Even with only 6% packet loss, latency that huge sounds like a fucking nightmare...

It's almost shocking to me that packet loss would be that low with a ping like that

Yeah, I played somewhere once with a latency of 750ms. It was unplayable, virtually, as you were at such a disadvantage against anyone head to head. I can't imagine a two second ping, even if that's only the max ping.

It could be that all the packets are getting through, just it's going really slowly.

Which game? Bad latency can affect different kinds of games more than others.

Oh, I can't remember what it was in that situation, as it was a while back, but it was either an MMO or an FPS.

I do know that when I was in college, with all of the people in our residence, there were times where we experienced client-side lag spikes of 2-3 seconds when we would try to play CoD. You'd think you would have the drop on someone and pumped him full of bullets, but really, you'd find out that you never actually shot him and that you were then dead on the ground. Most of the time it was fine, but a couple of times per match, you could get massive lag spikes because of all of the students playing games/everything.

I assumed, but just in case...

Yeah, FPS is the worst to play with bad ping, since it's all about reflexes.

Yeah and when you assume that two players are of equal skill, anything that disadvantages one player is going to drastically change the odds.

The article said it'd be a sequel manga, not just an epilogue. Not sure how that'll work with just 6 or so issues a year, but yeah.
