That wind animation with her is adorable af... unlike a certain somebody having a rock fall on them.
I know you're not speaking on daddy rock

If you iframe everything or just have overwhelming damage... maybe.

Plus there has always been the QOL of not having to make/farm food for the overworld.
Or shields :ohaielmo

Well, overwhelming damage is kind of the case except for upper levels of abyss where enemies have much more hp I guess?

Bennett's healing is so overstated; it stops at 70%, only works on active character, and forces them to stay within a circle.

He's padding.
A fair-weather friend.
Only to be used when a situation is already going good.

---

QiQi/dedicated healers?

They're there when shit hits the fan.
Dig ya out of a bad situation. (qiqi: "paying it forward!")
Yeah but him not being able to top off people doesn't matter if his damage buff helps you kill everything quicker. Plus his Burst is constantly up if you have the proper level of Energy Recharge. Yeah, Bennett is not a dedicated healer but his throughput is still pretty strong and gets the job done for me.

From what i've seen from such runs- one mistake and you pretty much have to reset. That ain't fun.
Resetting is kind of a requirement sometimes in Abyss if you're trying to get all stars 🤷‍♂️

Try it (...his ult will almost NEVER be down).
I don't have Xiao actually, I went for Hutao instead. I'm kind of curious about him with the potential rerun coming up, especially since I have Homa now. The missing piece would be Jean though, really want her. But will be hard to save for reruns with Shenhe, Yunjin, Yae, and possibly Ayato coming.

I think Favonius is ranked kind of low because while he definitely makes use of energy recharge, his kit also requires a lot of raw damage stats and if you can get by using a battery for him like Jean or maybe Kazuha he doesn't need as much help with energy. But like I said I don't have him, so idk how it feels to use him with or without that.

Git Gud... But seriously, I'm curious about that team composition. Do you tend to stick to one main team? I have a core team I do daily's with and general exploration, but for bosses, I'll switch out characters for the best combination. With Qiqi, while she was my core healer, I would switch her out for Noelle or Jean when needed, and now that she's at friendship 10, I've replace her with Kokomi for the core team.

Even without Qiqi on the field, normally her skill is enough to keep the current character near full health. I think Hu Tao is the only character I have had to actively have Qiqi switch in to heal. And sadly I keep forgetting her burst helps with healing.
I was more rigid about what I used, usually going with whatever was "newer". It's normal for me to still do that for a period of time at least but I'm trying to experiment more to get more variety out of my teams.

I guess I have 3 teams currently, with potentially a 4th if I get Itto. I have an older Noelle setup using her as a main dps but I never invested too much into it compared to others. I guess Itto will kind of "replace" her when/if I get him and add Gorou to Zhongli and Albedo.

1. Eula - Raiden - Kazuha - Zhongli
2. Hutao - Xingqiu - Kazuha - Thoma

And my third team is kind of a mish-mash including Xiangling, Bennett, and Kazuha at it's core and I use any number of different supports depending on needs. Sometimes Xingqiu, Mona, Raiden, Rosaria, Diona. Looking into raising Kaeya at some point too since I've gotten a couple constellations for him through the Starglitter shop and he's vastly overrated because of how hard it is to get those for him. Since Corrosion is everywhere now it necessitated using a healer and Bennett has covered that pretty well for farming the new boss/domain. The team is a bit low investment compared to the others since they're kind of underutilized by me outside of Kazuha. So stuff takes longer to die but at least I don't need to worry about using food or rezzing my characters after runs. I guess Kazuha's probably my favorite unit currently, he's just too useful for every type of content in the game, especially exploration.

I was talking about bennett's idle animation, in which he gets hit by a rock.

...unless you're nickname for him is daddy rock... which i would find hilarious.

Or shields :ohaielmo

Zhongli's shield is the only one that is worth a damn... or so i've been told.

honorable mention for:

- noelle. it's good but it's better for healing. granted it can proc on a low health character. if you get xiao she plays nicely with him.

- albedo. they aren't strong but he makes a ton of them. you wouldn't have to be THAT good to get through a match and not be hurt with him.

Resetting is kind of a requirement sometimes in Abyss if you're trying to get all stars 🤷‍♂️

I stopped caring when they added bosses with iframes.

Now i just clear it and walk away.

12 was easier than usual (except the 3 bosses in one). my barbara lit that dog up (...with the help of some friends).

The missing piece would be Jean though, really want her.

They're amazing together but i have yet to find anyone who NEEDS to be with them...

I thought it was some random Zhongli slander, idk... forgot about the idiot

Not really, it's just that Zhongli's shield is strong as hell on top of everything else he does (resistance shred, consistent CC, and aoe damage). Diona and Thoma have very strong shields with the right stats too, but the latter is way more niche.

Noelle shield is kinda shit, it's just the method by which she heals. You can't really use it solely for mitigation since she needs it to do anything other than dealing damage.

It's just the most ideal setup for him from both a sustain/damage standpoint since Jean uses 4pc Viridescent while he doesn't, heals him, generates particles for him, CC and provides Anemo resonance. Other Anemo units are somewhat anti-synergy aside from Kazuha, but he doesn't heal him which is something he kinda requires regardless of what content you're doing. Sucrose EM buffs don't do anything for his damage and Venti has TOO much CC for Xiao in some cases and in Abyss he's a much more valuable unit for other teams.

I'd argue that all the shields should be "strong as hell" otherwise- what's the point?

You already get those weak shields that pop from geo reactions. If a character has a dedicated shield skill, i expect it to be worth a damn.

I guess my main issue is wishy-washy design.

If a character does something, i want them to DO IT.

Take it back!

Her shield popping on low health is amazing.

Flexibility.

If you're low on health, heal.

If you're high, protect.

I think they mostly are, but I'm talking about characters where investing in their shield strength/uptime is the optimal way to build them. You have Zhongli, Diona, and Thoma, whose shield strength scales with HP. Both Zhongli and Thoma also have HP scaling for their damage as well, and Diona's main function is being a Cryo battery so her damage is less necessary. This is what makes them the strongest shielders really.

Then you have characters like Xinyan or Beidou that also have shield, but because Xinyan has low base values, investing in DEF on her gimps her damage by too much, and Beidou's shield strength scales with HP which makes her damage awful, negating the only reason you'd use her.

Take it back!

Her shield popping on low health is amazing.
That passive has a pretty long cooldown though, but I guess it's okay in a pinch but idk.

But the issue is if you're using her for her shield to protect, then she becomes useless once it breaks. And if you're using her that way that means you don't really use her as a damage dealer which makes her doubly useless if the shield is gone.

Flexibility.

If you're low on health, heal.

If you're high, protect.
From my experience the cooldown is too high to be able to make this kind of choice. If you want to use the shield as a means to protect, then that means the amount of damage you're taking is enough to where people in your party will need healing too. So you either save your shield for healing your party or you do nothing... unless you have her C6 and go triple Geo in order to feed her particles for keeping good Burst uptime. In which case you're not really bringing her for her healing or her shield anyway but it is a nice bonus.

Noelle is the only shield i've gone deep on (high 2,000's def).

As far as "elevating my gameplay" goes, i'd rather invest in a damage dealer, or at least someone more "focused"- i believe zhongli is the only one of those characters where one stat boost everything in his kit.

I do have diona at 60/70... it's just that her artifacts usually get off'd to other characters' builds. ( qiqi: :eyeroll )

From my experience the cooldown is too high to be able to make this kind of choice.

Start of the fight, pop it, then in the heat of battle it's typically ready with ult.

I used her as the sole healer for my floor 11 run (when corrosion was introduced) and things went smoothly- skills where their when i needed them.

unless you have her C6

Two away (i don't want to chance it being so close to guaranteed mercy though). :eyeroll

That passive has a pretty long cooldown though

I always run healers; so when it does pop, shit is hitting the fan...

I have wonder the actual cooldown on it though.

and

if you swap to her when it activates, will it stay on, and would she heal with it? 🤔

First time I've pulled two 5 stars in one 10-pull. This this was at 70 pity, so while getting him early feels great, as does getting both Barbara and Xiangling to C6, I only managed to pull Gorou once, which feels pretty bad since his first couple of constellations are quite good, much less C4 that turns him into a healer.

Debating on whether to take my chances on the weapon banner

From the leaks she just seems like a better Lisa. Was kind of hoping they'd try to avoid that given the comparison would be happening either way.

I expected more of a support to be honest. And would have actually preferred a shielder or healer. But let's be real, I don't actually care what she does. She's a sassy fox lady.

If I was going by the story, I kind of agree, but then we saw Raiden's abilities were more of a support so I was a bit less sure. I do know that leaks have said for several patches now that she was going to be some ungodly strong DPS though and that didn't seem to go away like many other advanced leaks.

It will be interesting to see where her gameplay lands as a DPS because Electro is so bad at that comparatively. I'm assuming they haven't buffed electro in the time I've been away but if those reactions are where they were before how high would her multipliers have to be to make her a viable main DPS?
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Because 5 Star Catalyst users DPS also tends to not be amazing either. Kokomi is a healer, Klee is.. weird, and Mona is fine but not really strong.

They've indirectly buffed Electro by making it stronger in Inazuma as well as introducing units like Sara that largely buff Electro. It seems that Yae might be doing the same.

However the underlying issue is that all Electro-involved reactions scale only with levels and Elemental Mastery and can't crit. That's why Melt and Vaporize are still going to outperform any reaction-based team except in a few niche cases (Electro-Charged teams with Childe and Beidou, for example). And that has more to do with how the units interact rather than the reactions themselves.

I'm still not really sure why Melt/Vaporize is treated differently than anything else, and to me that has to be the main reason why everyone else lags behind from a pure damage standpoint.
--- Double Post Merged, ---

And yeah, Catalyst users are just awkward in general. If I skip Yae it'll probably be for that reason alone.

I feel like their caught between two mentalities with electo. Which is probably why there are only two electro 5 stars in the entire game. Raiden Shogun and Keqing.

They can either buff the absolute hell out of electro characters, especially Keqing. But if they do that they can NEVER buff electro. Even as is if they ever buff electro enough to make Keqing usable Raiden Shogun will ascend into elder godhood because she was built to be decent even with wet noodle electro damage.

Or they buff electro damage...again, this time enough to bring DPS parity. Easiest way to do this is just let the DOTs stack like they should have to begin with then detonate at a certain threshold for a multiplicative reaction. Then just accept Raiden Shogun turning omega broken, and Fischel, Lisa, and Beidou just becoming moderately broken.

The problem I suspect their running into is they can't do both. If they try to nickel and dime the problem with character buffs. Then down the road change tactics and fix the mechanics. Suddenly all these "average" electro heroes they've buffed up will all start hitting like Diluc on top of whatever else they do.

There's another option, and that's whatever the Electro+Dendro reaction will be being the best one potentially. Or same with however it'll react with a speculated Abyss element when/if that ever happens.

I think they'll just make Electro characters more broken honestly and leave old ones to just be powercreeped. Either that or give existing characters Delusion versions which would give people a reason to use old units in some way.

That's the easiest approach.

And of course I say all this and promptly play with a Keqing, Eula, Ei, and Diona team. Which really isn't that bad. Eula and Ei carry the damage for sure but Keqing actually sort of works there since she's so fast and her burst has such a low cooldown at 12 seconds.

Yeah, Keqing can kind of work in a quick-swap team like that for the reasons you stated, and Raiden only helps her that way even more. I guess she isn't as popular in that niche since she doesn't really offer anything in the way of support with constellations though.

The issue with her is that she's an elemental damage dealer in an element that isn't good at damage.

She makes up for it a bit with mobility though, that teleport is nice to have for exploration, and there is something to be said for having a burst that is always up and makes you invincible during the animation. If she could actually do decent damage she'd be great...

Got myself a Jean from the regular gatcha last night. So I'll be working on building her up until 2.5.

She's going to be very much a welcome addition for me. Since my only wind options were Traveler and a semi-built Sucrose. And my healer has pretty much been all Diona all the time. As much as love Diona, it will be nice to be able to switch that up.

Anybody have any reccomendations for how they like to build/use her?

Kinda jealous, was hoping for her for my last pity on the Standard banner and pulled another Qiqi instead... But I guess getting her kept me from pulling for Xiao on his rerun and let's me save longer so it's not all bad.

Tbf, Sucrose if a very nice option as an Anemo Support. Very low investment required and is great at grouping as well as buffing elemental reactions.

Team options probably depend on how you build her, since she can kinda work as a DPS, Hybrid, or full Support. DPS options are either building her for Physical DPS in a Superconduct team, or using her as an on-field enabler with off-field damage supports like Beidou, Fischl, Xingqiu, or Xiangling (this is pretty similar to how Childe is most commonly used). There's also a funny option playing her in a freeze team using Chongyun/Xingqiu and using his Cryo infusion for permafreeze. For Support I'd say her most common teams are Xiao-Jean-Zhongli-Albedo/Bennet, or Ganyu-Jean-Bennet-Venti. But more than anything I'd say she's very flexible and can work with anyone due to her using 4pc Viridescent and being a capable healer.

That's pretty much what I'm going to work toward, I think. Hybrid, mostly DPS with swirl but with enough healing to sustain. My only effective damage dealers are Eula, Ei, and Deluc. So in most cases my teams involve Eula and Ei by both choice and necessity. So I'll probably be trying to fit her with those two somehow. Or as the centerpiece of secondary team for events with Deluc maybe? Feel like they'd work well together even though i really hate using him.

I don't have a ton of sword options for her, no 5 stars or anything and I don't have that event sword. But from what I'm reading Sacrificial Sword is pretty good on her and I kept pulling that one so I have an R3 of it. Which by all accounts is not bad. I cobbled together a decent Viridescent set Crit helm, attack sands, anemo goblet and decent substats so that part is pretty well sorted.

Also oddly enough pulled another Skyward Pride with the wishes that came from leveling Jean up to 70, which is as high as she's going to get until I can farm a bit. So Eula gets a very slight sword upgrade.

The reason I have Sucrose as half built as she is was because I was intending to build her as a support/EM battery. I like her and have quite a few constellations of her but was having a lot of trouble getting EM Viridescent gear and it wore down my motivation. As a result actually had a decent amount of Viridescent DPS gear sitting around for Jean actually. So it all worked out in the end. Although I do still intend to get back to building her one day. I swear it's like the game knows when you actually want EM gear to drop.
