Congratulations to Spain for being the only team that showed up today. Old legs and 1 fewer day of rest is no excuse for Argentina's disasterclass today, especially Scaloni that did pretty much every sub backwards reinventing the wheel with things that had already worked. Lautaro ended up rotting in the bench after allowing Argentina to play this game in the first place.

Bummer last game for Messi (the joke of him missing it writes itself). Moronic game for a bunch of other players.

Even then Argentina somehow took it to extra time and almost ties it with a chance that unfortunately fell on that donkey Simeone's foot. Spain deserved to win at least 2-0 in regular time but couldn't finish to save their lives.

There was this collective feeling that Argentina was kinda already happy just being there in the final (the most since 78, mind) and the display on the pitch ended up reflecting it.

To be fair, Argentina's plan was to reach penalties and it almost worked out thanks to Spain's lack of goal, its biggest weakness. Argies were one man down and Spain still struggled to score like geez... if we reached penalties I would have lost it El Dibu was the best man of the match imo and on penalties I could definitely see him carrying the cup home all by himself lol

Still Spain completely dominated the match, it was so bizarre to see Argentina playing like that, and making very questionable tactics on pitch + way too many aggressive fouls, which cost them the red in the end. Its a shame Argentina went out like this, not playing the "actually good" football they know, testing the spaniards head on with courage even if it was risky and could have net them 3+ goals. Simón won the golden glove not because he was the best GK, he simply wasnt really challenged.

Still argies did a great run, reached way further than they expected and I understand that sentiment, I didnt expect Spain to beat France at the semis either. Just wish they handled defeat better, the scene post-match was... not a good sight.

Next WC in Spain-Portugal-Morocco uhhh I wont hear the end of it...
