Finally, this is the character development that I was looking for Zenmaru. He is still the weakest from the Ogame school and didn't progressed as much as the others did. Now that the PC guy showed up, in the worst situation we're about to see some Zenmaru + long sword in action. :D

Just read the chapter. It kind of sucks that Zenmaru is that weak compared to the rest of Ogame school.... I won't be able to believe if he wins against his brother someday!

but you have to think that the way those guys telling Zenmaru is weak it means i has a psychological effect on Zenmaru because he's a laid back guy after hearing this i think Zenmaru will go wild fighting that fingering PC

Zenmaru's time to grow has finally come. If he survives the encounter with Yamanoue Kiyomori, that is.

Even if I doubt that all characters will survive this probably final arc, I don't see Zenmaru as a possible victim.
I usually don't like this kind of feature but I think the author should emphasize Zenmaru's raw strength & resistance even more. He will never be as technical as the others

I agree that Zenmaru is different which is a good thing. But how will he survive this encounter? If Kiyomori blocks his nerves, he'll be done for. And if somebody just runs to his rescue, it would be anti-climatic. Zenmaru wanted to prove his strength after all.

i think Zenmaru is also trained on controlling his muscles like Gama and of course you have to think that the guy died on the hands of that PC is not trained on that part

i think when the 1000 man slayer is on his prime and trained on the mountains he's doing the old ways and the new guy that trained Gama and Zenamru has something new on his sleeves

I've been thinking about this for a while and I think Zenmaru's weakness is going to turn out to be his lack of killing intent.

Once again it looks like Zen is going to pull out a win with brute strength...

It feels like you are saying this the same way my mom asks if I will sleep all day, like it is a bad thing....

I hope Zen wins this and get more respect from the rest of Ogame school. But I think it is being too easy...

It's being too easy indeed. Kiyomori should be able to do better than this. Smells fishy if you ask me.

What he meant was probably that Zenmaru didn't really improve except from the strength department. So far, he is still the one hit pony before the time skip unlike the others from the Ogame school, he hasn't much versatility. That's why, his victory with that scenario leaves a bad taste...

Well they only trained for a year....Zenmaru doesn't have the innate skill the others have which allowed them to improve so much in such a short amount of time. Brute strength actually wins quite a bit in real fighting plus I'm sure he will grow during battles as Gama has. Kiyomori is just surprised than Zenmaru is able to fight back at all, as am I honestly. I'm still not sure if I see Zenmaru winning this, or at least killing Kiyomori, maybe beating him and him getting away, or someone interrupt their fight.

Zenmaru is in a tight spot. Even Shin and Iori struggles against Advisers and this is a member of Jinsuke's Personal Corps. I personally can't see him winning this battle. Someone has to interfere and save Zenmaru. The only minute advantage Zenmaru has, sword vs. fingers. It depends mostly on the distance he can keep among himself and his opponent. If he stays away and try to land a hit or two, he may survive little longer.

He has one other advantage which he'll probably lose quite soon - if Zenmaru manages to land a hit with his current attack or the opponent for some reason or another blocks the sword (somehow I see this possible) - since its clear the martial artist has been underestimating Zenmaru so the element of surprise is still with him. However, after probably his little stunt at attacking the wall his opponent should get serious so that Zenmaru may be in trouble. Though given the ruckus Zenmaru would be causing with that one attack I'm sure it'll alert his allies to his whereabouts so I don't see Zenmaru dying.

Nice assessment about the element of surprise and his last attack. These factors may have paid dividends if he was facing anyone else but Personal Corps. Perhaps against advisers, he would have been able to land a fatal blow. I am not sure, Kiyomori will be troubled much by Zenmaru's attack. At least he does not have anything to block with it, other than dodging. Or may be he could use his fists :arf. Win or defeat or even saved by someone else, Zenmaru has to grow within this battle, like Gama has done so far.

I think what people are underestimating about Zenmaru is that they attribute his growth and fighting style to brute strength. However, looking at the current battle its not simply brute strength that allows Zenmaru to put pressure and surprise his foe its his agility. Agility that appeared to have been quite developed by the training so that his slashes wouldn't necessarily leave a fatal opening meaning Zenmaru has grown in versatility IMO, I think the attacking through the wall is more than just brute strength required but the agility to wield his sword into a slashing position given the positioning he was left when his initial attacks missed. it certainly does take brute strength to wield the sword he's using but it takes agility to reposition yourself into a new attacking position when your initial strike misses. Case in point of this is pages 13 to 22 of the current chapter in that Zenmaru hasn't actually moved THAT much but rather repositions himself quickly enough for a new strike, only minimal movement is required given the range his weapon affords him, and looking at his last strike this should be very apparent when he repositions his body for that new strike.

Meaning Zenmaru's learned to take the best advantage that his sword provides namely range sure his fighting style isn't as flashy as Gama, but its not as if he's using any of the Ogame kata at the moment, but when you can keep your enemy at bay as well as Zenmaru why would you necessarily worry about finesse of technique - interestingly this sounds similar to the criticisms against Banri his style wasn't any more flashy as Zenmaru using his spear to create thrusts that kept Shinnojou at distance and yet still maintained agility to react against dead spots that normally should have been created he used the distance provided by his spear as well as the misconceptions about it to keep Shinnojou at his toes. I see Zenmaru doing quite a similar thing utilizing the range provided by his weapon and surprising his opponent through agility in wielding his weapon that lends to versatility that they did not imagine possible.

You're right but we also know that Zenmaru's only strength is his brute strength if his enemy is stronger then him in this aspect what will he do? That's what I mean with versatility he needs more aces up in his sleeves. I do know one thing for sure is, if Zenmaru isn't able to hold his own against Kiyomori and his fight gets interrupted by someone from the Ogame school then this encounter could have a reverse effect on his mind. This could shatter his resolve completly and he wouldn't be able to recover from that. If we take his state of mind prior to the fight into consideration.

@Hamy: Thank you very much for your enlightening post. I really didn't see it that way. So in other words Zenmaru is probably the most efficient swordsmen out of the Ogame school who uses minimal movement to his advantage. But the question still remains what is his weakness Kashitarou was talking about??
