I think Acnologia is a human, his dad would've died long ago.
Acnologia is human. But he was taught by a dragon in order to obtain his dragon slaying magic.

He is just like Gajeel, Wendy, Rogue, and Sting. They are all human and dragon slayers, but they learned their magic from real and actual dragons..

Pretty sure he would've killed it.
Back in those times there was the war between dragons and humans, and the dragon slayers were given "too much" power, so they not only killed the dragons that were fighting them, but the dragons that taught them their magic and the other dragons on their side.

As per the progression we've had, its either Zeref or Acnologia. But the possibility of new villains being introduced has not been ruled out, though.

Yeah. Even with Hiro-sama introducing new villains every arc the possibility can't be ruled out.

It could very well be Natsu in his END form for all I know... At least that's what I hope will happen.

came here to post this; I could see a scenario in which Zeref splits of E.N.D from (think smallville black kryptonite) & E.N.D goes on a rampage of his own.

Not necessarily though. The dragon slayers killed both friendly dragons and the dragons that were trying to fight the humans, but it doesn't mean Acnologia killed his parent dragon.

As far as we've seen, it's really hard for a human to kill a dragon, even all the dragon slayers. Sting and Rogue thought they killed their parent dragons, even all the other dragon slayers and humans at GMG believed the twin dragon slayers. As it turned out though, Skiadrum and Weisslogia were both still alive.

Skiadrum and Weisslogia simply faked their death by pretending to be sick. Then they altered Sting and Rogue's minds. Acnologia's parent dragon could have very well done the same. Plus. To think the dragon that trained Acnologia is already killed? It's possible, but I'm leaning to believe he is alive for now, cuz Acnologia's parent dragon must be one badass dragon to have created a powerful dragon slayer like Acnologia himself..

I do agree that acnologia's parent dragon must have been pretty powerful but I wouldn't be surprised if acnologia killed him/her. He seems to genuinely hate both dragons and humans so I doubt he'd show preference or perhaps his parent dragon was killed in the war. Anyway, though I believe his parent dragon must have been powerful, I don't think he would have been extraordinary or very different from the others. We already know dragon slayers of the past were able to kill dragons so even though acnologia killed more, it's not that different. After he became a dragon, he probably got stronger so killing dragons still isn't surprising since as humans, he and other dragon slayers could already kill dragons. Plus he was actually losing to a weakened and half-alive Igneel.

I wouldn't mind welcoming new character as final villain. And this means Fairy Tail will last longer hahaha

I'm pretty damn sure Acnologia's Parent Dragon rivals Igneel. Then, Acnologia will be considered Natsu's rival, which makes sense. Basically the way I see it is if you want to compete against a dragon like Igneel, you have to be at least a pure dragon.

Acnologia rivaling Natsu would make more sense than Acnologia rivaling Igneel cuz Acnologia and Natsu are both essentially the same, except Acnologia has lived longer. Both are dragon slayers, but to kill a dragon like Igneel, I think it's out of both of their leagues.

During the Dragon War, the dragons like Igneel taught humans dragon slaying magic, but not for them to win the war for the friendly dragons. It was more of like an asset to the friendly dragons because dragons like Igneel were outnumbered.

Acnologia hating dragons was a big thing, but I don't think hatred alone was enough for Acnologia to kill his parent dragon. If you ask me, the ranking kinda goes like:

Acnologia can easily kill a dragon like Atlas Flame, but against Igneel and his parent dragon, he stands no chance. Acnologia's parent dragon practically trained Acnologia himself.

It was said Acnologia pretty much wiped out the dragon race, but it never said he defeated his parent dragon. My best guess is that Acnologia killed most of the dragons, but the dragons were either fodders or in the level of dragons like Atlas Flame.

My dragon ranking goes like:

First Tier Dragons - Igneel, Metalicana, Skiadrum, Weisslogia, Grandine, and Acnologia's parent dragon, etc.

Sub-First Tier Dragons - Acnologia and Natsu (technically they're human but I count them as the strongest dragon-infused humans)

Second Tier Dragons - Atlas Flame, Rock Dragon, Motherglare, etc

Third Tier Dragons- Fodders like the ones we saw in the Future Lucy Timeline clips

I was under the impression that Igneel was the strongest of all the dragons before Acnologia. At full power, I can see Igneel being on Acnologia's level. I don't see the other dragons like Metallicana and Grandeeney being on his level though.

Acnologia's parent dragon is probably irrelevant at this point. Remember, part of the reason Acnologia became so powerful was because he killed a lot of dragons. We know from Sting and Rogue that dragon slayers are supposed to become more powerful as they kill dragons. We also know that Acnologia once used a type of dragon slaying magic to steal a lot of souls from the dragons. It stands to reason that the source of Acnologia's power comes from the souls of all the dragons he has killed before. I don't think Acnologia has just one element. Rather, I think Acnologia's power is a fusion of all of the elements from the dragon souls he's collected, essentially making something similar to Etherion (which is also a fusion of all the elements).

Just because Igneel is the strongest dragon, it doesn't mean there aren't any others in his tier. Tiers aren't clustered to a limited group. It's actually pretty vague. Metalicana and Skiadrum may not have been able to beat Igneel, but as far as tier goes, they are around Igneel. Hence why dragon slayers like Gajeel, Sting, and Rogue are all similar to Natsu.

At any rate, they have to be somewhat similar since all of them are experienced enough to train a human. It even showed Grandine was close to Igneel when she communicated with him in Natsu's body.

Regardless, Acnologia's parent dragon has a 50% chance of being alive still. Whether or not he is introduced, it's unlikely that Acnologia was able to defeat a dragon that trained him. Especially since we've seen countless times that dragon slayers usually don't kill their parent dragons. Other dragons, sure, but their own, I've never seen it.

Also, I'm not sure Acnologia's magic is a fusion of other magic. I'm pretty sure Dragon slaying magic is usually restricted to one type and can only be taught not absorbed. In other words, it's not likely for anyone to steal a dragon's power, it can only be accessed through training from an actual dragon. The only thing you gain from the souls are dragon blood and power of the dragon which eventually leads to dragonization. At least this is what I think.

And I'm pretty sure Etherion is just a concentration of magical particles. It's not all magics combined or fused. Think of it more like energy I guess.

At this point I am under the impression that Acnologia is the final villain. He has always been the most powerful character in the story and for the people who think the most powerful character in Fairy Tail is Zeref, why would Zeref need a whole empire to beat Acnologia then? I would understand if Hiro Mashima were to make the final opponent Ankhersam because it does seem like he has been overseeing the general plot for quite a while. But otherwise, I am pretty sure the final villain will be Acnologia.

Out of all the dragons, Igneel was the only one referred to as a Dragon King. Unless the other 4 get some sort of a special mention in the future, I'm placing him and Acnologia on a separate tier from all the rest. I don't think being experienced enough to train humans is any sort of a qualifier. Any dragon should be able to do that.

Most dragon slayers also didn't go around on a killing spree like Acnologia did. I mean, Acnologia did say that he was displeased that dragons were still alive. Just because the dragon slayers we see now don't go around killing their parents, it doesn't mean the dragon slayers from 400 years ago didn't kill the dragons who trained them. In fact, they most certainly did. They hunted the species to extinction. Remember, the dragon slayers from 400 years ago were brought in as soldiers to help fight in the war, and it looked like they were adults. They ended up betraying the dragons that they were allies with. The five dragon slayers were trained as children, and actually loved their parent dragons.

Dragon Slayer Magic is not restricted to one type, and can be absorbed. That's how future Rogue stole Sting's power. Rogue killed Sting, and then absorbed his power. 2nd generation dragon slayers get their magic from dragon lacryma, which is presumably what dragons leave behind when they die. In any case, it was stated that "etherion was composed of a number of different magical properties, not just fire", which makes it sound as if Etherion was a fusion of all elements of magic.

I'm not sure you need a title to be considered Igneel and Acnologia tier. How can Acnologia be in the same tier as Igneel when Igneel beat Acnologia using only 5-10% of his power?

Even somebody like a Metalicana and Skiadrum could do better. Not only did Metalicana, Skiadrum, Weisslogia, and Grandine train the dragon slayers, but it isn't coincidence that those very dragons are the ones that showed up to help the humans with the faces during Tartaros. As far as I'm concerned, they are all in the same league.

Acnologia's lust and hatred for the dragons doesn't qualify him killing his own parent dragon. Sting and Rogue thought they killed theirs, but their dragons were pretending to be dead. Skiadrum and Weisslogia altered Sting and Rogue's minds to make them believe that they died. Acnologia's parent dragon could have very well done the same, humans can't read dragons' minds. The dragons have the power to erase memories from the humans

The thing about Future Rogue and Sting is different, for two reasons:

1. Sting was a human, so Future Rogue can absorb that magic power

2. Sting used dragon slaying magic, dragons don't use that. They are dragons, so they use their own powers not dragon slaying magic. They only teach dragon slaying magic.

In theory, dragon slaying magic is strictly locked to being taught, at any rate, Acnologia most likely uses a certain type of magic. Etherion is made from elemental magic, but I don't think that means all magic. Elemental magic isn't the same as all magic if I'm correct

When was it ever said that it was only 5-10% of Igneel's power? Sure, Igneel wasn't at full power, but 5-10%? There's no evidence of that. Also, there's no guarantee that Metallicana or Grandeeney were on the level of Igneel to begin with. What Igneel did was more impressive than what the other dragons did. Igneel fought Acnologia for 20 minutes, and knocked him down once, and then took an arm. There was a real threat of combat. The faces were just stationary targets.

Everything you're saying about Acnologia's parent dragon largely speculation. We know for a fact that dragon slayers must have killed their parent dragons, or at least the parent dragons of other dragon slayers. Even if Acnologia didn't kill him, whats to say that one of the dragon slayers from 400 years ago didn't do the job.

Dragons do use dragon slaying magic. It was stated that "There is ordinarily no way for a human to learn dragon slayer magic; It is a skill restricted to the dragons themselves". Link here. This means that dragon slayer magic was a skill that the dragons used. It makes sense too. Zilconis even said that dragons can use magic, so there's no reason a dragon can't use dragon slayer magic. The dragons must have invented the magic, and know it to such an extent that they can teach it. So why wouldn't they be able to use it? Dragon Slayers use the same power as their dragons. That's why Natsu's fire is recognized as Igneel's, and Wendy's sky magic was recognized as Grandeeney's.

In practice, you can obtain dragon slayer magic by lacryma and/or taking it from someone by eating it. Practice beats theory. My point is that if Etherion contains all types of elements within it and Acnologia has the elements of all the dragons he's stolen souls from, then Acnologia's power should resemble that of Etherion. When you look it it, the colors of Acnologia's roar does kind of look like Etherion. I mean, what element do you think Acnologia has then?

5-10% was a way of saying that Igneel was dying and was pretty much drawing his last breaths. And we never saw what Grandeeney and Metallicana could do, but it is logical that they must be in Igneel's tier because they are definitely stronger than Atlas Flame's tier and are at least on par with Acnologia's tier.

How do we know for a fact that dragon slayers killed their parent dragons? Do you have proof? If anything, we have been told and shown over and over again that dragon slayers don't kill their parent dragons. Sting and Rogue are prime examples of that. They were cocky to believe they could kill their own parent dragons. Skiadrum and Weisslogia appearing before them put them to shame and showed them that it isn't easy to kill a dragon even if you are an excellent dragon slayer. Let alone your parent dragon who trained you as a kid and knew your weaknesses before you knew how to properly throw a punch.

That link actually supported my theory. It didn't say "There is ordinarily no way for a human to use dragon slaying magic; it is a skill restricted to dragons themselves".

It said, "There is ordinarily no way for a human to learn dragon slaying magic; it is a skill restricted to dragons themselves"

Natsu was telling Cobra that the only way to learn dragon slaying magic is if a dragon taught you. Natsu was basically commenting that Cobra was a fake dragon slayer cuz he was 2nd gen. That supports my theory because the only way to learn is pretty much by a dragon teaching you.

Even so, the magic that dragons use may be similar to the dragon slayers' magic, but it isn't identical. Dragon staying magic was solely invented for the humans themselves to win the war. The dragons had no reason to create it for themselves, which meant that they must have used another form of magic prior to giving humans dragon slaying magic.

You can have the Etherion theory if you want. Frankly, it could be but I don't think that the magic council possesses the same magic that Acnologia does. I honestly don't know Acnologia and he could have a mixture of elements, but judging from his looks, I'd say some dark magic.

Acnologia seems like the last villain if the dragon king festival is the last event and is the most powerful in this series. Zeref to me is someone that either END or Mavis beats. Mavis did say she has some plans for Zeref if Natsu's secret technique doesn't work.

I think END could be last villain because his name is literally the end. Basically Natsu uses his etherious abilities plus his dragon abilities to beat Acnologia, but is then overcome by the negative emotions in etherious form and Natsu becomes a bad guy. Then Gray vs END. I don't like that ending at all but it could happen.

Regardless of theory, you can get dragon slayer magic without having to learn it directly from a dragon. Natsu obtained lightning from eating Laxus' magic. Gajeel obtained shadow. Rogue obtained light. Cobra and Laxus obtained poison and lightning respectively. You can eat other dragon slaying magic and combine it with your own if you've already learned ds magic. Also, dragon slaying magic is just simply a human using a dragon's power. Dragon slaying magic even turns you into a dragon. How are they not using the same power? The difference between the council and Acnologia is that Acnologia has full control over this power and can use it at his discretion, whereas the cannon is the Fairy Tail equivalent of an atomic bomb.

We do know for a fact that the dragon slayers 400 years ago turned on their allied dragon and killed them all. That's why they're all extinct. Either they killed their own parent dragons, or one of their friends killed them, or Acnologia did. Either way, they're dead. It's unlikely they all died naturally because a natural lifespan would have produced off-springs, and then the dragons won't be extinct. There is a major difference between the current 5 dragon slayers and the ones 400 years ago. The current 5 were trained as children and none of them wanted to kill dragons. They were like 10 years old when the dragons disappeared. The dragon slayers 400 years ago were brought in as soldiers. From what we can see when Weisslogia taught them, they were already adults going in. Also, not only did they kill dragons, but it was recorded that they actually killed the dragons they were allied with. So yeah, parent dragons died.

Anyways, back on topic: I agree with everyone who is saying Acnologia is most likely. I think whatever is going on with END will be resolved by the time we get to Zeref. I don't see Natsu remaining evil after Zeref.

Yeah this is getting off topic, but basically all I'm trying to say is that not all of the dragons are extinct. They could be hiding. We didn't even know that dragons existed until we saw Acnologia on Tenrou. So it is still possible for Acnologia's parent dragon to appear?
