I think this is pretty much was it is because, forget Mira, no way Mashima is making Elfman steal Laxus' spolight. Given that Erza needed to use the dragonized earth energy to finish off her dragon I'd say Elfman uses his takeover power to weaken both dragons for Miraxus to beat them.

None of the S class, even with Wendy's power up, seem to be able to beat the CB's without something extra. In Erza's case the environment was convenient for her.

You are forgetting that Erza fans invading his space on x because she always seem weaker than Laxus when it comes to feats.

I think Mashima still doesn't know how to handle this situation with the dragons. Just look at Motherglare, after she transformed into her dragon form, she used her human form again. He probably doesn't know how to defeat them in a good way. Because of that most things are so random and bad.

It's reocurring problem with the entire spin-off. And somehow they decided to add even more dragon enemies over time. Now they are trying to say that "beast" is the same as "dragon", which is obviously not true, but they struggle to find a way for Strausses to do something.
