That is pretty much what I meant when I said it could be a matter of preference. For example, zeldris has a sword but he does not need it to be able to draw his power out, he simply is a swordsman. Still though, why the difference? We have seen meliodas, diane and ban fight without a weapon and due to that we know that what they can do without weapon is worthless for the most part. Without weapons they can barely stand up to an above average knight. I mean, we saw 3 of them against guila and they couldn't land a hit. Meliodas does not like killing people but even then him, let alone diane and ban, had never hesitated to beat holy knights half to death for daring to stand up to them. Ban killed the holy knight who captured him basically for the lolz considering there are absolutely no grounds under which a revenge on ban's part is even remotely justified even if the holy knight in question was evil. Ban allowed himself to be captured and tortured after all.

There are at least quite a few commandments who don't seem to carry weapons. Estarrosa, the 3 girls, the guy with multiple arms, the black mass with the masks... Of course, power levels which I would guess would be between 30 and 50 k could defeat a ST armed sin easily even if they needed decent weapons to draw out their power. The first holy knights we saw probably had power in between the 300 and 800 range and the sins easily won... Right now the situation seem to be that the sins have at most 10% of the total raw power of the commandments. And the idea that they could use the extent of their power without the need of weapons is terrifying. Even when meliodas was transforming against helbram it kinda seemed like he was in need of a weapon. To me it kinda looked like he displayed more power with liz's sword during the kngdom invasion arc...

I am not sure if fairies need weapons or not at this point. King is in a murky area considering his weapon is a piece of the sacred tree. Helbram used a sword along with the sacred tree. 200 years ago when king originally killed helbram he did not have a weapon. And at the time he had already been the deterrent to war against entire kingdoms. recently we saw some fairies using twigs and stuff against the albion too.
Hmm I don't think it's useful to compare the sins STs to how the demons fight. Just look at the red/gray demons. They don't have weapons either. The STs were designed to draw the full potential of the sins. Not gonna dwell on that too much, but a sin without his ST, wouldn't be able to access his power entirely.Doesn't mean he's entirely useless bare handed, just look at Ban before he got that staff. Then there is the fact that Mel didn't use his ST till recently. I don't think the difference is that huge between a normal sword and his ST, because he uses Full counter mostly. So I really don't see why the demons should fight like the sins and all of them use weapons, let alone weapons that could allow them to access all of their power. Like you said, they hardly need that with a PL of 30-40k. It's just too high and seeing how the sins are getting their asses handed to them by one demon with 26000 for a power level, I think the demons are pretty competent even without their weapons.I can see some of the demons have kinetic powers, like the two girls and the mask cloud, so it would be really useful for them to regain their magic. Galan fights like a dragoon to me, he is extremely flexible, quick and his strength is remarkable. His weapon which looks like a mix between a scythe and a halberd was particurily useful against Mel's clones, and like you said it fits his fighting style.
I think having more variety wouldn't hurt. If all the clans and races fought the same way with magically enhanced weapons the manga would become redundant, and it would kinda take away the impact of the demons having huge power levels, despite having their power depleted.
The fairies seem to use branches and parts of the sacred tree primarily, so yeah I don't think it's necessary for them to use weapons like humans.

As far as the manga has told us the only thing that makes sacred treasures special is their abilities and maybe their resistance. Weapons that can draw out as much power as the sacred treasures are pretty much ordinary at least among people with some strength. If guila and jericho got them then odds are that gilthunder, hauser, hendricksen, griamor and pretty much anyone else with something to his name also has them. Considering the deal with sacred treasures is their unique abilities I would even argue that technically the sins don't really need those specifically to draw out their full power. Sacred treasures basically allow sins to draw out their full power, as anyone with a decent weapon could do, plus an extra basically from the ability. I guess the king situation is a murky in that regard though.

As for the bold part, that is not what I meant. assuming they worked as other people then they would absolutely need weapons to draw out their full power. Although their power is so high that even if they didn't have the weapons they need to draw out their full power their weaponless selves would still be enough to deal with the sins, just as the sins could deal against armed holy knights without weapons. The difference between a fully powered commandment and an armed sin right now should be greater than the difference between a sin and the weakest holy knight (PL 300).

What I find weird is that meliodas, giants, fairies and humans so far seem to be in desperate need of weapons so far to draw out their full power. Its what we have seen. Only the demons and vampires so far have fought without weapons. Perhaps meliodas needs a weapon to draw out his true power because his demon powers are not constantly active? He was able to stop gilthunder's attack with his fingers once he activated his demon powers, perhaps it is because not only he got a power increase but he could draw out his true power without a weapon at that point. Elizabeth used her mass healing by simply radiating her goddess energy too. Although the manga has yet to address whether that is her true power or whether that is merely what she could do without a medium to draw it...

I guess it makes sense the part about Mel. He could be in sleep mode most of the time, when he awakens his demonic power he can stop someone like Gilthunder easily. The thing with humans could be that they're too weak to begin with, without weapons they're not able to surpass their inner restraints, whereas with demons and I suspect also the Goddesses, they are naturally able to manifest their power without the use of a medium, a weapon in this case. We've seen the dark mark on Mel changing forms and even becoming like big claws when he fought Helbram, with something like that at their disposal they would hardly need a weapon. But it's all just speculation at this point. From that panel with the 10 commandments it looks like at least two other members have a weapon, the one with the mustache has a rapier, while Zeldris has a short sword/dagger like Mel. The rest could just use kinetic powers or fight bare handed, especially the giant one and the ass lady.

I explained why I find the idea of the Goddesses using Eli's body very unlikely, not just because of Hendrickson. If what you assume is right, then shouldn't that mean that they could have used Elizabeth at any point to kill Meliodas? If they could interfere with humans in such a way, then they wouldn't have sent Ban to kill Mel, who btw is far from being able to achieve something like that. Killing Mel was way out of his league imo. Elizabeth's power on the other hand was powerful enough to deal quite some damage to Hendrickson even though she hasn't awakened her full power. Now imagine if a goddess could take control of her body temporarily. Plus I'm pretty sure Mel wouldn't have fought back if it was Eli.
Even on his berserk state he didn't attack Eli so there is definitely something up with her, course it could just be Melodias' own feelings.

That aside the goddess' as I've pointed out aren't exactly the paragon of logic right now since while they gave orders to kill Melodias they don't seem to have noticed Hendrickson, who is purposely trying to undo their work (which I would think is a more pressing matter).

It may simply just be that maybe a goddess can possess Elizabeth down the line but if I were to surmise one condition it would be that she is "active", meaning that symbol on her eye appears. Moreover, there maybe one other important condition that I think also explains why they ignored Hendrickson. The goddess' need to be aware of the apostle itself. I have a feeling that the goddess' simply weren't aware of Elizabeth's existence in the same way I think they ignored everything Hendrickson had done because they were unaware of him, whereas the same cannot be said of Melodias. Considering that they were unaware of Hendrickson, or at least ignored him etc or didn't know much about Ban from the looks of it, I think the goddess' are more or less ignorant of what is happening in the world.

It probably doesn't help that the only clan that seems to have some sort of communication with them is based on Merlin's description a closed off society, to the point that they'd ignore royalty.

What I find weird is that meliodas, giants, fairies and humans so far seem to be in desperate need of weapons so far to draw out their full power. Its what we have seen. Only the demons and vampires so far have fought without weapons.
I think you've already nailed it earlier when you pointed out the modified body parts of the vampires. I think that the lack of weapon stems from the demons and vampires having a more evolved body to fight so to speak, their bodies are weapons in themselves. So it might simply be that certain species like these had no interest in weapons in so much that they were already naturally blessed with one, e.g. tentacles or a really hardened body or their magic itself. Of course a weapon brings another facet altogether but I wouldn't be surprised if some never bothered with it since they felt more proficient with what they were born with, and believe they could already draw out their power innately (which they can do to an extent).

Whereas we don't see these with the other races, aside maybe giants. Humans and fairies at least aren't exactly combat oriented, they are rather frail physically if compared to vampires and demons.

But... wouldn't zeldris also be that? meliodas seems to be his twin older brother so far. Also, if meliodas had anything from the goddess clan then he would be able to heal people. Unless he lost his ability to use his goddess half altogether although that would be a tad weird. He seems to have lost the vast majority of his strength considering how his measly 3370 compares to the demons weakened 26000 but even then he seems to be able to summon demon powers for at least a few moments at a time when he needs to. One way or the other though at the moment there isn't much context to suggest meliodas is half demon.

What perhaps is worth a mention is this:

WIth the recent vampires of edinburg thing we can make the case that demons had a number of allies during the war. So the situation is that you had a force of light and a force of darkness facing each other. The side of the goddess, fairies, giants and humans on one side and the force of demons, vampires and whatever else on the other. So far the more powerful clans seem to be the goddess and the demon clan. With that in mind it is not much of a stretch that the war was basically centered around the goddess clan and the demon clan. Each side got the allies it presumably had a greater affinity to.

Anyways, why did estarossa had an armor like that? Considering he was sleeping at the time liz was unconscious it is by no means a stretch that he actually saw liz in her dream. However he as a demon was wearing an armor which bears the mark of the goddess clan. Why? It seems kinda weird and if anything such a thing would imply at least an allegiance if not downright loyalty and being subservient to the goddess clan. Perhaps the war was fought because the demon clan rebelled against the goddess clan? Maybe it all started as a war for freedom... And things escalated and other clans got involved. Then both sides lost sight of their objective... and as things escalated the bloodshed got to insane levels. And meliodas simply ended the war by ending both sides. The demons quietly sealed and the goddess clan deprived of power. Which would explain why the goddess clan would ask ban to murder meliodas' ass.

WHat perhaps does point at there being something unusual regarding meliodas' nature as a demon is that his demon mark when using his powers is not on the same side as estarossa's and zeldris. That could hint at there being something slightly different to meliodas although even then attributing it to demon clan origins is a bit of a stretch.

In this page, when estarossa is presumably sleeping he does not have his demon mark. But in the next page he has it. Is it a mistake? Or perhaps he deactivated his demon powers while meeting liz in a dream?

yes...makes sense...the demons and goddess allegiance.
remember, even the war between heaven and hell is between god and an angel...not to open a can but just bringing that up:XD

now that I think about how humans have basically been the only clan(besides fairies)that sustained after the war.
the fact liz and beth are human/goddess reincarnates...muchless dreyfus being possessed by fraudrin a demon.humans play a pivotal part in all of this....
maybe, the reason they are thriving now is because of meliodas...I find it strange that he calls zeldris a failure.
failure to what?....
raising a good demon brother or not killing meliodas when he was born?....:gwah

you have a good point about his healing ability to others...but it still puzzles me how he hasn't changed in appearance over 3000yrs.
besides the fact he has not died....

He was calling himself a failure, not Zeldris. It seemed more like Mel failed to protect his brother. Thats why he calls himself a failure.

The symbol on his armor is a triskelion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triskelion

Its a fairly common symbol in the real world, and nothing suggests its the symbol of the goddess clan specifically.

It has far too many real world connotations to really suggest what specifically it is revering to in the manga however.

The thing with the armor was to me that he was posing as Mel, it's the same armor Mel was wearing 10 years ago.

The whole dream could be that he's messing with Eli's mind and him posing as Mel, or Mel and him used to be one and they're now the same existance but separate. As for why he would mess with Eli's memories well I already said he could represent the 9 th commandment, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, and maybe because he knows she's the Apostle of the Goddess.
Also the poster having Estarossa and not Mel could suggest that he was posing as him. What if the thing Merlin stole has something to do with Estarossa? Also the demons having telepathic powers or being able to create illusions wouldn't be weird imo.

the vampiress mistaking mel for zel...and then the wanted poster with esta is really weird.
It would blow my top if in fact mel is half his self and estarossa is the other half in a possessed human body...like helbram portrayed the knight who slaughtered his friends.

What if Merlin decided to split him into two existences, with Mel getting the good side while Estarossa got the bad one? She could have done that to prevent a second Danafor.Zeldris does call Estarossa brother, but we know that Mel is his brother too, so it could be that just those two, Zeldris and Mel are brothers, and Estarossa is a mirrored version of Mel. Or the real Mel is Estarossa, and this one is the fake one...which would echo Galan's words "Are you the real Meliodas?"

If Mel and Esta were split, it would have to have been during the holy war, as Esta WAS in the seal.

I also think the other Commandments would know about it if that were the case.

And yet Mel's poster has Estarossa on it. If he's sealed then no one can truly know what he looks like. And why he or anyone would put Estarossa on the poster.
Mel doesn't seem to recognize Estarossa either...Oh well I'm sure Nakaba will explain it, in the meantime we can always make theories about it.

Maybe Mel didn't recognize him because they're are somehow connected and that connection is within whatever Merlin took from him. Could be a split personality or alter ego or perhaps they share memories. Its weird that Liz dreamt of Estarosa (which the latter induced) and maybe Zeldris calling him brother is because he is literally his brother (Meliodas in some other way). As for the poster, I'm guessing Merlin was behind that. If she took some memories (she seems to know the contents), then she could have easily manipulated the posters to be Estarosa. As far as we know, Meliodas never looked like Esta and no one alive should have any idea about that face. Well there's Fraudrin but that wouldn't make much sense.

yes...thinking the same.
why mel only mentioned zel as being a failure...instead of both him and esta:hmm

Mel and Estarossa are related. You could age advance many brothers and find they would look similar to each other.

Has Mel come into contact with Estarossa since the 10 Commandments were unsealed to prove that? I don't recall anything suggesting Mel doesn't recognize Estaorssa.

Since yhey are separate beings, it makes sense for Estarosa to have his own name. Mel and Estarosa are likely connected in some way but they don't seem to be the same person. Even alter-egos sharing the same body usually have different names. I'm curious about the whole thing though.

The fact that he hasn't commented about his poster would suggest that. If he knew Estarossa shouldn't he be alarmed, after all it could suggest that someone saw Estarossa who is supposed to be sealed? If he didn't recognize him at all this would be the sign that he didn't know about it beforehand.
And then there is the brother thing. Who is older? If it's Estarossa then maybe he shouldn't feel so guilty towards Zeldris, that is if those three are really brothers. It could be that Zeldris calls Estarossa brother but it's not literal, and yet we have those two Mel and Estarossa who look alike. This situation is like the Dreyfus/Fraudrin one, so rather than having two people maybe it's accurate to think that Mel and Estarossa are or were one person at some point.

That's what I was saying for a long time now, that Merlin could have had a hand in the making of the posters, maybe to protect Mel and Escanor, but there isn't enough evidence. Also it all depends on what she took from Mel, and from the looks of it it's more than just memories. She took some of his power too.

Well I would think seal is more appropriate here or perhaps the memory she took contains what he needs to control his power. Or she just took that part (the info itself) that contains how to use or control his powers. I doubt she actually took his powers away. I mean, these are demon powers, taking them away is a bit much even for Merlin.
