so are you saying that Makarov would deliberately attack Happy while he is right in front of Jacob? that is an even more terrible argument because that is against the creed that is the FT way. it is common for people to make speeches in between attacks to give context or just monologue, that is more their inner moments, which would not make sense if they are in actual real time motion. for example, people talking while a meteor, that is already in the earth's atmosphere is falling towards them would not have anytime for a long speech as it is 25,000 mph, unless you want to say that the villain who summons it deliberately holds it back while that is going on, that would even be more ridiculous, even if it was falling slower than normal would not make sense as it is still burning that means it still burns up on entry. that would make no sense either as Natsu attacks Ajeel as well outside the Guild and had no reason to hold back, your logic is flawed. I do not take the context of anime seriously as it deviates from the actual source material, the fight was off screen, even then Mira landed an attack on Jacob, not the otherway around.

Makarov didn't attack Happy. If you watch the anime, Happy actually had enough time to get out of the way before Makarov threw the punch. This means that Jacob had even more time to react. Happy had time to fly out of the way of Makarov's approach. Jacob saw Makarov. Then Makarov punched him.

I'm not about to get into an argument for how fast Irene's meteor was. We see in the anime how much time Erza had to break the meteor once it was in sight. That's amount the time it took, and the meteor was travelling at speeds where doing this was humanly possible. Simple as that. Here's the bottom line when it comes to Jacob: He had plenty of time to see Makarov's approach (the anime makes this abundantly clear). Natsu and Lucy's combo kick also caught Jacob off guard, so the "blindsiding" doesn't give Makarov an advantage anyways. At the end of the day, with all factors accounted for, Makarov's punch simply hits harder than Natsu and Lucy's combo kick. Unless you believe Natsu can't hit harder than Makarov with his base mode attacks, then Natsu simply held back against Jacob when they were within the guild.

You literally see the Gag face on him so Jacob was caught off guard...and again je took that punch with zero injury lmao. How does a punch not hurt you but launch you?

He literally stood there and took zero damage yet got launched? Not even a grunt from his text :lmao

anime is a useless reference as it deviates from the actual source material, so still your point is moot, again anime is useless here, otherwise I would say that Dorma Anim is stronger than Acnologia by feats alone.

So are you saying that Villains purposely slow down their attacks so their enemies can actually get out of the way or have more dialogue? because that is more ridiculous than anything you accuse people of

A gag face doesn't mean anything, and isn't an argument for Jacob being unable to notice Makarov was right in front of him. Jacob had exclaimation marks right before Natsu and Lucy combo kicked him too. So again, with all factors accounted for, Makarov's punch simply hits harder.

Dora Anim doesn't have any feats that would put him on Acnologia's level, but I digress. Hiro Mashima wasn't involved in the anime that much prior to the the 2014 series. After which he was directly involved in creating the filler arcs. In the final season, Hiro Mashima was involved in writing Acnologia's backstory. The fillers in this season are as canon as Acnologia's backstory.

It does when only a small few seconds passed especially when he was confounded with Happy blocking him, It does not hit harder as it did not even injure Jacob, when even base Natsu's punches and kicks did nothing to Spriggans (barring Neinhart) Dorma Anim effects the entire world of magic in Edolas, and when it was released before, it nearly destroyed the whole planet, get your facts straight since you are using anime as reference. He was as he wanted to add in the OS backstory to the anime, including information from Edolas by Hiro, it doesn't matter from anyway from your part, it is still part of the story.

Plus the Gag face on everyone...Gag face means this moment is not being taken seriously which is why it's labeled "gag" as it's supposed to be funny nonsense. Like I said, how is he getting launched with his guard up when he didn't even take damage from said attack?

Tbh Im actually of the opinion that portrayal matters about as much as feats do, I think I oversimplified my comment just a bit so you guys somewhat misunderstood me, so I'll go into detail here. What I meant by the first part of my comment is that Mira scales to all spriggan tiers(except the top), even Larcade, despite him being above the average spriggan(not much above).
Even the high ones? Personally I feel her performance against Juliet and Heine isn't enough to put her above low S12 tier.

She did absolutely destroy them when she got serious, but the fact that it took so much MP to do so really isn't a mark in her favour.
I agree on Age Seal not being all that, and that higher tiers(probably even Larcade) could prob ignore it, but I disagree on the effectiveness of Larcades magic. His magic can be fought through, Eileen, Kagura and Sting all did it, I have no doubt Zeref, Laxus, GIldarts, etc could too if their lives were on the line.
While I do agree that his Magic can be fought through, we know for a fact that Laxus and Gildarts got floored by it pretty much instantly. In Kagura's case she only experienced it for a short amount of time due to Larcade needing the tentacles, had she been in the same situation as Yukino, Laxus or Gildarts I'm unsure of whether she would have been able to come up with a work around before being floored (though I recognise there's little proof for this argument either way, so feel free to reject this, just what I think would be the case).

Fair enough on Sting fighting through the Hunger, though really I don't see that as a 'win button' for Larcade, rather its just a debuff to make his life easier. And while Slumber Magic can be resisted, anyone who can't escape to the world of shadows (basically anyone bar August, Gajeel, Rogue, Sting and potentially Irene) is going to fall pretty quickly, at least going from what we saw.
As for Larcade doing well against his direct counter, sure, but lets be honest, Sting isn't exactly top tier.
Yeah, I admitted this myself earlier. That said though, WSDM Sting should at least be near Spriggan tier at the very least, so putting up an extremely difficult fight against a Spriggan that is immune to most of his magic is still good. I'm not exactly unbiased here though, so I could potentially be blowing this out of proportion.
Now for what I meant about the second part of my comment, about spriggans not being all that different, what I meant was that they're overall strength is more or less the same to the point where the "tiers" don't mean much, not that there is no difference in their individual stats. I've said before, characters on the same general level can have vastly different stats. Some have better durability, some have larger scale magic, some have more potent magic, etc.
Hmmmm...

I can get what you mean in that (using a Pokemon analogy here) their base stat totals are basically the same, but the difference is exactly what you pointed out - some Spriggans have superior skill in vastly more important aspects. Going back to Neinhart vs Wahl, we can see just by looking at their performances which one has the better 'stat investment'. Wahl has far better durability, versatility and intelligence. The only thing that Neinhart might be better at is attack potency (as much as Neinhart disappoints me even I have to admit that his blast he used against Jellal was seemingly quite powerful when you consider its a nameless spell). But even then, Wahl has shown to have quite good attack potency himself.

Even if you want to discount the above, I would argue that the types of Magic/Curses they have are more than enough to put them on separate tiers. I think the best example of this is seen by comparing Ajeel and Invel. Both have elemental magics, both have roughly similar stats in all areas bar intelligence, and both have ridiculously large AoE attacks. However, I consider Invel to be considerably stronger. His Ice Magic is just far more useful due to the instant freezing and mind hax. Just compare their encounters with Team Natsu. Ajeel wasn't exactly playing serious during their first run in, but the sheer difference between how each encounter went makes me think that doesn't necessarily matter for this debate. Ajeel looked to be winning due to his crazy AoE and desiccating sand (though the 'winning' part is dubious AF here since they weren't fighting back properly and he later got punked by Elfman and Lisanna). But Invel didn't just look to be winning, he outright insta-freezed them (apart from Gray). You could argue they got blindsided, but they were walking into a chilly area and knew that Invel used Ice Magic, it shouldn't have exactly been hard to figure out he was nearby. And given that Ice Mages have used flash-freezing throughout the manga, they should have prepared to face it.

Sorry, got a little off-topic at the end there! I guess the TL;DR version is that while their MP and overall stats should leave them in roughly the same tier, the differences in what aspects of strength they are skilled in and of what kinds of Magic/Curses they use is far too extreme to have their in the same tier as each other. I hate to beat a dead horse but just compare Neinhart and Bradman:

Neinhart: Poor durability, his primary Magic relies on circumstance and his back up Magic's strength is hard to gauge

Bradman: Intangible, AoE poison effect, has a whole collection of hax, enough Magic Power to match Gajeel's Roar despite Gajeel himself saying he didn't have much in comparison to the other S12 members, and even when Bradman does die he almost certainly takes the opponent with him

I just don't see how these two are even close to being in the same tier.
The way I consider character stats in Fairy Tail is pretty much the same as how Mashima laid out the stats for the Demon Gates, except replace Curse Power with Magic Power.
Can't find a translated version but from top to bottom it's Health, Attack, Defense, Speed, Intelligence, and Curse Power. If I were to judge a spriggan like Neinhart it would be:
Health: 3000
Attack: 6000
Defense: 3000
Speed: 1000
Intelligence: 2000
Magic Power: 12000
And for a spriggan like God Serena it'd be:
Health: 4000
Attack: 5000
Defense: 12000
Speed: 5000
Intelligence: 5
Magic Power: 10000

That's generally how I've thought of FT power levels since the end of Tartaros. And to a lesser degree even before GMG. As for Wahl vs Ajeel. Spell size means nothing to me, so Wahl busting a bunch of buildings doesn't impress me. Ajeel moisture drain is mediocre too. Killing Wahl with a named attack rather than a nameless nuke does get some credit from me, but not enough for me to consider them a tier apart. The stats I'd estimate for them are:

Wahl
Health: 5000
Attack: 5000
Defense: 7000
Speed: 5000
Intelligence: 3000
Magic Power: 9000
Ajeel
Health: 5000
Attack: 3000
Defense: 4000
Speed: 5000
Intelligence: 2000
Magic Power: 10000
While I do love the Tartaros info cards (seriously, why did they ever stop producing those, they were so helpful), I'm not sure how well it works with the Spriggans. There would need to be a new category or two for a measurement of hax, otherwise we encounter issues such as:

- How high is DiMaria's attack value? Offensively, Time Seal is bananas against most mages since she can just kill them by slitting their throats. But then you also have DF Wendy easily blocking her God Soul Chronos Lasers.

- How high is Wahl's defense value? His Weakness Magic allows him to be completely immune to one certain type of magic at a time, forming a near unbreakable defense. Yet when someone gets around Weakness he will be far less durable.

Now there are counter-arguments to my issues, but personally I don't think they hold much weight:

Counter-argument: "In the case of DiMaria you would just choose to measure the power of her beams, because her method of killing in Age Seal is not part of her Magic skill set, its simply a knife."

But Age Seal is her spell and its what enables her near instantaneous stomping, so shouldn't it factor in to her offense score?

Counter-argument: "As for Wahl, much like Torafuzar you would count his Weakness Magic into his defense score because you have to get through that to exploit his naturally less durable body."

But then how do we account for versatile mages? If someone who knows more than one type of Magic fights Wahl they could theoretically just keep switching up the attacks, meaning that his defense score that factors in Weakness Magic is null. At which point we then need to have a figure for his non-Weakness Magic durability, but as it is with the Tartaros cards that wouldn't be possible.

I'm aware that this is pretty nitpicky, however these sort of questions would have to be considered otherwise certain cards could end up being useless.
I'm not about to get into an argument for how fast Irene's meteor was.

:verily Do not fear, i am in the process of making these cards, so that you can enjoy figuring out the digits more vividly.
:xp these arguments are actually pretty valid, but its kinda too late since i made a good number of these cards. I was even messing around with certain abilities and magic.

Oh don't get me wrong, while I think there may be issues with using cards as concrete evidence in debates, I would still love to have them!

You're a real G my dude, can't wait to see the outcome.

The thing about cards though and numbers, they are really inconsistent without anything objectively comparable to, just saying

You think :hmm
yeah they do seem kinda inconsistent since they were more intended to be like a joke card game, but its still kinda manageable since the entire Tartaros guild got their digits and you can base it on who they fought. Thinking Thinking ....

My only disagreement with you here is Larcade not having slightly more power than the average Spriggan. IMO, Larcade should have more magic power than at least enchanted Neinhart.
I said Larcade was above the average spriggan, and I agree he is prob above enchanted Neinhart. He should be able to go through Age Seal imo. Well like I said, I don't consider the tiers all that much different from each other. Even Larcade is only slighty above normal spriggans imo.
I feel like the work around for Larcades Pleasure, non tentacle version would just be to attack him and interrupt it. Imo if Kagura can fight through it by biting her tongue, pretty much anyone else can.

For Invel vs Ajeel, I'd consider them on the same general tier too. Ajeel had FT in the Ant Lion Pit too, and just like with Invel's insta freeze, a burst of fire from Natsu instantly got everyone out of it. Was a bit more delayed in the Invel fight, but they were blindsided, and Gray needed a bit of time to fight.
I'll agree Neinhart is overall a pile of shit in a fight, but I just take that as him being ill suited to direct combat. His magic power is pretty impressive. He put up a decent fight against Gray, Lyon, Juvia, Melody, injured Laxus, injured Erza and injured Wendy all at the same time. His offense is alright too.

As for the Tartaros cards, lets be real, Seilah was just as deadly as DImaria was back in the day. Plus they do have a measurement for hax, or rather a measurement for iconic abilities, I just couldn't be stuffed including it. Macro and Sensation are both worth around 2000 I think, very high compared to other Demon Gates. Mard's Alegria is worth 5000. If I had to give scores to someone like DImaria and Wahl. Weakness would be worth 600. Age Seal would be worth 3000.

Jacob threw his hands up after he got hit to prevent any more hits. He didn't have his defense up when Natsu and Lucy kicked him. Jacob wasn't making any effort to defend himself before he got hit. You can literally see that Jacob's right hand is still raised the exact moment he gets hit. If Jacob made any effort to cover up, it was after he had already been hit.

You don't knock how much damage Jacob took from the attack. It's a punch. Gag face means nothing.

Ah my bad, I somehow misread that.

Agreed that certain Spriggans could beat Larcade too, though I still have Larcade in higher esteem than you tbh. I feel like he's in a weird tier of his own that's above all of the regular Spriggans by a decent amount but still drastically below Irene and August. If I had to compare it to FT characters it would be somewhere above Gray/Erza but below Jellal/Laxus/Gildarts.

Eh, I get that many of these people weren't in front of Larcade but they went down way too quickly to convince me they could stop him.
Invel's also got the Mind Control stuff + his Raiment. That puts him solidly above Ajeel IMO, even if Ajeel's Sand Body is technically better from a defensive standpoint, the freezing hax of Raiment is better. Honestly its a shame we never got to see anyone else other than Gray interact with it, I'm curious as to whether the cracking effect would have been even worse on someone who isn't highly resistant to Ice Magic.
Yeah, the dude is good from a logistics standpoint.

I feel his magic is just too circumstantial though. If you put him up against characters that haven't killed many of their enemies, he's screwed.
Ah, I forgot they had the boosts, cheers for the reminder.

Which does not matter as Spriggans have shown to be able to take base Natsu’s attacks and even show to overpower him (besides Neinhart’s durability which was stated), défenses or no, they can take it

Imo they only went down because they weren't currently engaged in a fight, if Eileen and Kagura can power through it, then people like Zeref, Laxus and Gildart's should be able to as well imo. I wouldn't even put Larcade on Gray's tier tbh, not his darkness version anyway. I rank Larcade below END, and Gray was able to match it's offense both in their clashes and in their damage to Erza. He could tank ENDs attacks too so his durability is far above most spriggans.

Mind Control stuff is alright, but the fact that it didn't help him in the slightest when Gray was beating the snot out of him instantly makes me think less of it in a combat scenario. Ice Kamui getting shattered by Gray's pure physical strength doesn't particularly impress me either.

Yeah, I used to think Neinhart's magic was situational too, until I found out he can use his own Historias. I don't know how many people Neinhart has killed, but now that he has 3 spirggan historias on his side he should be fine.

One of the problems is those Spriggans weren't at full power

Sure, but 3 should more or less equal 1, after all it's just Neinhart's power split into 3. God Serena was still pretty decent, and Rogue should be more or less Sting level who didn't do too bad against Larcade, so Bloodman was alright too.
