Discussion Double Agents/Spies

Any arc that somehow connects to Zeref or Zeref himself always have a double agent and/or spy. Almost every double agents are members of Fairy Tail and every double agent (except for Mest) has some kind of connection to Zeref.

Gray - He was a undercover agent to stop Avatar and Operation Purification and to look for the book of END and has a connection to Zeref because of his past and END.
Gajeel - He was sent as a double agent to spy on Raven Tail by Makarov and has a connection to Zeref because of the dragons, Zeref, and Anna's plan to defeat Acnologia.
Mest - He's been infiltrating the magic council as a double agent for more than 9 years and even erased his own memory to get information on the Alvarez Empire.
Ultear- Was a undercover agent for Grimoire Heart in the Magic Council and has connection to Zeref because of Precht/Hades.
Orba - Was sent as a undercover agent to spy on Raven Tail to get information on Fairy Heart and has a connection to Zeref because Orba is Zeref's pet imp.
Silver - He was a mole in Tartaros, allied with them to look for END and destroy demons.
Levy - She was a spy in Avatar and helped the Magic Council to uncover Operation Purification
Jellal/Siegrain - Was a thought projection by Jellal, acted as a mole in the Magic Council while Jellal lingered in the Tower of Heaven.
Angel - Was sent to spy on the Alvarez Empire as a mole.


Thinking back on all of the spies in the past arcs and I noticed a pattern. Arcs that heavy involve Zeref directly or indirectly always have a mole and double agent or undercover agent, with moles revealed as moles first. Those said moles are revealed first is because their job is done and the undercover agents or double agents are more important and have a bigger role then the moles do.
Tower of Heaven arc
Jellel - He was revealed as a mole first.
Urtear - She was revealed as an undercover agent after Jellal was revealed as a mole.
Tartaros arc
Silver - He was revealed to be a mole first.
Mest - He was revealed to be an double agent for Fairy Tail in the last chapter in the Tartaros arc.
Avater arc
Levy - She was revealed to be a mole first.
Gray - He was revealed to be an undercover agent after Lucy was being tortured by Goumon.
Alvarez Empire arc
Angel/Sorano - She was revealed to be a mole first.

All of the double and undercover agents are all from Fiore and most of the double and undercover agents are a member of Fairy Tail.

Possibly no one.This arc is quite different from other arc's.As it is Brandish is playing this part i think we will not see anyone else.

What if in this arc the situation is reversed, where the mole/double agent is working for Zeref and is currently a member of FT? The only one I can think of is Gildartz. He is nowhere to be seen in a war that will most likely destroy FT, he is strong enough to stand on equal grounds as a sprigaan, so what if he is a sprigaan?

I like the sound of this and do you think Larcade could be Gildarts?

Now, when almost all Spriggans 12 made an appearance, I don't really recognize some of them on this silhouette showed by Randi. I think, that Mashima changed design of some of them later.

As for Gildarts, it would be great, if he has joined S12 as a spy, but I don't think so. Why would he beat ST and BP so badly then? That's not FT style, not to say, they went to the battlefield for him and his guild. It's out of character. Him spying for Zeref is even less possible imho. Gildarts knew and saw FH, so why didn't he stole it then and give to Zeref? Or why Zeref himself didn't take it, when all guild members were in Crocus? But who knows, what surprises Mashima prepared for us.

Probably because he didn't want to get discovered just yet, and he had to. If you notice, he didn't beat them "that badly" because no-one got killed and actually they recovered rather fast. It was more of a public humiliation. Although I agree, that's not FT style. That treatement, especially to ladies, he wouldn't tolerate it.

And we're not talking about spying but double agencing, If he's a double agent he doesn't want to favor Zeref, on the contrary. He might've pretended to be anyone unrelated to FT if it turns out to be him.

Zeref didn't take FH back when they were in Crocus because we're talking about different continents and they were probably unaware that FT was "empty". Zeref could've collected it within the 7 years span in which they were trapped in Tenroujima. I guess he was preparing his move thoroughly...

I don't think Gildarts is spy of Alvarez empire.First of all he didn't know anything about FH.Infact he didn't know the name "FH".He knew it by the name "LH". While the Spriggans knew about FH since the year X782.

I think 2 is Irene, 8 is Neinhart and 9 is Larcade. But I think the designs changed.

EDIT: What if Obra is already at the guild?Since after the GMG many people joined FT,right? So what if Obra is there posing as a member? And he's actually a double agent?
