I don't know if my phone does on stock battery, but it depends on the usage. I can likely last at least a day with stock on full charge, probably. But the brick lasts for over two days regardless.

Nobody's bagging your brick. I just think it's ridiculous your phone can't last 1-2 days like others (on average). I can't take anyone seriously who says their phone dies within half a day.
My s2 - lasts about 8 - 9 or so hours plus before getting low.
Thats with Skype and whats app running and sometimes some music / Stream in the bg at times and not heavy usage per-se.
It really last less than a day / 12 hours.

Never used Whatsapp before, but I know Skype keeps running in the background unless you kill it in Task Manager. You probably have a lot of wakelocks.

Download and install this when you've got a fullly charged battery:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en

Check the app at the end of the day and see what the meter reads.

Though that's not the be-all-end-all answer (could also be weak reception, battery isn't calibrated, every bell and whistle turned on), but I find it's usually the biggest culprit.

There are some free and useful apps to calibrate your battery. It really helps. I guess it would be more suitable when the sets have been used for few months. There are many other apps to maximize your battery time.

Juice Defender is a great app that kills data while your phone screen is off, so it uses up less power. Downside is that you won't get emails or anything that requires connection, not immediately anyway.

So, I'm still unsure.. which one should I buy, HTC One or Galaxy S4? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Android, and I'm thinking about changing my phone for sure this time after mine is broken right now. I read one review at Gizmodo, and it says that HTC One is better, but to be honest I'm kinda doubting HTC phones' quality in general.
Neither. Both are overpriced. It s killing me to see people buying expensive phones when a 200 eurodol phone, sometimes even less is doing the job just as fine.
I had some fun this week showing off my wiko cink five in front of two s4 users. They were quite surprised ... don t limit yourself to samsung htc or apple. Low cost smartphones are really starting to be interesting.

Could say the same thing about cars. Why buy an expensive BMW when a cheap Honda does the same job of getting you from A to B. The BMW is probably more comfortable to ride in?

User experience is king.

BMW is seen as far more luxurious with more features, as well as comfort. I think it offers more in terms of features and image than a Honda would, being seen as a cheap alternative. Likewise, phones like SGS3 or 4 and iPhone are seen as high-end models because they're expensive and advertised a great deal more than cheaper phones. But even with cheaper phones you can get good stuff, but I wouldn't know.

The immense majority of people can t tell the difference. User experience is the same for those new low cost phones. And sorry,a car can be a sign of professional success... not a phone. So there is really no point in paying more for a similar experience. But again, it s recent. Low cost phones were of low quality only one year ago. That s no longer the case. Now you have the choice between quality low cost models and former apple or samsung models.

For me, samsung and apple are unfortunately not possible choices anyway due to the lack of dual sim.

Not really. I mean, they both can be. But when comparing the two things it's always about how much you're willing to spend on each. No one is going to compare the amount of money spent on a phone, to that of a car. There's an obvious difference there.

Spending more to get more, ok
Spending more to get roughly the same, it's IMO weird

My wiko is a toyota IQ.
the S4 is an aston martin cygnet.
Basically the same car but you pay 2-3 times as much mainly for the "aston martin" name. And the additional "luxury" doesn't justify the difference in price.

But at least, with an aston martin, you can still show off a little. With a S4, again it's just a phone that everyone in the western world can buy (even if unreasonable) ... you don't even have an "exclusivity" feeling.

Maybe there are some people that really have some needs to have the most luxury item available among smartphones but I don't get the reason behind it.

To people who have an S4, my question is "why ?". Is it that important to spend two-three times the price ? My feeling is that most people are not well informed about what's available & they are just blindly buying the expensive standard stuff when they don't need that much.

Now if you really want the absolute best & you don't care about money for this kind of item, s4 is among the top

My S4 was $200 with a rebate and 2 year contract. I'm not even sure if these cheaper alternatives are really offered here and I question the experience being "virtually the same" as well.

That often? It tends to be two years long with most carriers here.

There are cheaper alternatives, but you're going to be sacrificing something. Battery life, memory, and processor speed are always lower on cheaper phones. Wiko is not available in the States, I don't know how that specific brand compares.

I wasn't talking about the phones you can get for cheap or much less than the latest model of course. What he suggested is brands like Wink offering the same experience for much less. Maybe I'm just being naive, but I can't see how that could truly be the case.

It s not Virtually the same. If i had an s4, I would need a second phone for my second sim card ...:-) . There are enough articles about the s4 being overpriced on internet. The price is already 100 - 150 euros cheaper than two months ago on amazon ...

Joke aside, i never said the phones were virtually the same. I m saying that the difference can t be justified in the pricetag. Give a chance to cheaper phones ...

I m done talking about it. Bye

But that tactic is always used by companies when new tech is released. The thing is, you don't usually buy phones unlocked here. You pay a much reduced price and then pay a contract for 1-2 years, regardless of the model. Some might be $250, $200, $150, $50, or even free. A "cheaper phone" is usually outdated models or rarely, unpopular brands. Wiko Cink 5 isn't offered here, and to be honest, it looks almost identical to a Galaxy S4, Samsung might have reason to sue :XD
