Back to topic, please :amuse

And no insulting or bashing of other series/mangaka or WSJ/Shueisha. Goes for all, not only the ones with edit tags in the posts.

I'm holding out the hope that Komi-sensei's next series will be a mega-hit and then maybe Double Arts will get licenced, the way Zombie Powder got licenced because of Bleach and Gun Blaze West and Busou Renkin got licenced because... well, Watsuki, yo.:XD

and I loved how Elle said basically "I almost wish this journey wouldn't end..." and Kili throws her a thoroughly disgusted look.:amuse

Yeah, that would be awesome, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Still can't believe it's ended though, it had plenty of potential, but kudos to Komi-sensei for giving us a good ending after a rushed axing. Can't wait till Komi's next series is released. :D

So cute! I'm bummed that it ended... but reading it made me smile. I hope it will show up again, some day. I mean we can only hope. *bounces around like an idiot*

Well, THIS is confusing... I went looking for info about Komi-sense's JSQ one-shot, and here is what they've got listed on the official site:
http://jumpsq.shueisha.co.jp/contents/supreme/index.html

Do they normally use the manga-ka's existing artwork to promote the one-shots? Still says it's a new one-shot though. It's possible that the Double Arts art is just a placeholder until they get the actual art.

It's just that cover art from a while back. It's just a place holder.

I'm more interested if there's an announcement or sort in the December SQ. Hopefully there will be one.

And yeah, I believe that's a placeholder too, or if it's a permanent one, DA is still the manga that make the mangaka recognizable.

Well it's possible that the one shot is a bonus or conclusion chapter, or even just a related spin off, like the yushagaku one, or even what seemed to be a muhyo spin off a few months back.

If I remember correctly they pulled something similar for the JSQ one-shot by the Hatsukoi Limited mangaka a while back, and it turned out to be not related to Hatsukoi at all. (except for the ecchi):XD

I get JSQ regularly anyway, so I'm going to be scanning/Editing Komi-sensei's one-shot, whatever it is. Any translators willing to step up for it? Cos you do NOT want to read my kindergarten Japanese translation:p

Anyhoo, now that I look back at the last few chapters I can kind of see some warning signs. Elle getting a sexier(for Elle;) ) new outfit was one... the introduction of the surviving Gazelle and setting off on their "mysterious" mission was another. I suspect that Sister Hine MIGHT have been a ploy to create some interest/controversy ("is this going to be a harem manga?!") - and that by NOT going the harem route, Komi-sensei might actually have lost some points with the Jump readers.

I was actually being serious, November referring to the JSQ one-shot. though now I think about it, we might start seeing stuff in October... and the second tanko is coming out in the first week of October so there's hopefully new DA omake to look forward to.

...maybe this thread should be subtitled "Everything by Komi Naoshi":XD

Whoever made the thread should change the title to "Double Arts mourning/Komi One-shot" discussion. I was going to make a comic that had Kiri and Elle's pictures on the twin towers and then a plane with Jump editors written on it crash into them, but I was too lazy. =P

Reading the latest gintama chapter, this might be relevant to DArts, maybe... possibly... don't know xD

Gintoki: Listen up, nowadays friendship, effort, and victory don't go anywhere. That's a slogan that jump came up with more than 10 years ago, in an age long past. It's dead now, just like a lot of decent manga are.

Shinpachi: Old manga don't die! they just get special chapters in Jump Square!

Gintoki: Training arcs are a dime a dozen. Any creator still using them needs to knock it off. No one remembers the training after you get the super loud super flashy special move. It's why new manga come in and out so often. In the end, we should stay out of that territory.

This just reminded me of DArts, lots. *sniff*
This brought up more hope for special chappies, but still makes me sad for it to be canceled on such a dumb not =( (in case this really relates to DArts too)

That is amazing, lol :rofl

Kinda scary how much it fits the situation with DArts ^^;

(In case you don't know, Gintama is an AWESOME comedy/parody manga running in WSJ. The main character is a passionate Jump reader and a cool Samurai to boot - so if you haven't checked it yet, give it a try. The anime is very recommendable too :p)

Perhaps Sorachi had a poignant message after having another jump artist walk through the revolving doors of jump :O

Well sorachi is kinda right

Older jump manga like saint seiya, dragonball,... were excellent in training chapters. Training was so important in those shounen manga. Training was tasted and didn't affect the manga in a negative way, better it affected the manga storywise in a positve way. What do we get now with recent shounen: training is almost 0% and if so, it's so short, meaningless or just a prelude that'll have its effect through a real battle...

Since this is a DA topic, it's kinda possible he's talking about DA then again we must be honest. DA could have ended/cancelled with a training chapter but the training just started for like 2-3 chapters when it was near dying. Sorachi is right. A manga can be decent to good but if you don't follow the trends then doing something like old good manga doesn't necessarily mean it'll work out.

I like training chapters a lot, imo they are always the best but then again I grow up watching anime (adaptation of older manga) where training was important. But that doesn't count anymore, we aren't (at least i am not ;)) shounen anymore ;)
