I've pulled together elements of other posts to compose a new Kurono theory (I still say he's in the hospital cause he deserves a break).
Reentering Gantz: One day, Izumi Shion decides he was a member of Gantz. He then receives an offer from Gantz to come back if he massacres people. Being a massive douche, Izumi goes along with this idea and dies after Kei shoots him. He makes it back into the room. This clearly never could have happened if Gantz weren't programmed to be able to bring back deactivated Gantzers. This establishes the fact that Kurono can be brought back by dying.
Gantz and lag: In each case, no one is actually transferred to the room until they are on the verge of death (that last second just before death is assured, not when they lose consciousness). I won't get into the suicide survivor paradox because we don't really know much about the events surrounding Kishimoto's surviving half (ie how much time had passed before 2nd Kishimoto was revived and given a blood transfusion). While Reika said he had no pulse, he could still see. Beyond the fact that we all think Reika's stupid (meaning she probably can't properly measure a person's pulse. yes, she's that stupid), the transfer started just after we see Kei's vision darken. On to the next point.
The transfer theory: Whenever the surviving gantzers are transferred back to the room for a new mission, they are either the first ones transported or the last ones transported. In the second mission, Nishi, Katou, Kishimoto, and Kurono were transferred to the room before the new gantzers. In this last mission, the new gantzers were transferred to the room before the rest of the Tokyo team. This shows that gantz likes to keep things organized. This means that, after the Gantzers started transferring and Reika couldn't hold on to Kurono, there was no way for Kurono to be transferred in for the Osaka mission. He had missed the window.
Even if you disagree with what I'm about to say, my above points show why it was possible for Kurono to go back under the reentering rule and not possible for him to go back in time for the Osaka mission. Since Kurono didn't "die" until after the transfer, his data wasn't put into Gantz in time for the Osaka mission. I say Kurono's data is being reserved for the start of the next mission. If we are incredibly lucky, there a be a mission right after Osaka, as in the case with Tae. As we saw in Izumi's massacre, an individual can spend time in limbo either in the data or in the room (the first victims transferred to the room probably had to wait a long time in the room in between their death and izumi's or spend time in data limbo like Izumi had when he blew up). This would mean that mean that Kurono's waiting around for the next mission before he ends up being employed. This also proves that Oku can bring Kei back by the time the next mission starts, even if he isn't on the "dead data" list (if he does, I will be the only person not surprised. bwa ha ha ha ha).
On another note, I'd like to bring up some more things that I believe should be discussed (I'm too lazy to make multiple threads):
The Gantz ball in Germany. Is it a massive data bank containing all the info of all past Gantzers? What role will this ball play in this phase (Catastrophe)? I'd especially like people to bring up their endgame theories surrounding this massive ball.
The aftermath for Tokyo team. Let's be nice and assume that Tokyo will make it out of Osaka unscathed (Inaba suicide ftw against Nura). What will happen to the vamps? We know that they were part of an organization but they appear to be the only two left. What about their need for medication to combat the effects of sunlight? What will they do without a club to hang out in? Will Cherry ever get laid?
The no ifs, ands, or buts theory about Izumi. I've already brought this up but there's no way he can be brought back to the Tokyo team. His death has been recorded by the public. In every other case, the corpses of the Gantzers had remained unidentified by the time Gantz had brought them to the room. This was not the case for Izumi. Kei, and everyone in Kei's school, saw the news report. He has been verified as dead and his corpse lies in the morgue with a name tag on it. Unfortunately, I think the only paradoxes that Gantz is capable of surround near-death suicides. Several people believe that Izumi's (and Kei's) data will make it onto another team. Given the mysteries surrounding the giant Gantz ball, I won't discount this idea, but I believe it can only be used as a last resort by Gantz (ie the German Gantz ball gets attacked by aliens).
I await and welcome all forthcoming bomb threats. Seriously, though, feel free to massacre any holes you see in the Izumi and Kurono arguments, as I look forward to defending them (scouring Gantz chapters is fun).
