Hey guys, I know originally it was said that 2nd generation Dragon slayers had to enter their dragon force to use their best DS techniques. (Laxus when he used FL and faced off Natsu, Cobra's arms during his whole first fight with Natsu.) Has that been retconned in some way. Cause I am consistently seeing people mention them as the only generation without DF, when we've seen evidence to the contrary.

They can never have true Dragon Force because their DS magic comes from a 3rd party. They have no connections to Dragons themselves.

They just have the lacrima.

They don't have DF.

This is just a misconception among some of the fans that they have DF.

Their technique is very similar to Gajeel eating iron and gaining scales against his fight against Natsu in the phantom arc.

How? The scales are specific to a technique of the Iron Dragon. Was there a DOG that gave the new information? Cause I haven't heard that explanation anywhere.

So there is no explanation for why they have the Dragon scales when they use their DS magic. That's interesting. It seems like it's something that's just accepted now, but I definitely missed when that happened.

I prefer to think that they dont have scales like DF, but more like element aura. Natsu has his fire over his body most of time. Gajeel - iron skin as aura. Cobra - snake skin. So Laxus has really light version of scales without any visual specific with some lightning. So its not a mode, but more a magic release. Yeah, DF is also a magic release, but just a really high version

That isn't what we see though. Laxus and Cobra both exhibit the regular Dragon scalr Laxus has the scales they only get in Dragon Force. https://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/124/14 Now it was that second generation always went into that to access their DS magic, and while we see a change with Laxus, who as the series progresses uses less slayer spells, and even named lightning spells. He beat Wahl with a regular lightning mage spell, not DS magic. We see Cobra transforming all the way through the final battle.
