Yeah Mother reminds me of Marvel large Cosmic Beings

A lot of things about Edens Zero are reminding me of Jack Kerby type stuff. Which is the origin of that whole cosmic side of Marvel Comics. I'm totally down for that.

I wonder if he's a huge Jack Kerby fan for if it's just an accidental thing.

That was probably just supposed to be another nod to Fairy Tail just like the character cameos in the background so no there is probably no Fairy Tail manga in the Edens Zero world.
There can still be crossovers with Rave Master and Fairy Tail or even a mashima verse in the future.

Erza did lose a few fights in Fairy Tail actually.
She lost against Joze the master of the Phantom Lord guild and she lost against Cobra.
I think she lost one or two more but i cant remember at the moment.
Anyway she did not win all her fights like many people seems to think.

She had taken a jupiter canon attack when she faced jose and actually hadn't lost yet. With cibra it was a sneak attack and poison.

She's never lost a 'fair' fight.

Dont the villains try to poison the heros or take them by surprise or use other unfair and evil ways to win all the time in these mangas?
Like if Sasori would have won against Sakura in Naruto for example would it not have counted because he used poison?

Anyway im looking forward to met the doctor that fixed Happy in the next chapter and Shiki and Rebecca where going to find other crew mates to help find mother so the blond guy and the other characters on that image that we have not seen yet could appear soon.

The chapter was freaking good. It introduces some new characters, the comedy was gold, they have a mission besides getting 100 friends and Mil subscribers, and the mystery about Space Goddess gets more mysterious.

Rebecca and Happy are honestly my spirit animals.

The references were on point. And hoho Lavilla you don't mess with Rebecca unless you want to incur the wrath of Shiki.

Clarissa is cute and funny with her little crybaby schtick.

Mother is a bigger than a star... we about to fight female living tribunal out in this b***h.

This manga is getting better and better, and really is becoming distinguished from Fairy Tail.

On another point I wouldn't count Mashimaverse out just yet. Their have been comics about other verses within another verse ex. DC verse have Spiderman comics or X-Men have their own comics within their own verse. Nothing is set in stone and anything can still happen so I wouldn't count the theory as a dead one just yet.

I have finally realized what rave master, fairy tail, and now Eden´s Zero, make me feel like.

They make me feel like I am watching the same bunch of friends play different RPGs.

Which I think makes for a fine experience in case you like Hiro´s art/writing.

Because theres a level of familiarity that is to be expected, while we still get to know a new world.


I like that we are just on chapter 3 and yet there are so many mysteries set up

What is "The Dark Ages?"


Who is "Mother"? And whats "Her relationship with Shiki"?

How the Demon King got Shiki? He clearly knew Shiki was destinated to more.

What are the Dragons? (Maybe just advanced spaceships, but since one passed trough mother, there maybe more to them)

Do demons exist in this world? Since we do have a Demon King robot, and a mention of becoming a Demon by mother (could be metaphorical, but..)

How is Ether Gear a "Dark Age" stuff but regular Ether (like the card in this ep) is not?

And all of those contribute to make us feel wonder, and want to know more about the world. Which, is what the Main characters have to do in order to meet more friends, have subscribers, and know mother.
To have the reader feel what the character is feeling trough worldbuilding alone is a good characterstic to have as an author

There's a difference between ambush (by way of a trap set up by another antagonist and several others) vs a clear character in the midst of battle with one's guard fully up.

Well it still counts that she lost to me.
And i cant exactly remember at the moment but im sure she lost one or two more times in the series.

I think Elcy Crimson and her crew are going to be the first strong villains that Shiki and Rebecca must defeat like Zabuza and Haku in Naruto and Buggy in One Piece for example.
I hope Shiki and the others will find some crew members before that and maybe the old man can fight too.

I wonder if the new spaceship they are going to get is going to be this series Thousand Sunny and they are going to get crew members similar to the Straw Hat pirates in One Piece.
Would be really cool.
Like maybe the ship is going to be there main base and not the guild.

And maybe whoever or whatever it as that killed the planet the old doctor lives on could be a future powerful villain.

Big Mom naturally but also just the style of these planets. And the gold dragon space ship. And the, "it's in space, but only kinda" mechanics of everything. Like Kerby's cosmic stuff wasn't really sci-fi as we think of it now. It's this more imaginative thing with it's own rules and tons of huge vivid things everywhere but somehow the distances between everything never seemed quite as far.

To be honest, even I'm not 100% sure what I'm talking about here.

There is just something about Eden's Zero that feels less to me like sci-fi and more "cosmic". And I associate that with Kerby.

Like if anybody has seen Thor Ragnarok that's done in the Jack Kerby style. And that's kinda what Mashima is doing here, IMO.

I'm feeling this series and its only been 3 chapters.

Rebecca having a rival tuber who has the opposite personality as her and is arrogant because of her fame. Lavilla is a representation of YouTubers who get too haughty and act disrespectful towards there fanbases. Now she wants shiki UI n her video but that seems like a subplot right now.

Shiki supposedly having seen Mother in the past to me hints at 2 possibilities

1) she appeared to him In a dream and he doesn't remember
2) he already saw her face to face as a little boy but can't remember.

Finding mother might be a long term goal that'll effect his path of becoming a villian or a hero since she sees that fate for him.
It should be a major piece of his legacy later. Its also interesting that rebecca has to upgrade her ship which requires her to travel. That builds up more world building.

But what takes the chapter for me is the approach that hiro is taking friendship in with a shounen. Shiki represents a optimistic person who has a pure heart and desires that friendship with everyone because of his home star and the robots.
If course granbell is different.

But these 2 pages were not only pretty funny to me but it shows a more realistic approach to friendship.

Hiro is essentially showing the ups and downs of a extremist optimistic like shiki. Soon he'll have to be leveled out as he gains character development to understand what that word really means. This series, if written well, can have more mature over time with the plot and the characters. That is what excites me and something that ft didn't show well imo.

- Here the Adventurer's Guild is more like an employment office than the guilds of FT or the Isekai, since not everyone gets along
-Clarisse is like Mirajane only more moaning and something Nerd, but you see that she appreciates Rebecca and Happy
-It is affirmed that "Mother" is as big as a star or more.
-Shiki says he knows her in some way and that makes him laugh at him.
-Rebecca sees that it bothers her having to remind her that not everyone will want to be their friend
-Lavilia is Rebecca's rival and you can see that both have mutual animation, more because Lavilia is more popular.
-Shiki floated Lavillia for the anger of making Rebecca cry and this whip pure because Rebecca took Shiki, although it seems that it gave Lavilia a taste for Shiki.
-The Plue are here waiters and you see that Happy hates them or fears them in a certain way.

-Shiki thought the guilds were places like family, but Rebecca tells her that it was only in a manga.

It is seen that a meeting of companions for the trip will come so I explain Rebecca that they needed a bigger ship and a crew, in part it reminded me a bit of Star Wars and Mother reminds me a lot of Kismet. I imagine that the FT cameos are part of the preparation for the sequel

Same here since my money is on Shiki to beat Elisa in a fight.

If crimson loses that will be a start a differentiation between erza and her .Granted erza lost before in ft like others have said but its a start.
But I'm already getting vibes that she's a complete opposite from erza. Serious, cutthroat, blunt, etc.

When down the line in the story, if she's a character that needs to understand what bonds are, l hope she doesn't become a erza 2.0 down the line.

Mashima has been very inspired by DC Comics (Zeref's plan was inspired by the Parallax Plan)

If Mashima creates a Mashimaverse it could be like in the encounter of Earth 1 with Earth 2 where the characters of Earth 2 were part of a fictional universe of Earth 1, that is Comics


So something similar would not be impossible.

Mashima is not really trying to make a Sci fi story with this manga, is just another fantasy story with a space setting, I mean, so far the technology that has been shown in this series is more like "space magic" than something that you would see in a sci fi story where those kind o things are explained with in universe cience.
Is like some JRPG, where they combine magic and technology, like XenoGears or Final Fantasy.

Honestly I don't see the elements that are similar to those of Jack Kirby, the space entitys nowadays are something that many authors use in their stories
