father -son theme..in hunter x hunter

I wonder if Yoshihiro Togashi had father issues growing up. Seems to be some father - son themes in Hunter X hunter manga /anime.

Ging abandoning his son . I mean if I was Gon and my father abandon me I don't know if I would want to look for him but the main reason why Gon wanted to become a Hunter was to find his father. During the Hunter exam arc it seems that was one of the main themes. Saying that Togashi has this father -son relationship where the sons take after the father.




Silva torturing his son to become an assassin . Saying that I think Silva cared for his son where he let him go to be with his friend BUT he did mention that Killua will come back because he is Silva son. So again very similar to Ging and Gon relationship the fathers has this expectation for their sons in how they will behave.

The father-son relationship between Gyro and his abusive father. During this flash back you see the abusive relationship between Gyro and his father..probably the worst out of all these dads..and I think in the future your going to see how this plays out regarding Gyro.

The other father -son relationship but it doesn't really go too much is Isaac Netero -Beyond Netero..have no idea how that relationship is like.

Overall from reading manga it seems to me that most of the fathers were just BAD fathers and the sons one way or the other takes right after them for good or bad.

There certainly is a theme here (and let's please add the kakin monarch to his list who puts this on a whole new level with making his children fight to the death), but on the other hand: I think Silva is basically (except for Killuah) the most well adjusted and benevolent part of the zoldyek family (which is not a HUGE feat but still something) and kill's relationship with his Mom is much more troubled (and with Illumi).

I think HxH has a very wide variety of close or complex male to male relationship, which includes deep friendships and also Mentorship (like wing mentoring zushi, Hisoka, to an extent, mentoring gon and kite mentoring gon of course).

I do not necessarily think that points to togashi having father issues.
I mean, gon's dad and other male father figures are very different.
Gon's dad is certainly the one providing gon with a reason to push himself to new heights (and gon seems to like it that way) will Mito is the one providing him with safety and care.
In Killuah's case, Killuah basially gets the most attention of all his children from his dad (which is not necessarily a good thing, but in the twisted ways of that family, that is definitely showiong affection) and Silva puts great trust and effort on killuah, letting him do his thing and being confident killuah will still return to him.
Actually if we put aside all that murdering, silva is a top notch dad who accepts the differences of all his children (except alluka) and educates them accordingly and should probably write help books on that matter.

Then we got Wing , who is a very protective father figure making Zushi take slow steps but who wants to unleash the complete potential of his protegees.
Kite is rather protective of gong and killuah, too, even if he does take them along to a very risky adventure.

Gyro's father is abondonement played straight tho, and the kakin monarch seems to be, too.

But all in all, i would say that the father figure in HxH are rather diverse.
