The thing is, I find this all pointless. Because remember our last discussion about power levels? It seems Mashima will make our characters somehow comparable to each other, over timeskips, irrespective of any logical sense, if that's how he sees it

Anyway, I stand corrected.
Base Laxus was above base Erza. Laxus used RL as a response to Erza getting dragon seal. Which means it should actually be mid diff by logical scaling. I was gonna write mid diff, but I don't see it being a mid diff based on portrayal that Mashima gave us.
This is how it went:
- base Laxus overwhelmed base Erza
- Erza went dragon seal & DS sword
- Laxus used RL in response
- Erza used Natsu & Gray swords
- fight becomes almost even
It should be mid at most by logical scaling, but screw it man. I know the game Mashima is playing

You are missing two stuffs though
1. Laxus got an additional boost, the blood boost
2. And erza only used fire and ice sword once

What do you mean fight becomes almost even, it was even after laxus statement and after erza dropped the fire and ice sword.

Mishma kept one thing in his sleeve, that erza was holding back. So your conclusion did kept that margin of error

What you said is head canon. Post the scan right now that states Laxus got an additional boost in power from bleeding. You can't. That was nonsense floating around before the chapter was translated and was never supported

And somehow you interpreted that as him getting boosted from bleeding. The blood is simply what's weaponized to conjure the lightning. We even see some of it taking the form of lightning after Erza cut him. There's nothing supporting it being more powerful or potent. That's your head canon.

I was wondering the same thing.
I mean no dragon seems to be harmed by any non ds magic.
I had hoped we would see stronger mages taking out dragons without ds, but that doesnt seems possible.

Dragon seems to be different than demon and gods.
Both gods and demons can be effected by other magic, but slayer magic is super effective on them.
Dragons seems completely immune to other magic. Ds magic, might not even be super effective against them. Because how would we know, if no other magic works.

The difference in speed between Laxus and Erza is negligible. There were instances where Laxus caught Erza by surprise by suddenly appearing beside her to land a blow before she could react, and vice-versa. There were also instances where they were trading blows on equal footing. We saw from how their fight played out, that speed was hardly a crucial factor that determined the outcome.

Erza though was visibly crying in pain on quite a number of occasions more than Laxus did. Laxus was hurt twice in the fight. The first time when Erza countered with three slashes, and the second after she busted out the twin swords with Natsu and Gray's powers. Laxus was otherwise in control for majority of their fight. He was the one dictating the tempo by constantly putting the pressure on Erza and enduring her slashes. While Erza screamed in agony each time Laxus strikes connected with her. She was sent sprawling on the ground several times after being overwhelmed.

Laxus evidently has the greater attack potency. I don't see how being capable of delivering multiple slashes in a moment is useful here. Erza needed multiple slashes on each occasion when she managed to hurt Laxus. While Laxus literally used one blow each time. So Laxus has advantage in efficacy because it consumes less effort/energy on his end to hurt Erza. In a nutshell, he needed to do less to achieve the same objective. This was helpful and contributed to his victory because at the end of their fight, Erza was thoroughly gassed.

We can see how long Erza has been unconscious for that she pushed herself past her limits in that fight and had nothing left in her tank. This is why Laxus was already up and running again after such a short period of time.

After erza went serious, they seems to be equal. We saw their final attack canceling out each other. Showing that attack power was also around each other.
I think laxus durability is just higher and stemina

Erza is still unconscious most likely because of plot reasons. Mishma will probably use erza later. This allows jellal and laxus to shine

in the final phase hit ratio was same, well kinda. i mean i guess @Jko and @grey matter also proved that when everyone was going all out that erza hit more but

endurance (maybe, popular opnion of fans)

its still far from laxus extreme low diffing erza, which fans used to have wet dreams about
i wonder will this be the first arc where an irrelevant secondary character out perform erza

he is using flawed logic. we might as well say Laxus has 10 hits in one cause his lighting shocked her entire body LOL.

you know, when you actually see the last chapter of their fight, it was off paneled a bit from what it seemed.

Laxus has like 7 slashes max. other slashes she did were negligible.
