Damn. This is a tough one. Vergo would be the easy answer but the fact is we don't know how he measures against Shanks' top crewman. Vergo is tall and muscular while Roo is short and fat. But of course, things like those never meant anything in One Piece.

I think I'm leaning more to Vergo, given the fact that we've actually seen him fight. He can use Haki, Rokushiki and it's likely that he also has some devil fruit as well. As for Roo, we only know that he doesn't hesitate to shoot people in the head while eating meat...

Razh pretty much summed it up. Roo has only been shown to fight exercise. No other choice but to go with Vergo.

Vergo wins. He has the best Busoshoku abilty seen in the series, it can't be out of the party yet.

I'll say Yonkou's top crew is bound to be stronger than a Schichibuki's top crew. it's just that we haven't seen Lucky Roo fight at all but title wise he is on par with commanders of the white beard. so i'll blindly go with Lucky Roo.

If Shank's top crewmembers are anything like Whitebeard's, then they can stand up to an Admiral, and hence very likely beat a Vice Admiral like Vergo.

vergo the strongest vice admiral, r u kidding! he is second of two vice admirals who we have seen fight seriously (besides the great war where we didn't get to see them fight) in the entire series how can u say that he is the strongest vice admiral just coz he is top marine in G-5, who we didn't even saw a glimpse of during the war where all the greats were gathered.

Lucky Roo is one of the top members of Shanks crew introduced others being Benn Beckman, Yassop. So he is in top four of the strongest men in Shanks Crew. Not hold their ground. It wouldn't be a one-sided fight if the admiral goes all out, at best. If it was as you say, then in a fight between the Marines and a Yonkou crew, it'd be possible for top crew members to take on admirals and VA and the captain would take out admirals one by one. Then, the battle's decided.
And VA doesn't rank strength that well (cough cough Garp).

But most importantly, LR is total hype, while we've seen something from Vergo.

I said Vice Admiral Vergo not any Vice Admiral, Of course every one know that Garp is an (fleet)Admiral level. If we see the Whitebeard Pirates Vs Marines war then Jozu, Marco are able to hold on their ground with Admirals, when Whitebeard (due to his age) has stopped (clutched his heart) http://www.mangareader.net/103-42471-8/one-piece/chapter-568.html for a moment while fighting with Akainu, this distracted Marco and Jozu which ended in their capture. So I think Lucky Roo will be the winner here. If I may add he is the first person in the manga to kill a person (bandit) :P

While Whitebeard had a huge amount of crewmembers and Shanks Crew is always shown to be a rather small group besides their fodder I always considered the quality of them to be greater than the ones of Whitebeard. Though Marco was said to be one of the toughest (the Gurousei mentioned him to be one of the very few possibly able to take down Blackbeard). So I guess Id say Lucky Roo is stronger then Vergo or at least on par.

Can't wait to see Shanks Crew fight a real battle again.

Sorry Lucky I believe the old theory that you're really fast and you down with Shanks so i can guess you're a problem, but im going with the terminator on this one. He's shown more stuff, so it would be nice to match him up against more fighters later on plus his ongoing fight might end soon and we'll have even more knowledge about his powers. For the sake of the tournament!

Well, you should read, what I wrote before bashing me.
I said one of the strongest. And that's clearly a different thing from the strongest.
Of course we barely seen Vice Admirals fighting, exept for Dolmatin, Garp, Chiru and Momonga... Also Smoker and Vergo... So obviously we didn't see anything...
If we consider Smoker among the weakest Vice Admirals, since he is among the new ones and learned Haki only in the last two years, then Vergo seems to be among strongest ones, since Law managed to win against Smoker, but Vergo managed to win twice against Law and the last timne was after fighting Sanji and running towards Law' s location and now he is fighting Smoker and he didn't seem to be really serious during all his fights for now. And he might also have DF and that might give him an upper hand in a fight against Smoker or anyone...

I can understand why people don't want to vote for someone just based on hype...

But Shanks and his crew were enough to stop the war. So Lucky Roo and the other named Red-hair pirates have to be at least strong enough to take out a Vice Admiral. Or else, everyone would just laugh at their claim to "fight anyone who still wanted to fight."

Well, most of Marines were hurt really badly by the time Shanks came, so it would be way easier victory for him. Also you should count that it wasn't only Shanks and his main crew who stopped the War. He also had a ship with other pirates who were weaker, but still he had quite numbers, also there were still WB pirates who were strong enough to stall Admirals for quite some time and also the likes of Croc and Iva... So there were many reasons why the War actually stopped. It wasn't only due to Shanks and his main crew members.
Also I believe Marines might have continued fighting, but Sengoku was right in the sense that in such a fight they would loose more than they would win as I doubt they would have taken down Shanks, his entire crew and all remained Whitebeard Pirates and their allies, while they would be also hurt even more and then it would be damn difficult to preserve justise throughout the World, thus Sengoku decided to finish the War.

Also there is a big differense between Vice Admirals. Vergo seems to be stronger than the same Smoker and I think there are even stronger ones...

lucky roo? ah the fat guy,well,I think he is stronger than a vice-admiral,but in WB's crew there were commanders who couldn't keep up with a vice-admiral either. and vergo seems stronger than usual vice-admirals,that's probably why he acts in the new world. so I vote him.
