Well everyone says that Naruto is heavily influenced by Dragon Ball. And us DB fans don't mind it too much. I don't at least.
I am going to point out some similarities that may have gone unnoticed.
Note: I am not trying to troll Kishimoto or Naruto, I'm just pointing it out so all the DB fans can see the resemblance.
1. Naruto/Goku's Love For Food.
This is a small comparison I just thought it was worth mentioning.
2. Jiraiya/Master Roshi Similarity.
Jiraiya trained Naruto as his Sensei, Master Roshi trained Goku as his sensei. Jiraiya gave Naruto the Rasengan, Roshi gave Goku the Kamehameha. Both of them are also funny perv's. Both have been shown pipe-smoking. Jiraiya is a master of toads, Roshi, a master of hermits.
3. Orochimaru/Crane Hermit Similarity.
Jiraiya lost his rival, Orochimaru, to power and darkness. Master Roshi stated that he lost his rival, Crane Hermit, to power in the fight against king Piccolo. Both comrades taken by darkness.
4. Sage Mode Eyes/ SSJ4 Eyes.
This is a small similarity that is easily over looked.
5. Lightning Release Armor/SSJ Aura.
Again, this is a very simple one. But this one is way more obvious.
6. Judgement Similarities.
Now this one is very interesting. (Regarding one of Pain's paths) The Naraka path's ability was to summon a demon (the king of hell), Yama, and Yama would decide to judge you by pulling your tongue. Whether or not you pass Judgement affects the outcome of your life. Now in DB King Yama is a character called the "Judge of the Dead" after a character passes away.
7. Flying Thunder God/Instant Transmission Similarity.
Well these aren't the exact same thing, but the idea is similar.
8. Bulma/Sakura Similarity.
Very, very similar. Both start out completely useless and self-centered but they both mature.
9. Vegeta/Sasuke Reverse Similarity.
Well they are similar, just reversed. Vegeta turned good, from evil. And Sasuke turned evil, from good. But the similar part is that they both love revenge. Sasuke's clan was wiped out among the Uchiha Massacre and Vegeta's family was wiped out among the destruction of Plant Vegeta.
10. Destructo Disc/Wind Style: Rasenshuriken.
This one isn't about power or looks necessarily. Its about the stance.
11. Kishimoto's Actual Reference
Well Kishi has stated that he was a big fan of DB. He even drew a mask of Chiaotzu in a rack of masks Naruto was trying on. Krillin's mask is also in the right of the picture. This was a comic in his manga.
So these are the best similarities i can think of. Credit also goes to Naiteki Kensei Forums and Naruto Realm.
DB and Naruto are among my top 5 favorite manga and I deeply enjoy both.
The fact that Naruto is similar to DB shouldn't be a bad thing, a LOT of Shonen Jump manga writers are influenced by DB (i mean who wouldn't?).
