Wow I didn't even think about Gray only beating a Spriggan with slayer advantage.
I believe you meant that Gray had ice resistance while fighting Invel (instead of slayer advantage since Invel was not a demon).
Anyways, in my opinion, Gray didn't really have any ice advantage against Invel. If anything, it was the other way around - Invel, who is also an ice wizard. was the one who had the "ice advantage" over Gray.
Relative speaking, Invel's resistance to ice/cold temperatures is a lot higher than Gray's:
Panel 1: Gray is shivering from Invel's freezing temperatures, but Invel himself is not affected.
Panel 2: Gray feels cold from just standing in Invel's blizzard, but it doesn't bother Invel.
And Invel explains that this is because he uses True Ice Magic, which is a superior version of ice magic compared to Ice-Make Magic:
Panel 3: Invel explaining that Ice-Make Magic is a derivative of True Ice Magic.
Basically, ice wizards aren't immune to ice. They are just highly resistant to cold temperatures. But since Invel technically has the higher cold resistance compared to Gray, then if there were any advantages at all, it would have been in Invel's favor.
