I'm not a guy who uses his phone camera extensively, so I don't think my assessment is accurate, but I'd say it's decent enough for casual uses.

The screen looks better than my S4, it's crisp but not too sharp for my eyes. I do not have anything to complain about it.

Not sure if this is a fair comparison, but Note 3 has bigger RAM compared to S5. Moreover, the launching price for S5 here is almost as pricey as Note 3. Those are two points that I noticed, at least.
That's it? Bigger RAM isn't worth deailng with the size of NOte 3, IMO.

Ok, I got a Note 3 as an extremely late birthday gift. My first thought was that this device isn't as gigantic as it seems. I like it better than my S4; My friend also told me that Note 3 is also better than S5
Note 3 is indeed better than S4. Don't know about S5. Well, I got myself a Nexus 5. Dear me, its way better than S4 or HTC One. It has no lag even with several apps and games opened at the same time. The screen is excellent and so is the camera. After using Nexus 5, I really want to get hold of G2.

It's personal preference, I guess. I don't really mind having bigger phone - my hands are pretty fat anyway - it's not as impractical as it seems.

I'm talking about being able to put it in and take it out of the pocket with ease though, and being able to sit down and move about without discomfort.

Personally, I don't have any problems with it. Sure, it cannot fit my shirt's pockets but it fits fine in my jeans pockets.

Is there anything else that makes the Note worth getting?

TouchWiz, S Pen, and other features related to that. Maybe for some it's just a gimmick, but I found those features are pretty cool and useful.

Okay, I forgot about the S Pen. That's definitely one thing worth getting. Don't the Galaxy family have TouchWiz?

Ah yes, but I think they use an improved version of the one which is installed in S4 to Note 3

"I love the slick and smooth snappiness of my Nexus 5 compared to the custom skin stuff from Samsung and HTC, so I can't wait to get my hands on a phone with custom skin stuff that's even more garish than Samsung and HTC."

...lolwut?

I have. I think I had it at one point. It changes the homescreen, right?

Yeah and reorganises your apps to your needs. Changes layout throughout the day( also recognises when you're home). It seems quite nifty; I'll try it out for a few days.

I like the app, but my issue was that I couldn't have a calendar out without sacrificing some widgets, so I just got rid of it. If they did allow the ability to add a month's display, I'd probably get it again. I don't have much app on the homescreen anyway, more like ten at max. I use an app where I can access the selected apps with just a swipe, it's usually quicker and easier.

That's not really an issue for my, I removed all screens and only have 8 apps on a sliding dock( 4 visible at a time) with Apex Launcher. Besides that, anything I needed, I went to find on my apps list. Minimises consumption and maximises space.

I still prefer to have a calendar on the screen so I can swipe to it and see if there's anything going on at that date, it's more convenient. Otherwise I'd have continued to use Aviate, it's a great app. Makes the homescreen look beautiful.

I'm pretty sure most social media sites compress any photo you upload

If you're really worried, connect it to Dropbox and see if it gets compressed. Or take pictures and don't upload it online, but somehow open it on your computer and see how it looks. Usually social media, as said above, compresses pictures.
