I expected more from the punch. Hoped for something more like what Bellamy got.

But the atmosphere wasn't that bad. It was better in manga because things moved a lot quicker.

jap, it didn't have the energy I thought it would have with the spread it got in the manga ... that was like a huge DON with everyone breathing in at the same time and then a week break until we get to see the reactions... something like chalros falling in slow motion with that heavily deformed face would have done it for me ( and that for like the last 5 or so minutes)

Ok the punch can't compare with the manga. But it is difficult for this type of event (like for red line)
But the rest of the episode is really good stuff : the bid of roswald, the shot of Hachi and a wonderfull entrance for Luffy. Honestly I don't care about the punch

Nothing related but do you know if one piece is broadcast in china at the same time that japan ? They issued their sub incredibly fast !

Another great episode, I liked the punch scene, it was pretty good. I thought for sure they would extend that scene until next week. I understand what a couple of you are saying, the punch would of had more "zing", if that scene was lengthened somewhat.

Was anyone reminded of that One Piece anime original episode where Buggy had the make up and crazy hair, when you saw that one guy Zoro talked to/beat up [red hair guy], when he asked about the directions?

I was watching Dragon Ball Kai and I just realized that Krillin voice actor is the same one of Luffy, that kinda shocked me a little, because I hear the voice and see Luffy instead of Krillin.

Now about the episode, the Tenryuubito make me sick, with that thing that I'm above other mere humans. And the part that the audience starts to call Hachin of some unpleasure names makes me wanna punch all of them.
About the punch in Charlos, they make a good context but failure in the climax, Charlos jumping around while shoot Hachin was great, Luffy reaction, Nami after hearing Hachin was also good, but in the punch scene the one thing that was missing was dynamism, Luffy was lacking speed and anger in the strike, needed more emotion.

Yeah. The punch he gave to Bellamy is still number one for me.

Maybe they should have repeated the scene from couple of different angles and show some stunned faces in slow motion between the repetitions. That would have worked for me.

True, but Luffy make me sick also!
This is the only episode/chapter where i really HATE Luffy for what he did. It is his fault that Hachi got shot.
He only concentrated on Camie totally ignoring the rest of the situation, his friend and his crew members, as if he just switched off his brain.
This was Luffy's dumbest act and i really want to punch him like he did with the tenryuubito.

The rest was good. I agree that the punch could be better, but the several crashes afterwards where OK.

How can you hate Luffy for being Luffy? He is always the driving force that takes the decisive step. The way things work at the Shabondy Archipelago and certainly at the auction house is bound to crash with his believes. For him the Pirate King is the one with the most freedom.

On another note I love the way Luffy abuse Zoro, poor Zoro lol. Why is the punch in black and white?

I agree with you on the hating Luffy thing, he's naive, and we love him for that, well I can't think of a better way to say it, but Luffy is Luffy, you can't hate him for that. He saw his target infront of him, he decided to save her, you can't stop that. If we had a protagonist that thinks, I don't think it will be so interesting/funny.

Besides, if Luffy doesn't do it, who will? (If you know who ended up not being there of course, but you get my point right?)

That black and white thing is a powerful technique often used in movies to emphasize a scene, I thought it was done quite well, but could be better too. And yes, Bellamy's hit was pretty damn awesome.

Being naive and dumb are two different things.
He saw his friends and ignored the fact that they still didn't save Camie. That alone should have made him curious. He also knows about the collar. And than Hachi actively tried to stop him: the one closest to Camie tried to stop him!
That's too ignorant, even for him. He can read situation and peoples feeling, why not here.

That Hachi tried to hold him back the first time should tell him what? "don't go there. too public + tenryuubito invloved" ? That Hachi got discovered is his own fucking fault for trying to stop a natural power. That he got shot was bad luck and him being stupid enough not to run. all IMO

But to get back to my initial question: what do you think would have happend after that entrance? no one discovering that he's a 300 M pirate? no one calling the marines? the tenryuubito not trying to capture him for his captains collection? That's pretty much what would have happend, without Hacchi getting shot, but then Luffy wouldn't have had to punch that ugly faced brat and they also wouldn't have been able to rescue Caimie

Yeah, I'm still missing how the blame is on Luffy. He saw Caimie, he ran to free her. Hatchan tried to stop him from getting involved in a fight with the Celestial Dragons, and therefore caused him to get involved in a fight with the Celestial Dragons. It's not like Luffy knew about the species bias anyway. Why would he think other than that they were freeing their friend from an imprisonment that she didn't deserve (not that whether or not they're deserving imprisonment or not has ever bothered him). It's partially Luffy's fault for going about things in a more discretious manner, but he never has, it's just not what he's like. It's partially Hatchan's fault for blowing his cover, but what was he supposed to do, let Luffy get an admiral sent to the Sabaody Islands? And it's partially Chalros's fault for seeing a Fishman and shooting on instinct, and the auction-goers for acting like Hatchan was some sort of leper. Either way, I think you're holding Luffy far too much to blame.

In the current arc, I'm expecting 5 events to be animated (+sound) in top class.

• Rayleigh's introduction + Haki (important for me, had chills while reading the manga)
• Drake mentioning the War
• Luffy's punch
• Rayleih's haki outburst in the hall
• Kizrau's landing (extremely important for me!!!)

I'm pleased with Ray's introduction, sound setting and animation was good. The WB vs WG situation was surprisingly good animated, tbh was batter than I expected. Now in the recent episode, Luff's punch was horrible animated, in fact the whole episode was crap. Somehow everything looked weird, as if they forget to draw some edges. It's almost as if there was a different studio working on this episode, could be my imagination though, I will check it later. Anyway, the Punch..I was expecting a Bellamy like punch, fast and brutal. But this was way too slow, not to mention that crappy white light effect, for gods sake, why was it there?!

I praying that they don't screw up on Kizrau's landing..

btw About Luffy, I don't get why ppl are upset, he acted on emotion, that's the same dude we have been reading for 500 chapter. He is not a trained assault specialist, who can control his emotion..lol

Exactly, he rushed in and ignored his friends who obviously had more information than him (why else weren't the already acting?).

Probably. But he was the first one who acted.
He should have discussed the situation with his friends first. Normally Luffy arives first or together with them at the scene, but this time he was the last to appear. What if they already had a plan? He would have ruined it.

But that doens't make him less guilty.
He acted like this before, but it was a different situation.

What i really accuse Luffy of is this, the ignorance of the friends.
And it is only in this one chapter. For the rest of the time i actually like him.
And i have no problem with him punching a tenryuubito, that was inevitable since they first appear.

@Mr.Popo - So after he crashes into the auction house, he was supposed to find where his friends were, way "hi" and stand around discussing their strategy whilst watching Caimie in the fishbowl below?

"Oh hi guys. Sorry for crashing into the auction house. Let me hang with my friends and find out how to save that mermaid down there".

(Not to mention his nakama didn't even have a plan; their plan failed so in the end they would have just been panicking if Luffy asked them what their plan was)

Meh...doesn't sound like Luffy to me. I don't blame him at all. I'm surprised people are even having this discussion. Don't blame the tenryu, don't blame the people running the auction house or the people's views on mermaids/other humans/giants/etc....blame Luffy for punching the bad guy.
