it often because it's far more efficient using all the metal he can accumulate with his DF. More so, using Haki on his gigantic form would be a waste of Haki.

Pica didn't use Haki in his rock form either probably because it'd be a waste and I'm pretty certain Kid's doing the same. When you can create gigantic bodies out of land and steel... that's an incredible amount of power at one's disposal anyway.

Well said HP....
we often think of Haki as a power scaling thing but its just a weapon of sorts at the end of the day.. i made a similar point about Franky not needing Haki in terms of the narrative and growing in strength, so the same would apply with Kidd... Surely he can use it as DF alone won't help him in every scenario, but his attacks are insanely stong and effective so why use it unless he has to.

I agree that it’s an incredible amount of power already at your disposal.

But when I think about it more, maybe using Haki on such big or huge structures is exhausting too much Haki similar to How Law refers to G4…

We know they have it, but using it in such a way may be counter productive; In how more technical Haki should be used in a fight.

I think you're right, it wastes Haki like Gear 4th, so it isn't worth it unless the Haki is doing things like it does with Luffy's Gear 4th.

I've wondered about that for a while. We have seen luffy use gear 3 barrage type attacks while fully hardened and it didn't seem to particularly drain luffy. While this doesn't involved projecting or imbuing haki it still does involve using hardening on luffy's fists when they are at a point at which they basically dwarf even someone like shirahoshi. So... if luffy can pull that off then it's kinda weird that kidd would struggle with his metal arms and whatnot at least. Unless the implication is that imbuing haki onto other things is much more draining than regular haki use? My assumption with gear 4 at least was that the reason it was so draining was how many things luffy was doing with his haki at once. Constant hardening on his limbs while simultaneously using haki to manipulate his elasticity.

Haki doesnt complement Kidd's fighting style all that much unlike luffy who fights with his own limbs.

I believe that Kidd has basic haki/ hardening but nowhere near Luffy or Zoro for that matter level.

I can however see Killer getting avanced haki in the future.

Law against Kaido, used Busoshoku Koka on the tip of the large rocks he lifted. Kid has never used Haki in his objects metallic, though we shouldn't underestimate his strength. Without Haki, Kid's attacks are strong enough to break Big Mom's arm.

Actually, evidence of Kidd having Haki was shown in the latest chapter. I mean the big reveal was Gear 5th or...Nika. But Kid sensed the same way Sanji, Law, Marco, etc sensed that someone's willpower and might is running wild. He sensed Luffy getting high as fuck on the roof basically. So yeah he got a panel of what seems like him using CoO.
