There are trolls, the Sins were coming back from killing the troll queen when they found Zataras dead.

And when Merlin was teleraping Vivian, she was transported into what looked like a group of trolls for a moment.
Yeah I remember now when Zaratras was killed they were talking about the Troll queen.
Well if the demons had allies, it means that the Goddess clan should be just as powerful as them, and we've had a taste of that with Eli.
So both sides could have been somehow equal in power, but the Goddess sealed the demons prolly because they were unable to kill them.

yeah it seems so. 4 races had to unite to beat the demons.

Also is it just me or is Merlin the Mom of the sins? I mean the three strongest are Meliodas, Escanor, and herself. Those three have the most secrets as of this moment, and she teleported everyone else away before they could see what Meliodas and Escanor were about to do. and when Escanor is passing out from the amplified blackout arrow, Merlin doesn't have her suspicious smile, she actually looks kind of neutral/sad?

Well she didn't want them to see Escanor going rampage but what she wanted to hide the most was Meliodas power. Nakaba just tell us already what she took from Meliodas :D Here Meliodas could easily control his powers so why the hell he cant do that now.

I wonder if there'll be someone with a "moonlight" abilitiy, the stronger the moon shines, the stronger the person gets (opposite to esca)
Now I really want him to join the others very fast...

also damn vampires now I want to play skyrim again...

There probably is an ability like this, but I think that's going to too great a length to create an opposition for Escanor. His Sunshine ability fully countered that of the Vampire King's darkness, so I'd say that would be enough in terms of contrasting abilities on that front.

I really loved the poem Escanor wrote for Merlin and how he took great pride in defending its validity to Izraf.

Maybe the goddesses are really as powerful as the demons. That'll be quite something.
I would say it lay more in how effective their powers are against demons, again I refer to Elizabeth pushing back Hendrickson. She's clearly far less refined than himself in using her powers but it was enough to damage him a bit, when nothing at that point could do so. I think it may be the case for every other clan affiliated with the demon clan. The goddess' likely had powers that were toxic to the demons and their allies.

That said one huge issue I think with the goddess' is that they don't appear to have bodies of their own? I mean if the druids are able to channel them, including the Apostles, I wonder if that means they need mediums to manifest. Given that they only do so with a select clan, and one which is closed off based from Merlin's own comments, I can understand them lacking in quantity enough to single handedly deal with the demons (it balances them out).

That could be it. I wonder if it works vice-versa too. The goddesses can probably heal themselves too (like Liz) but Demon wounds usually don't heal when inflicted (going by ban). It would be quite interesting to see how their power interacts with each other.

About their forms, I thought they said they didn't have enough power to manifest physically at the time? It seems like repercussions of the war that happened 3,000 years ago. Every side involved seemed to have suffered heavy damages and I think that's the case with the goddesses here.

I wonder that since Druids based on the relief on the seal appear to have existed since 3000 years ago, so we know at least they've served under the goddess that far back but the only thing that seems to distinguish these druids is that they blessed with the ability to heal and favored by the goddess (with Apostles among their people). So I do think that the practice of being a medium for goddess may have been around for a much longer period.

I remember when Ban talked in the horn of Cernunnos with the "goddesses", they said their power is depleted as well as a result of the war with the demons. I don't think the druids can channel the goddesses, that would just make them more powerful and the goddesses weaker. Plus when we talk about an apostle it usually has the meaning of a follower, like the apostles in the Bible, so maybe the apostle of the Goddess was given power by the goddesses to protect the druids and humans in general, not that they would manifest through her.It would also suggest that there is more than one apostle of the goddesses which I find very unlikely .But who knows maybe the goddesses don't have a physical body to begin with, and they exist on the astral plane or something and they need bodies to manifest in the real world, but not the apostle of the goddesses obviously.

I assume they are mediums because Hendrickson calls them that:

A medium is usually someone who interacts between the human world and the spiritual one. If we're going to apply this to the manga, it would be that Eli could interact with the Goddesses. What you're basically saying is that she could become the physical body of the Goddesses. Not only that would be strange, considering that the Goddesses could have used her body anytime during the fight with Hendrickson, which didn't happen, but also there's prolly more than just one goddess, so I fail to see how all those goddesses will have a body, if there is only one Apostle of the goddesses. Rather I think the goddesses have their own body, but since the holy war they lost a lot of their power, just like the demons, so they lost the ability to materialize it, albeit temporarily. This also shows how much the Goddesses could be weaker, since even though they won the war they still sustained a lot of damage, whereas the demons lost their power due to the seal.

Well considering that the only real detail we have right now about them is that they use a medium, which is straight forward enough to define and rather self-explanatory. I'm not really going to jump to any conclusions other than Elizabeth can somehow channel their power. Whether they can forcefully use Elizabeth's body is something we've yet to see. However, seeing as she hasn't exactly gained any form of mastery to her own abilities, and has so far only done what she's done unconsciously at the spur of the moment, it is hard to say to what extent Elizabeth being a medium can accomplish as I think we've only seen such a small fraction - but if being a medium implies anything then it would be that yes they can be the vessel of a goddess.

As for why they didn't try to possess Elizabeth to destroy Hendrickson is like asking why didn't they as goddess' order Ban to also kill Hendrickson who carries with him demon blood and is attempting to break the seal of the demons. For some reason or another the goddess' clearly have ignored Hendrickson altogether and are more preoccupied with Melodias, if we go by their kill order. Or the goddess didn't really care for Hendrickson since the seal placed on the demon clan is booby trapped, hence no effort required on their part, whereas Melodias would take more than the trap to be eliminated.

I'm not interested so much in whether they have their own body or not but that the druids, specifically one dubbed an "Apostle", can act as a medium and can unleash powers of a goddess, which as I've said earlier is likely very effective against demons and their allies.

Edit: I don't think it is necessarily a contradiction for goddess' to make use a medium in so much that they are capable of existing without a physical body, based on what has been said. Meaning it would likely be much easier for them to communicate or act via a medium than to put any burden on their own bodies, so even if they had a physical form it wouldn't change the function due to utility.

I think that's pretty straightforward. If indeed the one speaking is a member of the Goddess clan then when they fought against the demons they exhausted their power and they needed 3000 years or more to regain it. Losing their physical bodies seems to be the most obvious side effect. As for the Apostle of the goddesses nothing is explained about her, other than her coming from the druids and being able to heal other people but not herself. A medium doesn't necessarily mean he can channel the power of the Gods, rather he can see them, talk to them and even be bestowed powers fitting for that role. I do not think she could take control of the goddesses, but it's possible the goddesses could possess a person, regardless of whether it's the apostle of the goddesses or not.We even have a previous case of possession, although it is performed by a demon. Anyway there's too little info about them to conclude anything, and I'm pretty sure this is offtopic, since the goddesses weren't mentioned in this special, so I'm gonna end it on this note.

Like I said them having a body is irrelevant to the fact that they have representative or a potential vessel or whatever capable of using powers of a goddess, to what extent remains to be seen. If this is to be explored, which is kinda moot, is whether or not such a role existed 3000 years ago, but we know for a fact that Druids have existed since then and appear to be blessed by the goddess'. But just to clarify Elizabeth can heal herself, but as Merlin explained her nature hinders her from doing so innately (unless coaxed as seen with Melodias).

And it wasn't really that off topic since we were just toying with the idea as to whether their powers would likely also have adverse effects on creatures like vampires, since we've seen it work against a demon which appears to be a more superior race. I don't think it is power in so much as it is just effective, making up for any gap.

I explained why I find the idea of the Goddesses using Eli's body very unlikely, not just because of Hendrickson. If what you assume is right, then shouldn't that mean that they could have used Elizabeth at any point to kill Meliodas? If they could interfere with humans in such a way, then they wouldn't have sent Ban to kill Mel, who btw is far from being able to achieve something like that. Killing Mel was way out of his league imo. Elizabeth's power on the other hand was powerful enough to deal quite some damage to Hendrickson even though she hasn't awakened her full power. Now imagine if a goddess could take control of her body temporarily. Plus I'm pretty sure Mel wouldn't have fought back if it was Eli.
The druids seem to be special to begin with, they revered the Goddess and nature so it's only natural they could have been blessed with such powers. It would be interesting to see other clans who could have had some advantages depending on whether they were close to the Goddesses or the demons. The goddesses shouldn't have too much problem to take out vampires who are clearly lesser threats than the demons.
On the other hand I'm more interested in the origin of Escanor's power, if the Goddesses were the one who blessed him(or cursed him) with such power. I think so seeeing how it's effective against vampires, and could be even effective against demons.
Well there is only one way to be sure....make him fight Galan, Nakaba!

I wonder if King and Mel are gonna understand each other more, as they both feel like failures as older siblings. :emocat

I just noticed something odd about the vampire clan. None of them were really using any weapons. Even those that seemed to have weapons kinda looked like they were just using modified body parts. Event he vampire king for the most part just relied on his darkness ability and physical combat. I wonder why is it that vampires would be able to fight without weapons when every other race we have seen actually needs weapons to release their full power. Well, not all of them seem to have it so perhaps in their case it is a matter of preference. Even then though, I wonder what would it be that causes some to need weapons while others don't....

Also, didn't a kingdom disappear during this events? It kinda feels like this tiny genocide was downplayed significantly.

Well the vampires had already practically done away with it. Majority were killed and the others were turned into vampires iirc, so there was really nothing to change. Plus Izraf and his goons had made what seemed to be irreparable fundamental changes to the general structure and it didn't seem like much could be done about that. Then again, the sins apparently went overboard when they killed the troll queen so perhaps it was just overlooked. Doesn't look like anything could have been salvaged though.

Hmm do the demons really use weapons to enhance their powers like the sins? We don't know that actually. The use of weapons could just depend on the fighting style of each member. For example the mask cloud doesn't seem like he would use a weapon. Maybe it's the same for vampires. Actually vampires could have their own arsenal like tentacles but then again it's weird they don't even use a weapon in the traditional sense. Maybe their weapons were taken from them by Zeldris when he sealed them, similar to how some of the sins lost their STs....
But that doesn't prove that they could have won in the end, I think that maybe they could have resisted a bit more.

That is pretty much what I meant when I said it could be a matter of preference. For example, zeldris has a sword but he does not need it to be able to draw his power out, he simply is a swordsman. Still though, why the difference? We have seen meliodas, diane and ban fight without a weapon and due to that we know that what they can do without weapon is worthless for the most part. Without weapons they can barely stand up to an above average knight. I mean, we saw 3 of them against guila and they couldn't land a hit. Meliodas does not like killing people but even then him, let alone diane and ban, had never hesitated to beat holy knights half to death for daring to stand up to them. Ban killed the holy knight who captured him basically for the lolz considering there are absolutely no grounds under which a revenge on ban's part is even remotely justified even if the holy knight in question was evil. Ban allowed himself to be captured and tortured after all.

There are at least quite a few commandments who don't seem to carry weapons. Estarrosa, the 3 girls, the guy with multiple arms, the black mass with the masks... Of course, power levels which I would guess would be between 30 and 50 k could defeat a ST armed sin easily even if they needed decent weapons to draw out their power. The first holy knights we saw probably had power in between the 300 and 800 range and the sins easily won... Right now the situation seem to be that the sins have at most 10% of the total raw power of the commandments. And the idea that they could use the extent of their power without the need of weapons is terrifying. Even when meliodas was transforming against helbram it kinda seemed like he was in need of a weapon. To me it kinda looked like he displayed more power with liz's sword during the kngdom invasion arc...

I am not sure if fairies need weapons or not at this point. King is in a murky area considering his weapon is a piece of the sacred tree. Helbram used a sword along with the sacred tree. 200 years ago when king originally killed helbram he did not have a weapon. And at the time he had already been the deterrent to war against entire kingdoms. recently we saw some fairies using twigs and stuff against the albion too.
