It's part of his approach, I think. Natsu was kind of baked in as having very simple and defined motivations. Which was part of his charm but it always stunted him in some ways. He was built similarly to Luffy in a lot of ways. They're both built without much room for growth.

Making a lot of friends is actually a much more complex and varied motivation. So I think there is a lot more room to play with romantic stuff. If he's going to be pursing that many friendships it would absolutely make sense for some of those to have romantic undertones. Even if it was just the Juvia X Grey kind of thing it would be a huge step for Mashima to do anything like that with a main character.

I guess Natsu was mostly supposed to be that kind of more simple main character like Goku, Luffy and Asta in Black Clover for example.
I love Natsu and he and Lucy are some of my favorite characters ever but yea some more development and change for Natsu could have been nice and hopefully Shiki will get way more of that.
Well with Goku and Luffy except that they get stronger and get new powers they are exactly the same as they have always been i think and most people dont seem to have much of a problem with that and still love those characters so its not like a character must be more complex to be awesome and very cool, charming, fun and lovable.
Goku is the same as he was in the beginning of Dragon Ball Z and Luffy is the same as he was in the beginning of the series.
And no Ace dying did not really change Luffy as a character it just made him wanna get stronger so he could protect his friends and Natsu did the same thing after Igneel died.

Yeah, I don't want to knock that either. That kind of character does have a place. That's why there are so many of them.

I just think that what Mashima started to do toward the end of Fairy Tail with Juvia X Grey and Gejeel X Levy. That showed that, unlike some shounen authors that shall remain nameless, he actually can do it effectively. And not just pairing everybody randomly whether or not it makes sense for their characters arcs like other famous shounen authors that shall remain nameless.

She looks similar to Wendy yea but so far she seems to have a very different personality.

In the works of Mashima, if not bad memory, outside the Endless (and hypothetically Ankhseram), there is no being of planetary or stellar, therefore "Mother" would be the second (or third if we count the god Ankseram) with that level or at least that position, Acnologia if it was a threat for planets, but not a planetary destroyer, he was rather that unstoppable threat to the common inhabitants of the world, the name of the Dragon of the Apocalypse suited him, since it is seen that his representation is based on the Dragon that appears in the book of revelations, not a being that blows the planet in one blow, but dethrgs a part of the entire population of the same to purify the Earth.

I see that this "Mother" is an entity very similar to Kismet DC Comics and is a kind of Goddess.

Lavilia has a touch to Wendy at the beginning but in the last image it looks very different and it is seen that in character, attitude, and even points of view it is totally opposite. I imagine that she can be a kind of rival or friend of Rebecca, of those who make a life of squares, and from what I see she could be Rebecca's Gray.

Only if it went out of control and was not like something Dragon Ball style, but more gradual, after all, the power to destroy worlds does not necessarily mean flying them, but leaving them uninhabited also counts.
