Gawain is that little fairy guy though, isn't he  ? I find it weird that he'd be connected to Escanor at this point

Gawain was just the name the spoiler writer gave to the fairy (the one in NnT) due to his resemblance with the Gawain in Nakaba's previous work (Rising Impact).

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up. It's possible doe, right ? However another Gawain would probably be more interesting in the story. Maybe be part of Escanor's backstory or something.

This was a great chapter and finale to this little arc.

Deep down, the "two" Escanor's are the same, with their love for Merlin being a clear connection. I'm pretty sure that link is going to be the key in him "controlling" his second half. While that link is shared, the difference between the two is literally night and day. Which bring me to Merlin's comment this chapter. Which Escanor is the true Escanor? Was he cursed with his strong form? Or, was he actually cursed with his weak form? It's most likely the former, but it's something to be considered. His backstory will be interesting. Curious as to how he'll look when it's noon.

"Sunshine" is an interesting ability. The heat is an aspect of course, but Merlin's comment about it being the source of life is also and interesting idea. Vampires are undead being, so we could look at the Vampire King in this chapter being destroyed by "Life". Also interesting that it was compared to the Demon's Purgatory Fire. If Escanor truly was cursed by the Goddess Clan, then the Goddesses and the Demons might be two sides of the same coin, despite their apparent dislike of each other. I wonder who truly started this war.

The rest of the chapter wasn't as interesting, but interesting points were brought up. We have another case of a demon in "love" or, at the very least, showing emotions and attachment.

You can find the original version somewhere in a link given here.

And there are no rhymes either, other than the word 色 (color) which reads the same (iro) in both lines.

You bring a good point with the Goddess clan and the demons being two faces of the same coin. What if the demons were fallen from the Goddess clan, or rebelled, kinda like how demons are fallen angels in Christianity? They sure show that they have more emotions than we could think, so what if it's the Goddess clan who are unable to feel any emotions? :XD It sure looks like they might not be as good as we thought, and if they're the ones who cursed Escanor then maybe they are cruel, since apparently he was born with this curse.
For me the curse is having Escanor become weak, not the other way around.Sure his day form is a bit extreme, but it seemed to me that he was more conscious of what he was doing, and it truly embodied the sin of pride as we could imagine him to be. But it could be that the curse is just having him switch between two forms all the time, which I think could have an effect on his psyche or even his life expectancy.
I just like what Nakaba did with his character, and now I understand why he had to be introduced last.

I know this likely doesn't actually mean anything, but does anyone else think the wound Escanor inflicted upon Izraf looks a lot like the wound the grey demon had?

It's similar indeed but anyone with enough strength could do it with a weapon. I think that if Escanor had been the one to kill it, he would have completely burnt the body, there are also timeline issues and the fact that he would have revealed this to no one.

Some time ago I theorized it might have been escanor who took down the grey demon to begin with... I think at the time we already knew what his weapon was which seemed like it could fit and realistically speaking there shouldn't be that many people with the sheer power to deal with demons at all, specially one stronger than a grey demon. Also worth considering is how the damage of the wound persisted even though the vampire king healed. We can make the case that escanor could have an ideal weapon to deal lasting damage to demons who can regenerate, perhaps even to a lesser extent than vampires. Its weird that a simple slash would kill the grey demon to begin with considering their ability to regenerate, specially if it compares to what hendrickson did as a red. Escanor meets all the criteria to be able to deal with a demon, from the power to the ability to cause lasting damage.

While I do agree that theoretically anyone could do it, I was just making the connection.

As for the timeline, Hendrickson only says they found they grey demon a few years ago. Escanor could have taken it down AFTER the sins split up, with it having just shown up one day like the red demon did years before.

Nah, Escanor is too prideful to leave a corpse. He would have obliterated it into nothing.

Hmm, the Gray Demon gave Hendricksen a PL of 5500, it's not something Dreyfus or Hendrickson would have not noticed, they would have sensed Escanor's power during the battle too. Escanor also doesn't control his power so it's even easier to notice him.

Depends on how far away they were when they fought. Its not like their power sensing ability covers the entire world, at most, we have seen it work for a few miles.

And even then, someone like Galan was able to jump on over to the Sins in Camelot without anyone noticing, showing its not particularly hard to not be noticed, even with a power level of 26k.

The part of the chapter that kinda got to me is meliodas reminiscing about zeldris. You can tell meliodas cares about the guy which makes sense. I would expect zeldris and estarossa to still care even if they are pissed of at him. I wonder how exactly melidoas is alive though... It does seem like he is a demon, which only mkaes his current existence weirder. Its kinda weird that melidoas right now seems to be an enemy of the goddess clan and the demon clan... Why did he choose to use that power to kill the vampire? I guess it could have been to honor her somehow...

Funny how zeldris already got to the spot where she died. And zeldris didn't even know that was her tomb. I am expecting melidoas to find out about this.

Another interesting thing in the chapter is how the demon clan seems to have had their own allies in the war. Its not just a situation of the demon clan vs the all the other clans. Depending on how many allies the demons had its plausible the goddess clan will end up being about as strong as the demon clan. Maybe we will learn about other allies they had in the past... their side could be made out of more traditional monsters... werewolf clan, sucubus clan, troll clan, who knows...

He ended her suffering because he thought that the demons wouldn't get out of their seal. I don't think it's a coincidence that Mel is one of the few demons free and who happens to have the dragon handle. My theory is that he betrayed his brethren and helped seal them, so that's why they hate him. On the other hand the Goddess clan could hate all demons, regardless if they're good or not. So that's why they wanted him dead, that and maybe they don't like how close he is to the Apostle of the Goddess. Another theory would be that he didn't get sealed with the others and stole the dragon handle so that's why the Goddess clan want him dead. But he says that he's the bad older brother, so he prolly wronged the other demons, so right now I think that he betrayed them.
I expected the vampires to be allies with the demons at some point, because of their affinities I guess. Vampires are creatures of the night, and they feed on humans so there's no way they would ally with humans. But Izraf is such an idiot for rebelling against the demons, period. According to him only the flames of the purgatory could have such an effect like Escanor's sunshine, so clearly the vampires are weaker, and should have been vassals to the demons. Yeah I'd like to see other species be allies with the demons, like the trolls, ogres etc, if the manga has these.

There are trolls, the Sins were coming back from killing the troll queen when they found Zataras dead.

And when Merlin was teleraping Vivian, she was transported into what looked like a group of trolls for a moment.

True, that was one of the things that piqued my interest. If the demon clan only had tge vampires as allies, then there would be need for a 'public' execution. On the other hand, if the demons are already this powerful and had a number of allies, how the hell did they lose?
Maybe the goddesses are really as powerful as the demons. That'll be quite something.
